"I mostly wanted to make sure you had your head in the game." Mlinzi replies. "But I did want to ask about what all is involved in collecting these samples. As you know, we're on a timeline but those of us who aren't rock researchers don't really know what to expect when we finally start digging. The rocks we're looking for... do you know if they're going to be deep in the mines or close to the surface? Once we find the rocks, how long would you guess it would take to collect a sample? If we want to hit all four mines, we need to get an idea about how long we have to spend in each one."

He looks at you, and speaks with a little more confidence. It's hard to say exactly, but i would expect anything left is going to be rather far in. These mines were abandoned years ago as the costs involved in extracting the mineral didn't justify the value of it. So it may take a bit of looking, but I brought some equipment that should help in locating some, even if it is mostly just dust. Of course, it is possible that the mineral wants to be found, and that would make things much easier.

Once we find it, it just involves cutting out a section of the rock. We don't have to get a pure sample here. Haulting the sections back to the surface is likely to be harder than cutting it out of the walls. We just have to get it in the crates as soon as possible once they are removed from the mine.

While the elf is pretty pleased that Alzmer is opening up, some of the things he said chilled her for some reason. Composing herself a bit, Mlinzi says, "What do you mean by 'it is possible that the mineral wants to be found'? How is that possible?"

Alzmer sits up and straightens his shoulders. Well, you see...he pauses for a moment, and when he speaks again his tone is less sure. Well, the truth is I don't know. The man... the man who hired me... didn't tell me much. And I guess i didn't ask. I was just so eager to go out and have a real adventure.

I can identify the Tanzanite, I can find it even, get it out of the bedrock. But if it's changed like the man said... I don't know much about parageology. It sounded exciting, so I tried to study it a little, but without being able to see, it was hard to understand.

I do know some though, but probably not enough. That's why the man hired a paranormal expert, or at least that's what he said. But I am beginning to think there was a lot that he didn't tell me. Do you know him? Know who he is? Calling him the man seemed mysterious and exciting once, but now it just seems silly.

Intrigued, Mlinzi tried to focus Alzmer. "Honestly Mr. Alzmer, in our line of work, we don't usually know much about the people for whom we're working. If you want a give him a name, the best bet would just be to call him Mr. Johnson. It sounds like you know about as much about him as we do. Tell me, did he mention why he chose you for this adventure?"

Pausing briefly, the elf continues, "If you recall what Hunter said earlier, the wilds can be dangerous. The best way to avoid danger is if we're all aware of what is going on around us. But to know what's going on around us, we need to share information. It would be very helpful if you could tell me what Mr. Johnson shared with you about how the rocks had changed so we can get a better idea of what dangers we may be facing. While Hunter and I have had our share of experiences with paranormal animals and plants, I don't think either of us would be considered an expert."

I really don't know much more than that. I am really not sure that if he did either. Just like I told the other man, that those Massey people were using them as part of some sort of rituals. Whether or not that means anything, i don't know.

"Thanks for talking to me, Mr. Alzmer. You've been a big help." Mlinzi pulls out her commlink and fiddles with it. Looking at Alzmer again, she say, "You might want to try to get a bit of rest. It sounds like we might be working pretty late tonight."

Flipping open her commlink's keyboard, she types out a quick message.

<<@Ultra [rohorafiki]I know you're busy driving, but if you get the chance you might want to look into the search results you did on Alzmer and see if any of the possible Alzmers attending university in India. He also said he thinks the Masaai may be using the rocks for some kind of ritual.>>

Mutumbo didn’t really understand what was so hard about mentally commanding a device to perform something, even while driving the car, but he shrugged and accepted the marks. Then he commanded the agent to look up everything it could find about the mines they had to visit.

You slowly pick your way down roads of decreasing quality as you draw closer to your destination. You find your way around the last town and past the small village at the point of the lake. As you exit the lake basin, you begin to climb into the foothills, the roads now heavily rutted and turned to dust.

As the group nears the mine area, Mlinzi grabs her comm and send the team a message.

<<@Team [RohoRafiki] Before we get too close, I can ask my spirit ally to scout the area once we find the road to the mines. Thoughts?>>
