Another hypothesis is a retarded effect of a previous mana spike or mana level, like they'll respond some years late to the mana level

Or perhaps a failed attempt (or byproduct thereof) to stop/slow the rate at which the mana level was/is increasing. "Just sayin'."

Was afraid a lot of the responses would go straight to blow em up.  Pity that synthetic food for ghoul chow has not really worked out, this could have been handy, which is probably why the Big D tried to nudge it along in the Will.

I draw the line for "Can't we all just get along?" when the other side views me as food.

In game I think it's just natural occuring event as mana levels rise, maybe they rose to this level early.

Are ghouls and other infected player options in 5E? I know they were intruduced in a splat book in 4th, along with some other options. I"m assuming 5E core is just the primary homo sapiens ______.

So far no infected pcs in 5th. Which I find to be a Good Thing^tm.

I have a feeling that the change to ghouls' behavior is the writer's attempts to turn ghouls back into "bad guys" and less into "snowflakes"....


Which is both bad and good in it's own way.

@ Patrick Goodman- My list is pretty long let me think about it for a bit. Clockwork is too obvious even though I'd love to see it in a deal gone wrong with Hannibelle.

After that I will even bring the garnish and a lovely ghoul cap mushroom dish as an appetizer (no nutritional value for them, but they can still appreciate quality eats).
