Hi, i remember reading a puzzling forum post in one of the Shadowrun books that made reference, or maybe greeted  a new world or something,  that was posted ca 2011 (in universe, of course).
I can for the live of me remember in which book (or edition even) that one was, or who wrote it (an immortal elf presumably), anyone can help?

Sorry for being so vague.

At one second past midnight, on December 24, 2011, the following message was sent to the Shadowland BBS's introduction board:

Good morning world. Welcome back. Play nice.
         -Saeletra

pg 73 Denver : City of Shadows

What is rarely mentioned is right after that was the following reply:

Bite Me
-World

Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

Saeletra, posted on ShadowLand in 2011, spotted and saved by FastJack at the age of 12.  Most people missed it due to watching Ryumyo drag racing a bullet train in Japan.  He posted it in the Denver Boxed Set.

The timeline changed in, 1999, IIRC.

As for theories, well, I'm a Freelancer now, I can't really share things as much as I used to.  Not that it bothers me much, Jim Butcher is right!  ;D

I love how this implies that the timeline deviates upon the event of FastJack's birth.

Thanks, that was it, i remember wondering why Shadowland would be around in 2011!

One of the short stories of the Shadowrun Returns Anthology implies that the first version of Shadowland appeared in a MMORPG in 2009, as a sort of private space for players wishing to "be themselves" and discuss things that were happening in the world.

That space was actually created by Dodger.

Now, is SRR considered canon or not is anybody's guess :)

The Sixth World Almanac has a short story describing a young Jack coming across the message.

It's interesting to note Dunkelzahn's sarcastic reply to Fastjack's post in Denver.

As far as the timeline change?  It appears to be around 1986-7 (at the very least, since the President following Reagan isn't Bush, we have a very definitive split in 1988)

By the way, the awakening was originally scheduled in Shadowrun on that day, rather than the date we know now. So this happened at the exact point of Awakening.
How am I not part of the forum?? O_O I am both active and angry!
