Ok, folks, here we go, the official OOC thread for OLD JACK CITY-REDEMPTION

Please only post here if you're one of the following folks:
1- Ryo as Baba Yaga, Aging street sam

we're gonna be using orokos for the rolls as I'm already familiar with that site.

If yall don't mind, posting your characters here first thing would help me out a BUNCH

Here's some basic info on the main large gangs in the area.

1- Red five: a go gang from the atlantic beach area, They're mainly about extortion, smuggling, and mayhem for the sake of fun. Wear red X's and talk in star wars lingo. has no "official" leadership, but a guy who calls himself "Grand Moffuckin' Tarkin" seems to have a lot of pull with the rest of the squad. moreso than most, probably just cause he has the biggest balls.
2- Krubb Force: a primarily goblin gang from the emerson/phillips highway area. Drugs, gambling, prostitution. No identifying markers, but they only speak or'zet, and with a heavy local dialect, so non-members are fairly easy to root out. Locals ONLY. headed up by an aging ork called twine. He's smarter than he is ruthless, which is considerable. He runs the group almost like a business and so has several lower ranking officers as well as division heads and project managers.
3- Dixie Sisters Gang: A largely human inbred family run gang in the westside. Specializes in drug manufacture, manufacture and modification of illegal gear, chop shops, etc. All keep Green bandanas somewhere on their person. headed up by Jolene and Tammy Dixie, two hardcore old human ladies, chromed to bejeezus and mean as hornets.
4- Hermanos: An all awakened and spanish speaking gang that runs riverside efficiently and with nearly no violence. They're all about protection rackets, gambling, and extortion. run by complete democracy with no leaders of any sort.

Unknown by anyone outside gang circles, but suspected by some who care in police and the media, there has been a somewhat official gang truce in effect for almost 10 years now, with profits soaring for everyone involved.

As was mentioned earlier, there is very little info for jacksonville florida published in shadowrun, so if there's anything about the city you can't learn from google-maps that you'd like to know, feel free to ask and we'll figure something out, but please, for my own ease of book keeping, please dont post until everyone has had a chance to post their characters (except hazmat)

Almost finished story

"Johnny's a moron" Jay, barks bluntly at the female troll seated opposite. Jay’s probably Johnny's best friend in the gang and while he’s clearly angry, worry is sill apparent on his face.

Screw you Johnny, anyone else I’d a left em to rot. Owe me big, brother. You know I got ya back, but I know ya got mine.

He carries on, features softening slightly. ”Well, perhaps not a moron, definitely made moronic decisions… Bad habbits, worse decision making, the fools always a pain in the ass. Drek, if it wasn't for his damned luck Johnny'd be a footnote lady, an old memory …". He sighs, brief look of concern flashing over his face. Sally, the female troll seated opposite is visibly worried, trying her best to keep it together.

Damn this ork needs a bath. Sally frowns slightly, continuing to listen to Jay. Cept you, me and Gears, his bookie and dealer probably miss him the most, at least the nuyen Johnny owes em”

Jay leans back, arms behind his head, dropping his old, worn, mud caked boots on to the table. He lights up a joint, taking a long toke before offering Sally a hit. Wonder if that's why he's called Jay? ”Look Sally, Johnny's in bad shape. Bit off more than he could chew, bet too much on himself, gave the bookies a reason to deal with him. You sure you want to do this? Pay for his surgery? The damn fool is likely to get back in the drek as soon as he’s out. How you goin to pay for this when he can’t pay you back? Goes on another one of his benders?”

Sally tries, failing miserably to keep a straight face ”Just do what it takes, you’re the fools that dragged Johnny in to this, just fucking fix it alright!” Sally brings her fist down, hard, slamming into the table. An audible crack resonates throughout the room, Jay stumbling forward as the table shakes, feet quickly dropping toward the floor as Sally snaps it in two. She fails to notice the surprise and fear on Jay’s face, thinking, worrying about her brother.

Damn you Johnny, this is the last time I bail you out... The last time I can bail you out. Your turn now, brother, no way I can afford this surgery.

Beep….beep….beep…

Johnny slowly opens his eyes, the steady beep waking him from a deep, dreamless sleep. Drek…where the hell am I? trying to rise, he barely shifts his head. Fuck, not good, think Johnny… The last thing you remember… he doses slightly, the steady beep fading No, THINK, wake up… the race… I was winning, then…

thinking back, struggling to form the memories, Johnny remembers the race, the last bend. He was winning, drek, he'd have made it big had he won. He'd bet everything; sure he was going to win…

After days drifting in and out of consciousness, fragments of memory piecing themselves together, Johnny slowly recovers. Days pass, almost a full week before he fully regains consciousness. As he wakes, painfully sitting up for the first time, an shriveled old man enters, a the extent of his injuries. Damn, arm near clean ripped off, foot severed, burning to his left side. He reaches up, putting his hands to his face, laughing to himself ”Chicks dig scars, right? he chuckles, running hands over rigid, scarred flesh.

It takes months of rehab, drek, probably be faster but this ain’t no 5 star hospital. Johnny struggles, frustration clear. Lucy visits often, checking on his progress, keeping Johnny in line when he wants to quit and leave. Damn fool of a sister. Do better off on my own he thinks for a few moments”Guess I owe her one" he grunts to no one in particular, lighting a cigarette, chucking to himself ”Least they don’t mind me smoking here, benefit of drek healthcare right?”

Finally, after several, very long months of rehab, drek food and no damn beer... Johnny is released, moving in with Sally, well enough to recover at home. He lasts two days, claustrobofobia, boredon setting in. Time to head out… Time for a damn drink…

Johnny's quite drunk, shooting the drek with Gears, his oldest friend and longtime mechanic. "Jay got me out, man, getting me to my sister Lucy. Sent me to some street doc, Shit my arm and foot nearly missing, half dead, half cooked. Gang probably be pissed I left, wonder if the fuckers set me up... Now Sally gone taken a damn loan from some loan shark to fix me, get me back on my feet, shit ON my feet . Now I’m stayin with her, shark uppin the interest daily, drek I could make some easy money on the races, you know my picks are sharp …"

Gears leaves early "Don't put no bet on ya damn fool, Sally never let ya hear the end of it He shrugs on his coat, heading off in to the night. Drek, never did have the stamina to keep up. Johnny waves goodnight, muttering an almost incoherent reply. He takes a swig from his glass, glancing toward the poker table in the corner You know you can't play, sort yaself, go home. If ya had some cram bet that'd straighten ya out...That probably piss Sally off just as much...

Time to go, drek, Sally probably wonderin where I am Johnny downs the last of his glass going to stand before a stranger, an old man walks over, motioning the bartender for another round. "Heard ya talkin, back to full strength? You as good a driver as your say? I may have a way you can make some nuyen… a simple job…Help that sister of yours?

Dave Radcliff - C2 L3 - Small time talismonger with a shop that generally only pulls business from the surrounding neighborhood.  Most income actually comes from illegal trade, a large amount of which is dealing in black-market preparations prepared by Samuel and left at designated locations.  Likes the money Samuel brings in but doesn't entirely trust him (or anybody!) and would disavow him if it really came down to it.

Matthew "Rock" Mudday - C2 L5 - Neighbor from the first backstory blurb and Samuel's only real friend at this point.  Has a small mechanic/tinkerer shop where he does small time repairs for local people.  When you can't even afford the hundred nuyen for a new Meta Link, this is the guy you bring it to to rig it back to working condition.  Over time he noticed Samuel's frequent injuries and corresponding things happening in the neighborhood, figured out what he was doing and decided he had to help.  Was a chubby child, kids would poke him and call him "Muddy Matt" which caused him to get into weight lifting, leading to "Rock."

Isaac was a bright kid, knew it too. Knew he had a pull on his parents' money aswell. Guy and his wife were high up in the rankings at a smaller corp, but they had enough dough to make sure their family got what they wanted. So when they had Isaac, they wanted a smart kid who had everything, and in return they would give him the a place at the corp. Isaac grew up to be smart, he grew up to have what he wanted, but when he came of age, his late-night endeavors were ones most parents frowned upon. Kid got into fights, hung around seedy clubs, met seedy people. Kid was a good liar too, when he came home late or with a bruise, he knew how to melt his parents down into his playthings, lie after lie and they ate it up, their perfect angel. Like I said, smart kid, so when he got bored in class, he daydreamed, mouth hung agape like a cave. Kids started calling him Slackjaw, professors did too after a while. He loved computers, Isaac did, spent whole weekend afternoons up in the lab, fuckin' with the campus computers, administration noticed and locked him out, and that was it, until a few months later.

Kid knew how to get money from his parents, "school supplies" he said, "gotta fix up my car, can't be late to class can I?". He ended it with an 'I love you' and a smile, and when the trid cut off, and the funds slid into his account, he would smirk and say something marginally funny, wise-ass that kid. Anyway, used that honest money to buy dishonest things, a Datajack drilled into his head, a brand new shiny Cyberdeck. Slackjaw was born.

Got kicked outta university a lil' while back, admins caught him downloading the security camera footage from the women's locker room. Got close he told me, was going to sell it off to some perv for a big chunk of nuyen. His parents still adore him, don't know the details of the reason behind his expulsion, told some lie I'd assume. He's been buying some interesting things with mommy and daddy's money, and says he's lookin for 'work'. Kid's in over his head, but he might just pull it off by the skin of his tusks.


Going off of the 'golden boy' archetype, narrator is some dirty corp-sec officer hired by his parents to keep an eye on him, but Isaac pays better.

that way, you can just buy, say 200 bucks worth of craft materials instead of having to get so far into the specifics of your hobby lobby receipt.

Ok, that works for me.  I actually ended up charging myself 20 for each jar and the stickers, so I'll just change that to 28 craft materials for the same 140.

One other thing just to be sure, I assume you are cool with me being able to pick when I apply the +2 limit from the work area?  It didn't really occur to me until I had spent more time playing with the preparations I'll be able to make, but I have enough dice that if I'm doing a Force 3 or 4 prep I have a high chance of going into physical drain.  So it basically just becomes a boost on Force 1 and 2 preps until my MAG increases.

ETA: Just thought of an interesting element that could be added into the story at some point, if you wanted to.  I've been going with the assumption that Samuel's job is a "don't ask questions" kind of position- the boss man is the only one in contact with customers. Dave calls Samuel when there is an order, Samuel comes in, Dave tells him what to make and then takes it to give to the customer for timed preparations or tells Samuel where to stash contact preparations.  There is a lot of potential there for Samuel's preparations to be used by gangers and such in ways that he would very much not approve of.

I also just realized that I've put Samuel in a position where he should also be getting paid when he does this, so for you to actually make use of his job to inconvenience him also means he would be making money.  And I have no authority to make that kind of decision.  So you tell me what you want to do with it.
