Mutumbo paid the “beer”, although he didn’t do so gladly. He found the price a bit steep, but didn’t grumble about it, the bartender at least talked to him, despite not knowing him. ”Thanks, man. Cheers!” He nodded to the bartender.
He forwarded to Ultra and Frenchy what he heard about Jamison. @Ultra and Frenchy: >>Can one of you speak to that one? I don’t think its my best area. I’ll try and get into the conversation over there, although it seems a long shot.<< With that, he turned to the loud party and waited for a queue line to join in.

The volume of the group of men and orcs at the table continued to eb and flow as their laughter and arguments continued to run together. The discussion eventually turned into an argument over who had killed the most ghouls, with one particularly large orc claiming to have lived in Asamando for two years.

Frenchy entered the bar a little behind Ultra, having taken a moment to walk a quick circuit of the parking lot to stretch his legs. He surveyed the taproom, noting the drunk man Mutumbo had indicated. He lifted his goggles up until they rest on his forhead and tugged his bandana clear of his face.

He sits next to the drunk man and orders a drink from the bartender with a gesture. He turns to the drunk man as he speaks. Do you speak English?

The man ignores you until the bartender returns with your drink, whereupon he downs the rest of the amber liquid from his glass before setting the glass down in front of you and nodding to it.

That’s it, Mutumbo thought, then spoke up, turning fully to the group. He didn’t have to feign the mixture of amazement and disbelief in his voice, that was how he really felt while measuring the amount of truth in the previous statement. ”No way, in Asamando?” He leaned eagerly towards the speaker, almost raising from his seat at the bar. ”How come those ever-hungry bastards didn’t try to kill you all the time?”

Frenchy gestures at the bartender to fill the man's glass.

As soon as the refilled glass is placed on the bar, the man grabs it and downs half in one pull, his uneven movements causing him to spill part of its contents on himself in the process. Returning the half-full glass to the bar, he does not release his grip on it or turn to you. Instead, he studies the glass on the bar and allows the silence to stretch before speaking speaking

What you want? Can't you see I am busy getting drunk?

As he speaks, his words slur, dragging together..

The conversation around the table halts as all the men turn to you, with expressions that are a mix of confusion and amusement. As you look around the room, you notice the conversation between the bartender and the two men at the bar has been interrupted as well, as they turn to the unexpected interruption.
Your attention is drawn to the orc who's claim you questioned and you see his grip tighten around the middle of bottle of liquor he had been drinking directly from. His focus shifts between you and the onlooking faces and back again. As the sudden silence stretches to near half a minute, he speaks.

They did try. You callin me a liar? You want the same they got?

As the silence dragged, Mutumbo started to feel uncomfortable, a measure of confusion entering his expression. The silence was explained by the ork’s words, though – unfortunately, he completely misunderstood. ”What? No, didn’t call you anything. I was just impressed, I don’t think I’d want to spend a week there, not two years. I know them ghouls and the like are tough buggers, took part in a hunt or two going at them, and that’s just reason to be more amazed. So, how did you fare for those years?”

I want to help you get drunk. Frenchy smiles crookedly. And while we do that I was hoping you could help me out. My friends and I are headed out into the bush and I hear your the man to talk to about (the area where the run is going to be). Seemed like a friendly conversation could help us out, and a few drinks could help you.

Sipping his beer and listening into the conversation, Ultra couldn't help but feel the rising tension in the room. He made a mental note of the exits in the room and opened up an AR terminal to the truck in case they had to make a hasty exit.

The man sighs
If you are smart, stay out of the back country. No good comes from it. He downs the second half of the drink..

But it's your cred. As he goes to return the empty glass to the bar, it fumbles from his grip. Landing on its side, it bounces once before rolling off the bartop and onto the floor where it shatters. S'pose I'm already drunk.

The orc does not reply, looking confused, his eyes drifting around the faces watching him.
As the seconds pass, the silence in room is broken by the sharp sound of breaking glass, causing the standing orc to jump, but also serving to ease some of the tension in the air.

The dark skinned man at the table, the only one who's face you cannot see as his back is to you, turns to you for the first time and speaks.

Have some balls man; don't kiss his arse. He laughs and takes a drink Ghend here is an idiot. Two years in Asamando? He wouldn't last two minutes. Ain't that right Ghend? This causes the other man and the orc still seated around the table to join in on the laughter. Ghend, however, looks lost, his eyes about to jump out of their sockets as most of the bar's attention is still focused on him. Eventually, his gaze settles on you and you can see his anger build, his grip on the bottle tightening even more, until finally it breaks in his hand, showering him in booze, which only causes the men's laughter to increase. His hand now bleeding, Ghend tosses the shards of the bottle still in his hand to the table and stalks out of the bar.

ok fella, don't you do anything stupid now...
Ultra uses his AR terminal to the car to view the sensor suite output, trying to get a bead on whether this guy was slinking off home or fetching his gun from the car.

You see Ghend climb into a truck in the lot and tear out of the lot heading East

Relieved, ultra sets the sensor suite to alert him of all new contacts and returns to his beer, listening in on the conversation occuring at the bar.

Encouraged by the man talking to him, Mutumbo got up from the bar, beer in hand, and went towards the table. ”Right you are, man, but i found that it pays to be cautious, you never know when someone tells the truth or not. By the way, I’m Mutumbo. Mind if I join your merry recollection of hunts?”
