Kinkou grinned at the befeathered man
sure, dress down though eh?

Magpie chuckled. "What do you mean? This is dressed down."

Taking his queue Alexander poured himself another soy-caf into his battered old mug and proceeded to walk to his desk space to continue his work. he left a parting comment as he exited the kitchen while thinking to himself feather's is dressed DOWN Ha!
I'll crack at it then, come get me if you need me.

Booting up his main link his Hermes Ikon he plugged in his body going limp as his mind explored the wonders of his hot sim VR universe.
As his reality filter initialized the world around him grew from the blackness:

His main node had a custom metaphor which he had designed himself in his spare time to reflect the jungle hell he had spent the last few months in. literally as it loaded the jungle grew around him with large trees and sprouting vines, a hot and humid jungle forest the sweat pouring off his persona which was that of a native witch doctor.

With a simple thought he booted up his agent it's icon that of a panther leaping forth from the brush.

Ah mojo my friend we have much work to do, you must help me with my tasks today.
Issuing command to Agent to provide teamwork in all action he is able.

@Patch

Your analysis of the file turns up nothing out of the ordinary. It's a standard file that KE gives to victims' families. There are no booby traps, nothing suspicious and the encryption is rudimentary.

You then decide to decript the file and are done in a matter of moments. It seems whomever was in charge of the file didn't care much about security.

The file is pretty standard. It seems Mr. Cooper was found in his home office, doors locked, with a bullet in his head, hanging from the ceiling. There was no sign of struggle and the gun, Mr. Cooper's personal firearm, lay on the floor not far from the body, with his prints on it. KE didn't find anything else and that was a clear open/shut case for them.

Your search into the client/her family turns up nothing you haven't already found, which you find bizarre.

Starting a fire in the jungle the witch doctor and panther stare into the flickers of the flames and the data is gleans.

Felling disappointed in the lack of information he has found he issue a command to his agent to keep looking for anything new that may crop up, but not expecting anything to appear.

Jacking out Alexander returns to the kitchen to share the limited information he found with the others.
The crime report is next to useless, no real in formation other than the incompetence of Knight Errant
The lack of encryption is also rather worrying I expected more.

However whats more concerning is the lack of information on Johnson and the family, there is nothing more than the cursory information.
If you want my opinion they've been scrubbed.
What we've found is what they WANT us to see.

I have a contact that may be able to help, I'll send them a message and see what I can find.

Turning his attention  to his commlink Alexander sent a message to his coroner friend:

\\Message to:: JJ
Hoi Janice,

I have an unusual situation and i could use your advice, some of your expert wisdom and most of all your company.
I have some firends over at the surgery at the moment can you come voer so we discuss it a little more?

Alex
\message terminated:>

Janice and Alexander may not be the best of friends any more but they were once good together, as his college flame they were inseparable, she dumped him when she learned of his crimes, not willing to be associated with him.
They only got in touch again in the last few years and have somewhat rekindled their friendship but their is still a lot of trust to rebuild. But for now her position in the coroners office may be of use to this situation.

Your commlink flashes back not long after you send your message. "Sure, I have nothing else to do at the moment. Give me 30 minutes."

Right then guys a friend of mine is coming over, she may be able to shed some light on what we are up against here.
She's not exactly in the community ...
... in fact she's a total civilian.

She is however a coroner.
She'd not an idiot either...

... if anyone would know how to read between the lines of this piece or garbage report it would be her.

Flea knocks back the dregs of the nearly-cold soycaf and smiles, that's great. How long will she be? It's getting pretty tight on the deadline for this funeral so we'd best head out if we're gonna stand any chance of getting changed and still catching it. Feathers, grab the Johnson's commcode off our decker and let her know we want to be on the guestlist, I'll wheel the bike out and meet you out front. {turning back to alexander} Keep in touch on that report then, we'll be back in a bit.

She should be here in a half apparently.
Hearing Flea's request Alexander sends the details across to Feather's link accordingly.

You wait maybe 25 minutes before someone bangs on the door of your place. You quickly recognise your guest and let her in, exchanging greetings and smiles. After some idle chitchat accompanying a cup of soycaf, Janice asks you "So, what kind of help do you need?"

Well then Janice,

I do feel kind of awkward asking but i don;t know who else to turn to.
I kind of got roped into this gig last night to look into a death of some CEO.

now normally I would find a small mountain of information to go through and feed back, but what little I can find is obviously edited for public consumption.

And unfortunately the Crime report is no different...
This is where I was hoping you could help, you've been around the coroners office long enough that i thought you might be able to shed some light on the matter.

Of course I completely understand if that is asking too much.

Alexander shifts nervously while asking, obviously uncomfortable pressing their shaky friendship in this way.

Janice listens to Patch's plea. She then seems to think in silence for a moment before answering "Alright, I'll take a look at your stiff, but it'll cost you a dinner for two at the needle." She then takes the report and starts looking at it.

She skims the coroner's notes, giving out an occasional "Hmm" or "I see" every now and then. "So the corpse was found hung with a bullet in his head. That's strange." Janice looks at the pictures on the file and says "The rope is too short to have any other purpose in a household. Either it was cut or brought from the outside." She flips a few pages and says "I see the gun was smartlinked, but the report doesn't say anything about anyone looking at it on the Matrix side of things." She hands the report back to Patch and says "I'm sure you noticed the neck was snapped before the bullet went in, so either your victim had help or he was murdered. Anyways, that's all I could get from reading this."

Dinner for two at the needle.... ermm I don't know, i means it's kinda fancy Alexander deliberately pauses when he can to emphasize the sarcasm in his voice. ... I guess that's fine. I'll call you when I've finished with this so called 'job'

He was attentive to what Janice was saying but keen to make sure that it was covered in full so set his link to take a transcript of the conversation about the report.
That's much of what I thought yes.
Is it usual for the cop lot to be so incompetent as to miss the blindingly obvious...

Not waiting for a response he continued
can I get you toppers on the caff then Janice

moving to his comm he starts tapping away as though making notes but actually sending the transcripts to the rest of the team:

\\ Send message: Feathers - Shark - Kinkou
-My contact has manage to shed a little more light on the report
-I've got the transcripts below of what she said:

Transcripts

-The gist is yes it's a murder... and there may be some more opportunities out there for some information assuming they didn't think to wipe the records on the gun...

\end of message\\

//good news then, we're not on a wild goose chase!//
Kinkou arrived back home just in time to get her work kit on, chucking on a set of disposable clothes over the top of her chameleon suit and stuffing the rest of her equipment into the various pockets about her person.
She took the stairs two at a time and jumped back on the bike, giving the throttle a good dose as she left the underground car park and made for the nicer part of town.
The fresh morning wind whipped into her face, finding the cracks between the lapels of her jacket and rushing down her neck, making the hairs stand up on her arms with the cold.
Mentally, she opened an AR terminal as she stopped at a red light, pulling up the public transport hub and ran a parking query

Janice answered "Don't misinterpret things: dinner for two does not include you" when Patch seemed to negotiate the time for a date. She refused his offer for anything on her soycaf and asked him "Was there anything else you needed me to take a look at?", seemingly impatient to get this over with and leave.
