How do you guys normally put an RIFD-Tag on a person?

Our GM asked us to buy some glue to glue the stealth tag on the to tagged person.
Well we didn't find anything else on the book, so I really wonder, how this is normally done. In my idea of the 6th world its quite ridicules to still use glue or secure needles to put something like that on.

I'm sure most tags would have a built-in clip or some adhesive.  For stealth tags, it's possible hey have a bit of gecko grip technology to just be able to stick to nearly anything.  You definitely don't need to buy some Elmer's Glue to get a stealth tag on someone.  Even if your GM disagrees, the tags are very small (like the size of your thumb) and could just be dropped into someone's pocket with ease.

Closer to the size of your thumbNAIL and as thin as a sheet of paper. Even today RFID tags are about that small.

Hell, RFID tags are embedded in your candy bars.  So...  way smaller than a thumb.  :P

Which is why real shadowrunners wrap themselves in tinfoil and paranoidly wave tag eraser over everything before touching it.

Some scientists are actually working on techniques to insert RFID tags into bank notes, and are pretty close to success. For that, they developed a technique that shaves them down to a thickness of 20 microns (0.02 mm), where a sheet of printer paper is roughly 0.095 mm thick.

Yes, but the distance you'd be able to read that at probably measures in the millimeters. Since Shadowrunners tend to use RFID tags to track someone from across a city (sometimes) I'm still going to assume they're a little bigger than that, even in the 2070's. It's simply a matter of having an antenna big enough to send a measurable signal back to the reader, especially when the air is saturated with RF signals from the wireless Matrix.

As alluded throughout, I think the method will depend on range and whether it's active or passive.

My assumption (as a GM) would be that they come with a self adhesive square somewhere on them as default unless they are huge.

The idea crossed our mind... But thieves using a RFID-scanner and from a distance pick out victims that carry a lot of money in their wallet kinda put an end to that brain storming session ;)

In SR5 you only need an antenna big enough to send a signal strong enough to be picked up and routed by the nearest wireless device....

I think I have an allergy to the adhesive on these tags.

Good news.... we fixed it so it doesn't use that adhesive anymore...

Great, so how does it work now?

It's a suppository.

When I did automotive work, the company used RFID tags to track the tires coming in and out of the workshop. They were about four times the size of what Charasanya showed, but they had a range of about four hundred feet. You could pick them up with the wand from outside the building.

Of course, going with the cheapest supplier, the tags fried if they got wet or touched metal. That was absolutely perfect for tires being stored on metal racks in a leaky building.

I would expect by SR time they would have the range considerably extended.

Eh.  The tag just has to be able to reach the closest Matrix device, and then things will route.
