Ok so I wasn't sure where to put this I'm looking to pick the brain of someone who knows something about Shadowriders, the division of Lone Star who hunts, hires, and works with Shadowrunners.  Does anyone have detailed knowledge of them or know where I can find some?

This one there's nothing newer?  It seems to have been written in 1994.  Is there a source book referencing Knights Errand?

Yes, yes it is. I think it was either first or second edition? The mechanics may be useless for you, but the fluff is still good, as most law enforcement hasn't changed that much over the years.

Alright thx, trying to figure out how odd a plot would be involving Lone Star as the Johnson.  Actually if someone knows the answer to the following question it would save me $24.

The premise is (and if anyone is reading this in my campaign you better be hitting that back button):

A Lone Star team loses a few officers in a small sector of the Rat's Nest.  In response the Lone Star send in Swat.  They also never respond and all comms are down (as if by Jammer).  The Lone Star is already seen as lesser form of security against Knights Errant.  The idea of an entire swat team going down in Rat's Nest has them sweating bullets if it got out into the media as another blunder in a long string of Lone Star incidences the same year, they would have the whole corp embarrassed.  So in response the Commander in charge of the jurisdiction calls in a favor with a member of the Shadowrider division, requesting help.  However they don't feel it's worth their direct time and or effort instead suggesting just to send more men.  However due to the lack of importance of the Rat's Nest he really doesn't have that choice.  So his friend gives him a contact in order to reach a team of Shadowrunners.

Is this plausible?  I don't really read the source books at all. So...

Very plausible. In the wake of LS losing the Seattle policing contract, their street policing assets apparently plunged to numbering in the dozens, at most.. Farming out to 'runners is likely the only option.

Also depending on their state of desperation could offer things much more usefull than Nuyen, and if they do a nice job then maybe that particular Jhonson may offer them a more stable contract and a new life (that they will reject because they are runners... or maybe now you will have another plot entirely! lots of promise on that!)

Oh yeah, totally plausible. However, between their desperation and the fact they are fucking CorpSec, the Johnson can expect to shell the fuck out.

Missions Season 4 had groups hired by Knight Errant quite a few times, and even the DAs office.  Sometimes at the same time.

Official channels means red tape. Sometimes law enforcement and the DA need someone to just make things happen.

Or someone on the inside is dirty, and they need outsiders working the problem to prevent the bad guys from getting tipped off.

They need someone they can burn afterwards. Remember that disposability is part of why corps like shadowrunners.

They are dirty cops, and they need someone to cover their tracks/be a scape goat.

There's also the old standby of plausible deniability, they need someone gone but official channels would give their target a chance to disappear but they can't be seen engaging in vigilante justice. In comes the shadowrunner ready to murder the poor chummer of his employer's choice for cold, hard nuyen with no questions asked.

Sometimes the bad guys get good enough lawyers they get away after doing something horrendous.  Then get they court orders to protect them.  Then they start suing for everything they can.

Oh, look, the court order doesn't help you in a dark alley, now, does it?
