Most of these, i feel like i already know the answers, but i gotta make sure.

1- i have trodes. do i need anything else for image link? soundlink?
2- i have cyber-eyes. do i need anything else for image link?
3- i have a datalink. do i need anything else for image link? sound link?
4- i have no cyberware, but i DO have a smartgun, and goggles with the smartgun feature. what bonuses do i get?
5- same as 4, but i also have trodes.
6- i have a control rig. do i need anything else for image link? sound link?
7- i have cyber-ears. do i need anything else for sound link?
8- what is the complete list of ways to get a DNI?
9- can i install image link in my meat eyes without replacing them? sound link in ears?

I'm not sure why I am going to bother because Xenon is probably going to answer this with a gigantic post quoting a third of the book, but here goes.

1 ) Nope
2 ) Comes with it free
3 ) Not sure what a datalink is. If you mean a datajack, it gives you DNI which obviates the need for image/sound link.
4 ) Considering the other nearly double-digit thread of this where Xenon and WellsIDidIt are duking it out, I will say that in my game, you'd get the limit/+1 dicepool bonus assuming wireless is on.
5 ) Same as 4, plus the changing device/ejecting clips thing (again, my game)
6 ) Control Rigs give DNI, you're good.
7 ) Nope, comes with it
8 ) Trodes, Datajack, Implanted Commlink/Cyberdeck, and Control Rig. I don't think I missed any, but it is possible.
9 ) Yes to both

I'll answer the ones I'm sure of:

2) Nope, the book says they come in with built in cameras and an image link
4) If you're using smartlink in glasses/goggles/whatever in wireless mode you get a +1 to your attack pool. You get a +2 if you pay for the smartlink in essence (i.e. get it installed in a cyber eye or do a retinal modification.) Presumably, you get both the +1 to accuracy/+1 to attack pool for aiming (without a smartlink, the aim gives you one or the other) either way.
7) Like cybereyes, cyberears come with the soundlink for free,
8) trodes, data jack, implanted commlink, implanted cyberdeck
9) Yes to both. Actually you can almost everything as a standalone retinal or inner-ear modification. However, if you're gonna get a bunch of stuff, its way more essence friendly to just replace your eyes and have them installed in a cyber eye- like if you wanted to get an image link and smart link, that's 0.3 essence base. The lowest rating cyber eye is 0.2 essence base, has the image link for free, and a capacity of four, so you could toss a smartlink in there (3 capacity) and still have 1 capacity left over for flare compensation all for a lower essence cost.

As for the others, I'm 95% sure a DNI subverts the need for an image or sound link.

Good questions, overall.  It's nice to have some clarity for these things.  Bear in mind that where possible, I am using the strictest definitions provided by Fifth Edition rules, and no other resources from previous editions.  That's not to say that previous editions aren't necessarily used, but I'll make a note of it.  Additionally, it is possible that these answers might vary from table to table.  Also, I'm proud that I've beaten Xenon to the quotation wall of text this time.  :P

1- i have trodes. do i need anything else for image link? soundlink?

Your trodes provide a direct neural interface (DNI), which transmits data like sounds and images directly to your brain.

Quote from: Page 222 inset
A direct neural interface, or DNI, connects your brain to electronic devices. Direct neural interface (along with a sim module) is required for VR use, but DNI is also useful for AR in that you don’t need any additional gear like earbuds or an image link to see or hear augmented reality objects.
How do you sign up? You get DNI by wearing trodes, or having an implanted datajack, commlink, or cyberdeck. And if you’re using a sim module along with your DNI, you can get a sort of “super AR mode” where you can also feel, smell, and taste your AR experience.

2- i have cyber-eyes. do i need anything else for image link?

Cyber eyes come with a built-in image link.

Quote from: Page 453
Cybereyes: The basic cybereyes system features 20/20 vision for both eyes, an image link, and a built-in camera at no extra cost, as well as capacity for vision enhancements.

3- i have a datalink. do i need anything else for image link? sound link?

By datalink, I suppose you're referring to a datajack.  Datajacks are used to provide direct neural interface (DNI).  DNI provides you with the same benefits as image link and sound link.

4- i have no cyberware, but i DO have a smartgun, and goggles with the smartgun feature. what bonuses do i get?

You get the +2 to Accuracy, and you get +1 to your dice pool to shoot the weapon if your smartgun is wirelessly active.  Bear in mind that you need a way to connect the gun to the goggles, which can be achieved via wired connection for security, or wirelessly for ease of use and the bonus to your dice pool.

Quote from: Page 433
If you’re using a smartlink, the smartgun system increases the gun’s Accuracy by 2. The smartgun features are accessed either by universal access port cable to an imaging device (like glasses, goggles, or a datajack for someone with cybereyes) or by a wireless connection working in concert with direct neural interface.
...
Wireless: A wireless smartlink provides a dice pool bonus to all attacks with the weapon: +1 if you’re using gear with a smartlink or +2 if you’re using an augmentation for which you paid Essence. Ejecting a clip and changing fire modes are Free Actions.

5- same as 4, but i also have trodes.

The line in the smartgun blurb about working with wireless and a direct neural interface seems confusing.  But bear in mind that your trode net has a univseral data port (UDP) like all devices.  Therefore, you can just run a wire from the gun to your trodes and establish your DNI that way.  However, you still only get the bonus to your dice pool if your smartgun is wirelessly active.  All using the trodes do is circumvent the need for goggles or other visual aids.

6- i have a control rig. do i need anything else for image link? sound link?

Your control rig provides DNI and also is essentially a datajack.

Quote from: Page 452
Control rig: This implant harnesses the raw data-coordinating and synchronization power of the middle brain for the express purpose of directly manipulating rigged vehicles and drones (and other devices with rigger interface, like turrets). It has a built-in sim module, so you can use it for DNI with other devices. It also comes with a universal data connector and about a meter of retractable cable (it’s like getting a free datajack).

7- i have cyber-ears. do i need anything else for sound link?

No.  Cybernetic ears come with a built-in sound link system.

Quote from: Page 453
Cyberears: Ordinarily, cyberears replace only the inner ear, although the whole thing can be replaced as well if you like. Cyberears offer hearing with normal ranges (like an omni-directional microphone), a sound link, and Capacity for modifications and enhancements.

8- what is the complete list of ways to get a DNI?

Trodes, datajack, implanted commlink, implanted cyberdeck, control rig (this isn't listed in the following quote, but the equipment description says that it provides DNI).

Quote from: Page 222 inset
How do you sign up? You get DNI by wearing trodes, or having an implanted datajack, commlink, or cyberdeck. And if you’re using a sim module along with your DNI, you can get a sort of “super AR mode” where you can also feel, smell, and taste your AR experience.

9- can i install image link in my meat eyes without replacing them? sound link in ears?

Yes.  Any item listed as an Augmentation can be implanted by itself unless otherwise specified.

One final note about cyberware (this doesn't apply to bioware).  All cyberware has a neural interface.  This is not a DNI.  The neural interface allows the cybernetics to be activated and deactivated without needing wireless connectivity.  However, if you have cyberware that gets a wireless bonus, this bonus only applies if the cyberware is wirelessly active.

Quote from: Page 451
Besides their wireless functionality, almost all cyberware devices are equipped with a neural interface (not to be confused with DNI) that lets you mentally activate and control their functions. You can use this in place of wireless control, preventing wireless hacking, as long as all of the “moving parts” are connected to your nervous system. An item that has a wireless bonus, however, can
only gain that full level of functionality if wireless functionality is active.

Not quite. There is some GM discretion there. The quote you provided states that almost all cyberware has a neural interface.

True - at my table, unless otherwise specified all cyberware has a neural interface.  There's some that doesn't really need a neural interface to work, like hydraulic jacks in your legs.  That would be controlled by muscles rather than neural interface.

1. No. You have Trodes. Trodes give DNI. DNI (even without a sim-module) give audio and video AR.

2. No. Cybereyes come with image link.

3. What is a datalink? If you mean datajack then, no. Datajack give DNI.

4. The smartgun features are accessed ... by universal access port cable to an imaging device (like glasses, goggles, or a datajack for someone with cybereyes) and give you the following bonuses:

Access to the camera so you can fire around corners at -3 dice without exposing yourself
Range finder, track ammo, heat buildup and material stress; which give you +2 Accuracy.
Fire without touching the smartgun.
Change fire mode and eject clip without touching the smartgun (but not as free actions).

5. The smartgun features are accessed ... by a wireless connection working in concert with direct neural interface and, in addition to the above bonuses, also give you the following:

Change fire mode and eject clip without touching the smartgun as free actions  (wireless p. 424, 433)
+1 dice pool bonus to all attacks with the weapon (or +2 if you use an internal smartlink) (wireless p. 433)
Shift the environmental wind modifier down one level (p. 174, 175, 421)
+1 dice and +1 accuracy when you use the Take Aim simple action (p. 176, 178)

6. Yes. It provide you with a sim-module (p. 265) that let you experience both "super AR" and VR, but a sim module must be accessed via a direct neural interface (trodes, datajack, or implanted commlink) (p. 438).

7. No. Cyberears come with sound link.

8. Trodes or internal datajack / commlink / cyberdeck.

9. Yes. You can install vision enhancements with an essence cost (table p. 454) as retinal modifications to your natural eyes.

Also, I'm proud that I've beaten Xenon to the quotation wall of text this time.  :P

Ocular Drone, for example, does not have Neural Interface when it is out flying.

I just thought of something, what about in the other direction? Would I still need a subvocal mike to try and communicate over my commlink quietly, or does a DNI allow me to "think" what I want to say?

You can think what you want to send, In fact, one of the advantages of having a DNI is that you can put more into a message. Check out the Send Message Matrix Action description on p. 242

Reason for a subvocal microphone (and a micro-transceiver) is that you get access to vocal team communication within about 1 000 meters while being immune to being spotted from the Matrix and snoop attempts from the Matrix (wireless OFF).

You can do this with DNI as well, but it require that you have a physical wire between your datajack and  the datajack of the person your are communicating with (which work if you want to have a private conversation in a public location, but not really something you can use during combat).

Control Rigs not only provide DNI, they actually have a built in Sim Module, so you get the "super" AR with smell, taste, touch, etc.
Page 453: "It has a built-in sim module, so you can use it for DNI with other devices. "
Page 222: "And if you’re using a sim module along with your DNI, you can get a sort of 'super AR mode' where you can also feel, smell, and taste your AR experience."

It's not clear if this is a cold-sim only or hot-sim enabled sim-module, but considering the lack of rules/price for altering or upgrading it to hot, and that's implanted directly into your brain, I consider it hot-sim.

While on the subject of DNI, with Run and Gun we have the new Responsive Interface Gear(RIG).  This thing is a combination trode net, sim module and sim rig using two capacity in the armor and one in the helmet.  Because of it having a trode net in its mix would it provide DNI the same as a trode or would one have to actually get a trode?

Since it includes trodes, I'd assume you get the DNI benefits as well.
