“You don’t get it, do you? You don’t see it, smell it, feel it?”
Steiner sighs deeply with disappointment. ”You've been paid to stay inside one of the most beautiful and relaxing places on the planet, to eat food that isn’t spoiled by the modern world, not covered in pesticides, ‘enhanced’ through bioengineering, ‘boosted’ with artificial flavor or diluted with vat-grown-soy, to drink fresh herbal tea and water that is pure, mineral rich and cleansed through earth, rock, leaf and root instead of chemical treatments.
The best and purest of nature surrounds you. Plants and animals so rare on this planet to the point of extinction and food which is, ironically, now available only to the few, the rich and powerful who earned their wealth and power by polluting, corrupting and destroying the very planet which made this possible through millions of years of evolution instead of growing them as quickly as possible inside a sterile laboratory.
And still, you… You just can’t wait to get it over with this quickly enough.”
He seems genuinely upset. Not angry at you but at a world where your behavior and reactions are even possible.
"But very well. I understand I can't expect you to understand the war we are fighting or to share our vision and goals, even if it is in the benefit of the planet and everyone on it."
He leans forward. "I do, however, need you to understand the importance of this task. We do not normally outsource our attacks... and this is quite a big one. But the circumstances simply leave us no choice. However, we can not risk any of you jeopardizing this mission. Quinten did inform you of the... 'precautions' that we'll need to take if you choose not to accept? And you all agree to them?"
