"I'm glad he did" says Rat to Spooky, "because that means we get a nice paycheck at the end of the day." He takes a kiwi next and bites into it. "Eeyuck! This one tastes funny guys" says the ork to the team, throwing the rest away. "In any case, I don't care for his revolution. I only care if he pays me well and if he pays me on time."

"I think you're supposed to peel that first." Spooky laughed, "But either way, I have to wonder why I'm along for this job.  My skill set doesn't quite fit with the plan."

He looked over at Three Star and Boomer, looking to see if they have any ideas.

Boomer listened as Spooky spoke.   When he mentioned about derailing Steiner with his little speech he looked back to where the man had just left and back to the detective. When he wondered why he was hear Boomer simply blinked his almost natural looking cybereyes   "Really.  We must have been listening to different conversations.  I didn't hear any trains cars crashing together.  I'm not saying I believe everything he saying but it's normal for the J to leave things out.  That comes with the line of work.  As far as why your here I'm wondering that too.   Maybe it will come to light when we are on the island.  Look at it this way, you were asked to come.  That should say something about your skill set."

He reached for a perfectly red apple and took a big bite of the fruit.  A small amount of clear juice ran down into his beard.  "You know I think that if I have the chance I'd like to come back to this place for some R&R."

Rat listened to Spooky. After Boomer answered him, the ork stepped in with "You know, I was wondering the same thing. If you want out, I'd be more than glad to take your share, chummer."

"Sorry what was your skill set again, I filtered it out with almost everything else you have said today I am afraid?"

Three Star stood up and took hold of a vine, feeling it's textures. "Well Boomer, it is not like we know where here is."

"I'm a detective," came the reply, "Not the best in the world, but a decent one.  I'm also not entirely sure touching the plants is all that wise.  I suspect that a person could be allergic to those, and never know it.  Unless they deal with plants on a regular basis, and since none of us do...."

Spooky trailed off, and realized the other reason this place didn't sit right to him.  He'd met a few druids before, and they talked about a balance of man and nature.  This place was nature unbridled, and wanted little to do with man.

"Crap, that's what's been bothering me...."

"I almost had to stop listening to you again. Maybe you are here to help track down the right people and machinery to target. Boomer is here to help rig and sabotage along with whoever Quentin rustles up for matrix support. I have a feeling Rat and I are the back up plan. Though the job seems like it would be failed if I had to do what I do, so let us hope it does not go that way. Rat, do you have skills in infilt-.. Sneaking around?"

"Thad's what I do, Three Star" answered the ork. "I get into places, get things and get out without being seen. Goes even better if I have some Matrix support."

Boomer was listening to Spooky talk but when he started off on his tangent like he had several times before he shifted his gaze to Three Star and Rat.   He listened as they were talking shop on what skills they had.  Rat was a sneak.  Good to have in any team.   Boomer the beginning to think that Star was a shooter base on something he had just said.   That was good also.   Having a steady gun watching was invaluable.

"Good someone who is light on their feet is always needed.  So you all know I'm also good with locks  and some B&E.  I can move around pretty quiet when I have to.  It's not a speciality.  So far I've managed to not get myself killed sneaking around.  As far as guns go I prefer pistols and shotty's and I'm dam good with both.  After twenty years in the Corps I've managed to get a well rounded background."

After chatting with each other for a while, boredom, curiosity or the lure from your fantastical surrounding draws you into the park.

Walking through the park, a tree not that much different from any of the others suddenly catches Boomer's attention. One of its low hanging branches looks amazingly inviting and Boomer easily climbs the tree and sits down on the branch. His back resting against the trunk and his legs on both side of the branch he starts daydreaming and almost dozes off.

Rat heads into the park trying to find Syra but doesn't find her. He does come across one or some of the sisters occasionally and observes their behavior as they walk through the forest. They don't seem to follow any of the paths but move through even the thickest bushes and flower patches just as easily without disturbing or damaging the plants. Their behavior is definitely off, there's something feral in it. At one time he's certain he hears one of them howl and growl and a few moments later witnesses another (or is it the same one?) yelp and whimper as if in pain before vanishing in the forest.

Spooky finds a pool with hot water in a quiet spot where the air is rich with the scent of jasmine and rosemary and notices the same behavior from the sisters. He knows Dryads tend to attune to their surroundings over time and it's obvious they've been at this location for a while. If they're acting like this... There must be wild animals in the neighborhood of the park, or something similar in behavior. And the Dryads are mirroring their emotions and instincts.

Three Star, not caring one bit about all this nature, walks across the path he believes will lead him back towards where they entered the park. At one point, he notices Quinten and Steiner in a clearing. There's no path from his position to the clearing but he can see them through some holes where the foliage of the surrounding shrubs is a bit thinner. Syra, if she is also there, can't be seen. He manages to overhears a few of their words.
Quinten: "... a considerable discount on our services and my personal gratitude. I'd be deeply in your debt if you would find it in your heart to allow me to remember this paradise."
Steiner: "I don't doubt you mean it. You said the exact same thing previous times you were here..." Quinten looks at him with surprise. Yeah. You heard right. But sorry, it's not up to me, pal. And a deal's a deal. Got you a little something extra for all your effort, though." he hands Quinten a small bag. "You have to be burning through your own stash for all this, so I figure I owe you this much at least."
Quinten looks surprised yet again. "Where did..." "Look around you, Quint..." They slowly walk a bit further and vanish out of sight. The sound of their voices dies quicker than it should, something seems to be blocking the sound.

You're left to yourselves for roughly an hour and a half, maybe two.
Then, once again, the druids come to you and guide you through the park back to where you all entered the park.
Quinten is already there, waiting on you with an unconscious Syra hanging over his shoulders. He doesn't seem to have any trouble lifting her weight. "She'll be out for a couple of hours. She'll need to be carried, I'm afraid. I hadn't actually counted on any of you backing out of this deal, to be honest... especially not her. The spell boosting my strength won't last when we leave this place but I'm certain one of you can carry her." The last comment seemed aimed mostly towards Rat.
He waits for you to remove your robes and put your normal gear back on and waits a bit longer. He seems reluctant to leave, sad even. But with a last look and a deep sigh he finally turns his back towards the hidden paradise and guides you back towards the desolate streets.
"So, other than Syra I assume all went well?"

Rat smiles at the idea of carrying the unconscious woman. After changing back into his clothes, he asks Quinten "Does that mean we can activate our gear now?" before taking Syra's unconscious body.

"No.", Quinten replied to Rat. "The agreement was that this could be done upon our return at the police station. Steiner doesn't want any chance of you finding the location of this... paradise. And the Ancients will not accept you being armed and dangerous while under their protection."

Rat lets out a sigh as he adjusts the weight of Syra on his body so as to be stable while walking. Once outside, he follows Quinten and the rest of the team back to the truck, keeping an eye out for any possible predators that might be lurking about.

"As well as can be expected. So, Quentin. A discerning elf such as yourself must be looking at this job as a means to gauge talent, even if just for curiosities sake. Any chance we may receive a call from you one day? Unless of course there was something that might stop you."
Keeping an eye out around them since leaving the nature shamans magical botany experiment, Three Star places his hands on his hips as he walks.
