Who all remembers playing games like Wing Commander, Privateer, and Freelancer?

WC was a pretty big part of my childhood, next to CRPGs like Fallout and old school fighting games like One Must Fall:2097.  Chris Roberts is back, and making a next-gen sandbox space combat game with the help of a few hundred thousand gamers who also loved his work!

I'm curious to see if there are any other fellow pilots waiting in the wings.

Must admit I only ever played freelancer but that absolutely rocked, but xwing vs tie fighter was excellent to play for its time.... I've sort of gone off space combat sims since then... It's piss funny I have got to have like 30+ Xbox 360 games, but the only one I seem to play are COD black op 1 & 2 and assassins creed with the occasional bout of crimson skies thrown in.

Ahhh, Tie Fighter and its variants.  That brings back fond memories, and reminds me why Imperial pilots were so cool.  They didn't have the luxury of shields, so any who survived long enough to become aces were something to be feared.

Logged more hours in New Vegas than I care to admit, but it should make up for the rest of the crap on Steam I've stopped playing.

I'm just tickled by SC's in-universe commercials, and the levels of versimilitude Chris Roberts likes to put into his stuff:

Already kicked in and got a nice sweet little ghetto ship waiting for me.  ;D

Also just found my old X-Wing CD, and am slowly fighting with it to see if it'll work on a modern rig with some jiggering.

Pretty righteous.  Me and a few other buddies from our SR group plan to fly together: me as a dogfighting escort, one as a long-haul fuel tanker, and another as an explorer.

I meant using some kind of emulator.  Hell, I'd crash into the end of the universe before I got control of my own ship!
