I have an idea for my next run (it's going to be a one-off; probably going to hold off on my idea to introduce an AI antagonist until later), centering around an employee at the Gates Casino hiring the runners to take out (through whatever means they can make look accidental) key players in the Urban Brawl finals before the last game to rig the results. But I don't really know much about Urban Brawl beyond flavor text in a few books. Are there any official details provided for how the game works, i.e., player positions, length of playoffs, season runtime, etc? Ultimately it doesn't matter that much, but I like to provide as much detail as I can to help with the realism of the game, so the more info I can feed my players on demand, the better.

Yes! I would also like to see updated/current rules on Urban Brawl and Combat Biking.

Old run if you can get a hold of it that is based around Urban Brawl -- A Killing Glare - has the base rules.

And searching I found This -- which I think is a summary+ of 'A Killing Glare'.

On a related note, 'Dead Air' is a book that has some combat biking fluff in it.

I did an urban Brawl run myself as well, mostly based it around what I could found with google about the old stuff and so on.

Shadowbeat has basic information on the sport and there was a website (which was already posted in this thread) that gave detailed info. I suggest you modify that how you see fit as there has not been official info about it as far as I know.

For example, in my scenarios the governing body for the current league the teams were in, they had allowed magic as an experiment to see how it'd affect gameplay. There were also FAR less restrictions on weaponry in my game... The run itself was an extraction done in the midst of a game, due to it being the only time when they weren't surrounded by tons of guards. It involved lots of camera hacking, sneaking and skulking around and then going in fast, quiet and running out before the cameras realized one player was missing.

If you know any Missions GMs who might've gotten a copy a couple years ago, there's also Super Brawl Sunday, a CMP adventure (built on the shoulders of A Killing Glare and Shadowbeat, and collaborating a bit with the German guys who were writing their sourcebook at about the same time).

The link up-page, to that website, has a very accurate summary of the rules and positions, with the caveat that it's twenty-years out of date, in-game (since Attitude, for instance, flashy combat mages have been allowed, and teams often have a Decker along to manipulate AR and give the team an advantage, not to mention some league changes since 2054 with new teams being formed, old teams being gone or renamed, etc).

I'm not sure how much of it I can post here, without violating the NDA and Bull running me over at GenCon or something.

I swear to god, I would kill for a copy of Super Brawl Sunday.  I wish I could specifically request its presence for DragonCon; I'd sign up to GM it in a New York minute, just so I could get my hands on it.

Since my Great Computer Swap (tm) a few years ago, I'm not sure if I even still have a pdf or anything of the finished product...but I'm pretty sure I've still got my rough-around-the-edges word document lying around.  Lemme check with Bull, see if I'm allowed to share it now that it's this old, and from a prior edition, etc, etc.  Drop me a PM with a good email account, and I'll see what I can do.

Edit:  And we're a go to launch!

Thanks for the send.  I admit to a facepalm right at the beginning, though - hope it got caught in the editorial grinder.  The Mountain Dragons were deeded by the Big D to its players ... though I can see there being fine print in the will / executor's papers that, should said players not designate heirs, their share of the franchise should revert to the Foundation upon their deaths ...

There was enough going on a couple years ago with Nadja and the DF, it seemed easier to just blip the team back under DF ownership (or at least management).  Just a bit of a theme was going that summer, is all.

Works for me.  Like I said, there's plenty of in-game possibilities over the intervening 15 years - team members become DF patrons/members, etc. etc.
