Hmm... the guys are quiet. Must be wireless off..
Ultra didn't want to drop out of hotsim just yet. He brought up his analysis tool, its pulsing blue form shapeshifting around his left wrist and ran its subroutines on the Patrolman's commlink, probing it for info on its files and storage.

The vehicle completes its passby and heads off to the west.

Mutumbo waited for a few more minutes after the jeep left visual range before easing up. It seemed they were out of immediate danger. He walked back to the others, switching all his gear back to wireless manually. ”Seems all is well. Let’s wait another 10, then I think we can get back to sleep.”

Mlinzi breathes a sigh of relief.

"The danger seems to have passed, my friend," the shaman sends to Wawindaji, "we will be returning to sleep."

Ultra breathes a sigh of relief as one by one, the team's wireless signals returned.
Figuring he might not have much of an option to glean information off the device once he'd rebooted, he chanced his arm.
He mentally flicked open his configurator suite and rapid-loaded up his noise cancellation suite and editing suite.

With minimal effort, you remove the protections from the file and copy it.

Mlinzi's commlink buzzed as she received a message from Ultra. Squinting at her commlink's screen, she realizes the message is blank but has two files attached to it, one a text file and the other an audio file. Uncoiling the earbuds from the recessed area of the commlink designed to hold them, she popped them into her ears and listened. The words were unknown to her, which eliminated many of the local African tribes.

Stopping the audio file after a few words, she recoiled the earbuds and accessed the text file. Squinting at the backlight screen, she tried to make out what appeared to be a list of contacts. None of the names rung a bell, but she searched her memory to determine if any of their surnames were associated with any of the tribes in the area.

After coming up empty on the audio and text files Ultra had hacked, Mlinzi settled back down to sleep. Knowing her shift was coming up in a few short hours helped the elf find sleep quickly. Unfortunately, it was a sleep filled with the restless cries of disrupting spirits cursing her from the metaplanes. When Frenchy woke her, it came as welcome relief.

Rolling out the side of the Gopher, the shaman grabbed her bow, nocked an arrow, and settled on top of a nearby boulder.

"Come Wawindaji, let us welcome the coming sunrise."

The time is about 4am when you note a pair of vehicles approaching your position from the west, just over half a kilometer out.

Slipping down from the rock, Mlinzi whispered sotto voice. "Frenchy! We've got incoming. Wake Mwindaji, I'll get Ultra."

Moving over to the Gopher, she tapped on the glass repeatedly until the man woke up. "Two trucks to the west, about 500 meters."

With that, she shut off her commlink and took position to observe the patrol.

Ultra awoke with a start, the rapping on the glass shocking him out of a shallow and uncomfortable sleep.
He wastes no time in preparing himself, slamming the cable from his datajack into the deck and feeling the kick of the hotsim smack into his cerebellum as it over-rides his motor control.
Kicking his filters into action, he searches for icons in the truck's range.

Not again, thought Mutumbo. This was the second distraction during the night, and it was very hard to get rested this way. Still, he got out without complaint, donned his vest, and before taking a sharpshooting position at the corner of a vehicle, that would provide some cover from the incoming trucks, he took a good look around. He didn't want to be surprised from behind while they concentrated on the trucks.

"Guys, sniper in the bushes at 3 o'clock. Don't know who he belongs to? Do i take him out?" The tone of the radio message suggested urgency. Mutumbo still didn't turn to face the indicated direction, but his muscles tensed to move at a moment's notice.
