From the CGL tumblr:
As was just announced, the Shadowrun, Fifth Edition data files for Hero Lab will be releasing on May 23rd!
What’s Shadowrun perhaps you might be asking? Shadowrun is one of the most successful tabletop role-playing universes of all time. An incredibly unique combination man, magic and machine! Explore the

http://youtu.be/Y4MXIg62yPE"Okay, I know all about Shadowrun, but what’s Hero Lab?” Hero Lab is the industry standard in software that takes the pencil and paper approach to character creation for a host of the hobbies’ greatest RPGs and puts it at your keyboard fingertips.
Here’s a few screen shots of the beta that’s been under testing:

I mentioned as part of
a previous blog that my wife, my eldest son and a host of his friends have started up a Shadowrun game. And even though I knew I had access to Hero Lab, we all walked through the process with a paper and pencil. (I know, brutal, but as much gaming as they do they’re still relatively new to RPGs and I wanted to ensure they had the experience of that process.)
Once they had their characters done on paper, I unleashed them with the software and they’ve been having an absolute blast! One of my favorite moments came when Bryn realized he’d done his Positive and Negative Qualities completely wrong. He’d come up with this fantastic story about how he was a “spirit bane” and come to find out you have to have a Magic Attribute to have that quality and he didn’t have the points or money for everything. So he agonized for days, trying to rebuild the characters numerous times to make it “work.” Finally he confessed that he was forced to “hurt” his character and give it a big handicap out of the gate just to be able to keep his backstory.
I simply told him “Welcome to the joy of roleplaying!”
