Magpie was somewhat annoyed that he couldn't hear what was going on. That lady looked rich, and she looked distressed. Those two factors added up to one thing to the Shaman of Raven; Nuyen, dollar. Shinies.

Magpie loved shinies. The not particularly subtle man began to edge closer along the bar, trying to listen in on the conversation still.

I -think- it's Infiltration here, but not 100% without my rulebook. Either way, it is defaulting off of an attribute of three so the roll would be the same :D

@Shark

As you are talking with miss Cooper, there is an obvious attempt by the shaman mentioned earlier to get closer to you. He also seems not to care whether you realize or not he is listening in. The dwarfish woman, however, stops talking and looks at you, her expression a mix of both not knowing what to do and expecting you to deal with it.

Jimmy held up a hand, indicating that he's got a handle on it.  @Kinkou <<Not quite sure yet, but it's sounding like the timeline's gonna be tight; thinking we might need to recruit talent from in here.  I've clocked a few possible runners in here, I'll flag them for you; the shaman-looking guy by the bar might be useful, but he's about to do himself right out of any sort of shot if he doesn't back the hell off.  Johnson's getting nervous, so I'm hoping you can deal with this guy before I have to.  Maybe grab these guys for a sit down, figure out what, if anything, they're good for?  Gonna see if we can adjourn to a back room here.>>

"An associate of mine should be handling this issue for now."  With rather good timing, the bartender showed up with the drinks Jimmy had ordered.  "Hey man, you got a back room or something here where we can talk privately?"

The bartender smiles as you ask the question. "Sure, it's backstage. Just tell the bouncer Karl sent you" answers the human, as he points you in the direction of a door behind a towering troll.

Miss Cooper breathes a sigh of relief at the mention of you handling things and says "Oh, you have associates here with you?"

"Thanks, man.  Name's Jimmy, by the way."  Jimmy passed Miss Cooper one of the two drinks as he'd ordered.

"It's just good fortune, really - I wouldn't have even been coming here if it weren't for the rain, and she just so happened to be here.  Means we can start getting the team put together while you and I talk."  As they reached the door to go back stage, he waved to the bouncer.

"Hey, Karl said we could go back here for a private conversation?"  His voice went up at the end, turning the statement to a question - giving the the respect of assuming he was the final authority on who did and didn't get to go back there.

The dwarfish woman takes a look at the drink, not quite knowing what it is. Whether out of politeness or curiosity, she accepts it and follows Shark out to the back.

The troll standing in front of the backstage door is very close to 9 feet tall, if not taller. His expression betrays he won't put up for any funny business, but there is no anger nor hatred in his face. He has probably been asked a dozen times tonight to let someone go backstage, but it looks like he's refused thirteen times already.

At the mention on Karl's name, however, the bouncer looks back at the bar and before you have time to turn your head he says "Straight ahead, first on your left."

You cross the doorway and see a poorly lit, long corridor. You head for the first door on the left, miss Cooper on your heals when the troll asks you, right before closing the backstage door, "Expecting other people?"

The first room on the left is a table with wooden chairs. There is a soft light glowing from a single lightbulb right over the table. The writing on the walls must surely be magical because the silence is deafening in the room, despite the noise outside of it.

"I don't think we are, no.  That changes, you'll be the first to know." He'd have to remember this place; it was hard to underestimate the value of a good meeting spot, after all, especially with nine feet of troll watching the door.

"Much better.  Now, Miss Cooper, you say you don't believe the reports, and I don't blame you for that; a lot of the time closing the case is more important to them than getting it right.  But you said you needed someone to avenge him, not someone to discover what really happened.  Why don't you tell me what you've been able to find out?"

//Sounds good, I'll head over and chat to him. Want me to join you afterwards?//
Kinkou felt happier knowing some work was coming in, though a bit annoyed that she wouldnt see the last of the band's set.
She struggled against the crowd and pushed her way through the cramped dance floor and up the two steps to the bar level.
Instantly she saw the befeathered dude, craning his neck as shark and the johnson headed to the backroom. Approaching him, kinkou spoke directly.
Hoi chummer, you looking for work or trying to scare it away?

Magpie turned around at the sound of the womans voice, keeping his composure. He was handsome enough - for a human- but nothing to write home about. Piercing silver-grey eyes stared straight into Kinkou's. Now that she was in front of him, there was to be no sly eyes darting around for an unprovoked checking out. He slipped a smile onto his face and nodded.

"Yeah, hoi." Hw watched the marks walk into the backroom, but he kept on just smiling as his eyes returned to hers.

"I was just listnin' y'know." Compared to his eyes which were kept composed, the shamans hands were wandering down into his pockets.

"Raven likes it when I listen ta chummers problems. Help 'em out, y'know. I didn't mean to scare no-one. Should'a figgered though - My bad. Th'names Magpie."

@Shark

"I don't believe in the suicide, so someone must have killed him. And that someone needs to die in turn" answers the woman, both determination and anger in her eyes. "My father was loved in the community. He tried to hire the people that weren't getting recognised by society. The trolls with the PhDs, the hard-working orks. Everyone loved him, first and foremost myself. Which is why I need to do this for him." The anger is quickly replaced by sorrow, but the determination is still present. "Please help me, Mr..." Her eyes wander down for a moment, before looking back at you. "I just realised I don't even know your name yet."

"I get twitchy" Magpie thought, his fingers clenching and unclenching around the Psyche baggie. There would be time for that later. Maybe in the meet when he needed to focus. He nodded at the offer of a drink.

"Sure. I'll drink to that. So, you know what's goin' on with Ms. Johnson then?"

Alexander watched as the 'excitement' went to find some privacy whilst trying to hide his own disappointment. Just my luck! rotten week, rotten weather outside, should of known it was too good to be true with this dower thought he went back to his drink. Seeing the obvious moves of 'feathers' nearby Alexander shifted uncomfortably and kept surveying the bar for any signs of potential activity that could liven up his somber mood.
