If you are one of my players from gboro, we just switched from arc space you know who you are, don't read this or really any of my post in this section of the forums at least.

So I know there are foci that mostly give bonuses to various magic actions but are there magic items that go beyond?

The reason I ask is I am about to run my 1st SR game for my group who are also new to SR and 3/4 are awakened one being a occult investigator type and one being a spirit/ para critter hunter, so to provide plenty of magic themed type adventures I was thinking of having a magical gang war be brewing and eventually breaking out in Puyallup between the Kenran-kai Yakuza and another gang, possibly the Gianelli mafia (since the Yakuza and mafia have long been waring over seattle and both those factions are interested in that part of the city).  The war would ultimately be being fueled by Mitsuhama and Aztechnology, which is why I am unsure about the mafia side but I can't find anything about Mexican cartels still being organized crime syndicates in 2075 (I know they joined to form Oro and eventually Aztechnology in the early part of the century but seems they would of maintained some form of the cartel to do their illegal business much like the Yakuza does for Mitsuhama).  But I was wondering what kind of magical things the Corps would be interested in that they would be willing to invest solid resources into finding and recovering?  Ancient artifacts of power(and what would they be if they can just manufacture high rating foci already), sites of power (old temples and such that would speed up research and enchantment), lost knowledge?

The Cartel is pretty much one of the factions of Aztechnology, one that has often squabbled with the Blood Mage faction in the past.

Yes, there are powerful artifacts out there. They are referenced in some of the sourcebook adventures, such as Dawn of the Artifacts. The Genesis SR game's main plotline is kind of about the search for them too. In SR they tend to be more plot devices than actual items that the PCs obtain and use.

OK thanks yeah I wasn't really wanting them to be things the PCs could use but things that would be worth pouring money into at least enough to make some of the gangs and crime syndicates to fight over for them and for the PCs to be hired to hunt.

I think they are often something the really elite power players scheme over. I'm talking Immortal Elves and Great Dragons. Harlequin is involved in the Genesis game plot. I believe Ehran is involved with Dawn of the Artifacts.
