I haven't checked specifically, but it seems that Dragons have been generally more active in 4th than in all the other editions combined. Sure, Dunklezahn was a busy when, and Lofwyr was micromanaging his corporate empire, but the others just sat on their hordes and plotted their incredibly long-term shenanigans. This changes slightly after Big D's death, but not much.
It seems that it took a while for the Greats to realize that this is a much different Age than they were accustomed to. Before the 6th Age, they we're the fastest and most powerful. Now Metahumanity can travel nearly as fast, get information at a near instantaneous rate, and technology is putting the teeming masses at a level where they can threaten the allpowerful Greats.
Dunkie and Lofwyr seen to be the first two to grasp the concept of changing with the times, and it seems that they both successfully achieved their goals. Is the rise of Draconic activity related to the other GDs figuring out that they need to adapt?

Here's the thing....

All the Greats seem to have their own agendas, and seem to pursue them in what way they like....

Take Aden for example. Other then "nuking" Iran, she/he has been really quite... but there is a blurb in Running Wild that suggests he/she has been spending A LOT of time in meta human form, working behind the scenes against the Jihadists.

As to why Aden is doing this and his/her motives are, no one is sure.

But one thing I am sure about, is that they are up to SOMETHING..... we just can't see the tree from the forest (so to speak) and I am willing to bet that the Greats have either solved a lot of problems we don't know about, or CAUSED a lot of problems we don't know about :P

the best way to get shit done is behind the scenes.... and the more convoluted you can make the trail back to you, the less likely your plans will get disrupted.

Arleesh seems to spend much of her time tracking down and destroying artifacts Man Was Not Meant To Have, most likely because such items pose a threat to Dragons as well.

Well, there were two incidents that started this recent bit of dragons making moves in the open. The first was the Artifacts Rush, when some artifacts from older ages of magic started 'waking up'. Four of the most powerful eventually ended up in Ghostwalker's hands (as he meant them to) and he used them to close the Watergate Rift and bring back Zebulon. The second event was Aztlan provoking Amazonia into war. Back a decade or so ago, during the Yucatan revolt, the Azzies sacrificed a dragon, autopsied the body, and put the corpse on display in a museum. This pissed the dragons around the world off something fierce. When Aztlan and Amazonia went to war, this gave Sirrurg (not known for being one of the more subtle dragons) the excuse he needed to run wild on Aztlan. Hestaby broke from the script by going to the UN and airing the dirty laundry. This set off a series of moves and countermoves and the more supremacist faction of the dragons decided to start hunting talismongers, dragonslayers, and the like, which of course sparked reprisals from metahumans. Alamaise, always glad to have an excuse to poke his brother in the eye, took the opportunity to declare GeMiTo his hunting grounds, and got a bunch of younger dragons to come to his side.

Which leads us to what happened in Storm Front.

For the most part, the dragons are still doing their plots within plots. Celedyr now has to balance his research projects at NeoNET with being Loremaster, Lofwyr still has SK, Ghostwalker still has Denver (and is likely going to burn the Azzies out of it), Ryumyo and Lung have their syndicates, and so on. The dragons have never exactly been idle, its just that a couple major things came to the surface, and people couldn't help but notice it. And you'll notice that when dragons move in the open, the world shakes.

The question, of course, is what Hestaby will do now that she is out of Dragon society.

one thing I have missed over the years was why Ghostwalker has such a hate-on for Aztech.. Has this even been explained?

Well, his brother was standing on the Bridge playing Whack-a-Horror when he clawed his way out of the Rift. They may have had words. Or, you know, he may have just assensed the teocali, and said, "Aw HELL no!"

year, I know one of the first things he did when he got his meat form back was to pull a giant spirit out of the teocali and smack it around.... but I always wondered if there was an other reason for his hatred that was explained.....

Hmmm.... just an other lost to the Ages of Lore :D

Zebulon is Ghostwalker's mate, right? Was she the reason why Ghostwalker was roaming around astral space for some thousands of years?

Yes, and we still have no idea.

Is Zebulon a great or just an adult dragon? And I assume a western dragon too. Which book has more detail on her?

She is actually an extremely powerful free spirit from everything I have read....

Man, those kids are going to be weird looking. I guess that's why his name is Ghostwalker.

As far as Shadowrun went, Zebulon was described in Denver Gamemaster Book as a Force 18+ great-form city spirit. Dragons of the Sixth World mentioned it again, with little additional information. The Clutch of Dragons was as far as I know the first book to specifically associates Zebulon's name to a deceased mate of Ghostwalker (though the description is not very clear, it seems that, even before being fragmented by two summoners in 2017, Zebulon already was only one fragment of said deceased mate spirit, fragmented by Lofwyr several thousand years ago).

Earthdawn Dragons sourcebook mentions, page 97-98, one of Icewing allies to be a spirit called Ghost Scales, which was the spirit of the dragon Yuichotol, who mated with him several times prior to her killing by the Therans. There is no indication if she had reached great status prior to her death.

This imagery greatly amuses me.
