IF your Fixer is Smiley, and your going to be playing new campaign in two weeks, then you are one of my Players, so please don't read any further.

One of my Favorite baddies to use as a GM is the Wendigo. I know they are normally wilderness critters, but I've read about them infiltrating gangs in Urban settings.

My players have expressed and interest in having a more Threats style campaign. Bugs/Magical Threats/ Horrors?..

Converting the SR4 Wendigo to 5th shouldn't be hard, but I'm wondering if there are any alternative critters to use. Here's the scenario:

The Player's Johnson is hiring them to intimidate some people into voting yes in the upcoming Union certification election. Here is the list of people (The last one is the Wendigo, or other baddie if someone has better idea..)

Johnson offers Runners Envelope with 1000 nuyen in each one and picture and information of target.

Alexander Morse –Black Human male, age 37, Married with 3 kids. Works the docks 1st Shift. Has girlfriend often out with her. Agrees to vote yes if runners don’t tell his wife about girlfriend. Wife will pay runners up to 500 nuyen, if they get her proof of his cheating.

Martin Conner –Mixed Troll Male, age 26, Lives in Puyallup Barrens with roommate. Works the docks 2nd Shift. Big even for a troll. His address is a bar, which he lives above with a roommate. Has annoying toy poodle, named Zeus. Tough guy, but will give up act if dog is threatened. Dart night at bar, drunk troll staggers out of bar with Dart protruding from his head, if it was any metahuman, other than a troll, you might be worried. He smiles, then collapses on sidewalk from either drink or dart, you’re not sure.

Vincent Sherman – Caucasian/Latino Human Male, age 62 ex UCAS marine. Divorced, lives alone. Works the docks 1st Shift. Concealed carry permit. Has insomnia, watches lots of Trid. Usually not asleep till 2am. Very paranoid. Is very well armed. Was going to vote yes anyways. Perception (4) test in apartment will let the runners see pro-union plaque and Perception (3) with appropriate Knowledge skill (2) will show Firefighter AR poster with Vincent’s dad, which would suggest strong union backing.

Esther Higgins –Mixed Human Female, age 42.  Has 16 year old troubled teenage boy. Often drinks. Son home alone most of the time, has friends over at all hours. Works the docks 3rd Shift. Would be easy to convince to vote yes.

Hoshiko Konno –Japanese Ork Male, age 29 Married with four kids, wife lives in Japan with child. Works 2 jobs. Works the docks 1st Shift. Address is listed in Japan. Also part time cook at Japanese Restaurant working 2nd Shift. Very good with knives, if runners try to get him at restaurant, he will throw knife at them then try to get away. Thinks the runners are with Mob collecting gambling debts. First tries to convince runners he only speaks Japanese. Can be convinced to vote yes if runners lend him 2K which he’ll pay back 3k later. Swears he is done with gambling. Confronted by mobsters then, mob is there to kill him telling runners Hoshiko owes the mob 10k.

John Smith – Caucasian Human male age 33, married 2 kids. Works the docks 1st Shift. He lives in a nice house, his wife’s family has money. Very friendly Easy to convince to vote yes. If runners come during the day he’s outside playing with kids. If they come during evening hours he’s eating dinner with family or watching the trid. John and his "Wife" are Wendigos with Masking, he has bodies in his basement. Matrix Search will reveal the real John Smith died 3 years ago. Astral perception might raise some suspicions (There is a mild background count). If questioned, John tells them he heard this land was ancient Indian burial ground. “Check this out” he shows them a yellowish/orange metallic arrowhead. It’s Orichalcum (Worth almost 10k nuyen). He asks if the runners think it’s worth anything, knowing it is, but trying to get them off his property. He can be convinced to give it to runners, saying with his luck, his kids would try to swallow it.  If runners are greedy and ask about more, he'll say this is the only thing he's found so far, and that he's lived on property for 3 years. Remind runners that neighborhood has very good security. The bounty on 2 Wendigos is 30K.

Comments, suggestions, any more ideas?..

Thanks )

Well 6k Nuyen if they complete the run. 8 or 9k for the Orichalcum. 30k for bounty. If I had to say what the odds are they will get the bonus money I would say 30% chance they will.

1 karma per intimidated target.
2 to 4 for completing run.
2 for discovering John Smith's secret
2 for stopping him

6K?

You note the johnson gives letters with 1K nuyen in each, and there 6 NPC's, but per raw the base run is supposed to give 3K per runner

Whats the plan B if they can't figure out the secret? You'd have put thought into the setup, and it seems like you are counting on them finding out.

I'm doing a street/Mid Level game.  The run doesn't pay much, but they have potential to make extra 39k.

Not counting on them finding out. I'm keeping game open. After I am done with campaign I might tell them they missed opportunity. There is plenty of other stuff going on.

What stats would you use for the mobsters at the Japanese restaurant, stuff straight from the book?

And are they Mafia or Yakuza?

Book ones with couple essence of ware depending on what players are going after target.

And probably more powerful stuff than Ceska Scorpions.
