The question is how to tell you without exposing myself to KE heat. Are the Frenchman, Flashgitz, or the elf's commlink running silent? I don't have their commcodes, but I'm hacker. I could get in my car and alert them silently via the Matrix. I'm thinking something like...

Matrix Perception to detect hidden commlinks/identify files pertinent to sending a message (like contact lists).
Use Hack-on-the-Fly to get a mark on an ally's commlink.
Use Control Device on the commlink to get it to send a message to itself, change its "desktop background" or equivalent action.

Does that sound plausible, GM?

That'd be doing it in style. You could simply send ask for a connection and send a text. For reference, The Frenchman was simply going for a Jog. He's thus not running silent.

I was confused by the Send Message description in the rulebook, which seems to indicate that a commcode is required to send a message to somebody. But you're right, I'd think the Matrix would have some equivalent of a "friend request" feature where you could at least attempt to send a message to somebody nearby.

I'll try this in my post. Best Tea Maker, let me know if this would require hacking, and I'll rewrite.
