I am going to play SR5 with a bunch of former ED players that are extremely curious about the metaplot. I already answered whatever I could searching around, but some topics are not clear to me. I know the metaplot for ED is still open (and licensed by another company) but maybe some of it is already covered. Any help appreciated.

1 - During the 5th world, did the immortal playable MTs hibernate for a while or stayed awake the WHOLE time?
2 - It is mentioned somewhere that a dragon kept festering his hatred of immortal elves during the low mana cycle. Did the dragons hibernate the whole time or did they awake from time to time for brief periods?
3 - Did the immortal elves (and other non-dragon immortals) unUGEnized/degoblinized?
4 - Did the immortals create cabals and stuff to advance their knowledge during the 5W or suffered with the ignorance of the population?
5 - At the end of the 4W the non-humans unUGEnized/degoblinized? Did they just stop having children? Maybe just were able to have human children? Were they killed before (in the war or something)?
6 - What is that about elves reincarnating?
7 - What is that about a dwarven Kaer still sealed?
8 - Were there any supplement allowing PCs other than the big 5 MTs? Is there an estimation of worldwide population of each MT (and ghouls, nagas and other sentient beings)? How about shamans/adepts/technomancers?

1. There are NO immortal playable . . . whatevers. I have no idea what MTs are. oh, wait - MT = metatype
2. Not enough (solid) information. I'm guessing the hating dragon is/was Alamais.
3. It's assumed they lost their elven-ness and went through the 5th Age as humans.
4. Probably both, at different times. The biggest challenge for an immortal is avoiding boredom.
5. Don't know, because Earthdawn hasn't gotten that far.
6. How is any reincarnation theory regarded? New Agey twaddlespeak, pretty much.
7. Dwarven kaer - is this from the German metaplot? Never heard of it before. Interesting idea.
8. SR4 Runner's Companion covered Sapients (Infected, pixies, sasquatches, drakes etc), AIs and e-ghosts. What else is there?

Looking at the above, I find myself wondering about an Infected Pixie character . . .

I think they're immune. Though maybe imps or something are infected pixies? But for the most part, if you're not metahuman you're safe. The only exception I know of is Sasquatches. Even Dropbears are not infected Koala , but are just "normal" awaken Koala's that just so happen to naturally produce HMHVV.

1.  Considering that various books throughout the SR history has hinted at / mentioned downcycle Dragon Hunting..  as in, some of the Immortal Elves killing off sleeping dragons, it can probably be assumed that the IEs did not hybernate through the 5th world.

3.  I don't know if they regressed or not, or if there is even much information.  Apparently Ehran the Scribe did a lot of Politicking in a human guise, but that could have been regression, or just a bit of makeup, disguise, or retained magic at work..

5.  Similar to 3, I don't know if there is any actual information, but the likely scenario (based on UGE) is that as magic reduced, Metahuman babies just started getting born as Humans.

8.  Probably the only one I can answer partly for certain.  Runner's Companion (SR4) Had rules for creating Metavariants, and Sapient Species as characters.

No exact Numbers but as a rule of thumb you could assume
65-66 % Humans
15-16 % Orks
8-10 % Elves
and 4-5 % Trolls and Dwarfes each
1% of Humanity is awakend ( > half is Adept  and < half is Magic using )
 2 % is surged
 Thats all I know

The Clutch of Dragons says there are seven billion metahumans on Earth. Figures from 3rd and 4th editions sourcebook give a global population of at least 5.2 billions. However, this number doesn't include Chinese coastal provinces, most of Africa and Eastern Europe, for which data is not available. My own estimation is around 675 millions, putting the total at least 5.86 billions.

Metatypes figure were given for only a much smaller set of countries. The average is 72.8% humans, 6.8% elves, 5.9% dwarfs, 10.7% orks and 2.6% trolls. But India and Japan population (78% and 84% humans!) accounts for almost half of these numbers. The average for other countries is 67.7% humans, 9.3% elves, 6.7% dwarfs, 11.1% orks and 3.8% trolls.
