Got a player who is a career criminal it would seem, when given down time they usually have something crazy planned for that downtime.  On this episode of pawnstar however we have a elven adept going after a pawn shop to heist jewelry from the shop. Aside from cameras RFID tag and the safe from hell what other stuff can you expect to this player to encounter during this little side mission to lift some jewelry from this pawnshop?  Mind you said adept has trackless step and a pretty impressive stealth suit with built in jammer.

if you want to allow it, move it on screen. In general "down time" activities shouldn't be major sources of revenue unless it serves the story.

There is a story in the Anniversary Edition at the start of the one of the chapters which would make a great idea of what to have  in a shop like that. It should work for what you have in mind.... i'll have a look at what page its on when i get home and can have a look at my books.

anything that would involve personal gain, and skill tests should he handled while IN GAME and not fluff rolled on the side to score some extra cash...

So the "pawn store heist" would be better served as an actual run and not something done on "downtime" (which is traditionally used for health recovery, increasing skills, and purchasing toys)

Security he could expect to find?

Contact switch gates on the windows and doors (open the gate, you break the contact, and it sounds an alarm)

Motion sensors,

Cameras,

a drone or two,

Floor safe (embedded IN the floor.. would require a jackhammer to get out)
Wall safe (same idea as above, but bigger!)
Contact and motion sensors IN the safe. (open the door, alarm sounds)

Bubba the Troll security guard.
Tiny the troll Security guard.

(Remember, some pawn shops operate 24hr a day.... and those that don't... generally aren't worth the effort)
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

Remember: You can't fix Stupid. But you can beat on it with a 2x4 until it smartens up! Or dies.

Trained security paracritters. A couple of cockatrices, for example, might be a common response. For a place with a lot of merchandise, a bound security spirit wouldn't be out of whack.

Thank you for the good suggestions Reaver, I'll be sure to point out the 24 hour pawn shop.

Backroom/basement poker game, someone makes a trip to the safe to deposit the buy in, or withdrawl a players winning's at an inoppertune time.

A key holder to the shop stops by to impress thier date.

Another issue with a pawn shop heist is that most pawn shops in the sixth world will either have organized crime or corporate backing, and that can cause additional issues.
