Maybe I am blanking or missing something. But I feel like the way decking is described in the book is incredibly vague. By this I mean the actual act of decking not the die rolls. How do you guys do it? A complex? a Grid? A map that the decker has to navigate?, or just hack in and rummage around?

It's not so closely tied to the physical world that those types of metaphors would really work.  You know how in some movies a guy will just wave his hand to flip through various layers of VR images, find the one he's looking for and then stretch it using his fingers?  That's essentially how I'd describe a Matrix Search for a decker in AR.  You aren't moving so much as you're moving the data around you.

Used to do it that way for sr4 back when nodes existed. It's a bit different now tbh, probably visually nearer the shadowrun game on steam that's about a fiver at the moment!

Shadowrun Returns?

I always saw it more akin to the Netforce book to be honest. Each decker could choose their own background, code if you will. Some might see the Black IC as a knight, troll. Others might be as starships of a certain series, or class. Pretty  much whatever the decker most liked the look of, was a major fan of.

One of the questions I will be asking any potential deckers in my soon to started group, assuming all goes well.
When in doubt, C4.
