David Smiling Wolf, aka Smiley, born and raised in the Sioux nation. Unremarkable childhood, but both his parents died shortly after he entered adulthood. He still entered the military on schedule, where his career is a mix of ups and downs. It seems he got around a lot, but there was always someone to bail him when he crossed the line.

He was discharged for killing someone in self-defence. Apparently he was sleeping with the victim's wife, so there's a motive there.

In Neo-Tokyo, he's well known in the bar/club scene. Seems he knows someone almost everywhere.


Conrad Johnson, J, from the UCAS, worked for SK in Neo-Tokyo. Nothing about his work stands out, and his corp record is sealed. However, I did find that the reason he lost his job is because his father was caught on camera sneaking in a lab and stealing something valuable. Valuable enough for J to lose his job over.

Guess he had some connections, cause it only cost him his job. Since then, he's been off the grid with him being evicted from his apartment and not having picked up an official address."

Smiley will immediately go cold and stony, "Makoto, you mistake me.  Honesty is a very important to me, and who I spend my time and nuyen with is directly reflective of that.  I realize my ignorange of your culture has resulted in some embarrassment for you, and for that I apologize, but you became known to me as a person who's company I would enjoy, something I agreed with up until now, that came from someone who understands how my people value their honor.  My directness has been in part because I seek to avoid the 'politeness' in your culture and get truth when I ask it.  What I seek is companionship, but if you feel the need to lie to me, perhaps it is best we part ways, my other companion can provide me with those who would provide the...body heat?...which seems to be what you are willing to offer."

Smiley will place some money on the table, clearly inviting her to take it and leave, but not demanding she do so.  He will make his face show hurt and sadness for her benefit.

Makoto's expression immediately changes into one of surprise and confusion. "I don't understand what you're saying, David-san."

With basic searches coming up empty Kuren digs through the data havens looking for answers about Makoto's father.

Smiley will forward Kuren's message on to Mia and Jubei, figuring they could get a pic on their commlinks more easily than he could.

"I am saying that you are lying to me and I do not appreciate that.  I understand privacy, but either answer my questions, be honest you do not want to or please do not waste my time.  I think I have made my interest and generosity clear, but I have my standards."  Smiley said in reply.

Mia yawns again, wondering to herself when this whole thing would be over. Behind the facade, she was stilll trying to shake off the incident with the women in the bar, but being snobbed like that... "...Haters gonna hate and all but those girls were going to have to pay." She had their faces and where they worked, shouldn't be too hard to make em "uncomfortable". "Yeah that'll be fun" She thought to herself, the glimmer of a smile playing across her lips.

On his way out Kuren sets his suit to a plain black to match the wageslave look.  As usual he walks a few blocks away before hailing a cab to the club.  After a moment of thought he sends a message to J, <Would you like a ride J-san?  I'm en route to the meet.>.

"It would be most appreciated Kuren-san, thank you." and J forwards an address for pick up.
On arrival, "How was your night Kuren-san?"

Kuren reroutes the cab to incorporate J's location.  Once J gets in, "Ohayou J-san.  My night was enjoyable, I was able to finish two chapters in my newest novel while waiting on the tests.  I plan on telling the others all about it later so I'll spare you having to sit through it twice.  Plus I'm still waiting on the results to be cross referenced.  How was your night?"
