oh hey, GrimWulf is back.

Yeah, you are free to roll the resistance tests for Spirits. It makes things go faster. At Force 8 it gets two Optional Powers, so which ones are you giving it?

But just to confirm, Air spirits are your Illusion spirits. You can still ask it to attack, but it will prefer to use things like Confusion, Concealment, Fear and the like. If you want something that is going to tear this helicopter a new one, you would want to use a Beast spirit.

And you have 2 edge total, so you're down to 1 now.

I was looking to probably confuse the pilot, and use the accident power on them after.  So, fitting in OK with illusion IMO.

That will do him in for services, but let' go with fear and psychokinesis to round it out for the optionals.

Yup, that works good for illusion. So once Ace takes his turn, The magician will do a thing, you summon your guy, and then Masked Woman can take her action. Then it's on to the next pass.

Yeah, it's chugging along. Still a little slow for my tastes, since I'm so used to either Skype or an actual table. PbP is downright glacial compared to what I'm used to. I'm running one PbP and participating in two others, and I'm seriously considering starting a second PbP to more effectively get my Shadowrun fix.

@Tecumseh
Back on topic, I'm gonna go ahead and just say the Magician is going to use Astral Combat to try to shred the Masked Woman's soul on his turn. Nobody is in a position to try to stop him, so you can go ahead and just roll your defense test against that now. You've got 1 Edge left by my count, if you need it.

I'd probably play in a second PbP. We had that heady honeymoon of about 25 IC posts in the first 24 hours, plus a ton of OOC posts, which practically felt like tabletop. (In comparison, the PbP I GM has averaged 1 IC post per day for the last three years, if you wanna talk about glacial.)

I figured the action might come around to me with or without Ace's shot. Reading the rules, it is wonderfully ambiguous whether the Weapon Focus applies for an astral combat defense test. At this point I am guessing that it does not, since it only applies on attacks in the physical realm, even if the wording is less than ironclad. ("[A weapon focus] adds its Force to your Astral Combat Tests when you’re using it...")

Astral defense:

Intuition 6 + Logic 5 - 1 Stun = 10 dice = 5 hits

adding to Astral Combat Tests, to me, says 'rolls where you use the Astral Combat Skill.' So unless there is an Astral equivalent of Parry, then no, you wouldn't add the Weapon Focus dice.

But with 5 hits, you're probably fine. That's a hell of a defense roll.

I needed to have a good roll to make up for rolling 2 hits on 18 dice for my Surprise tests.

Ren hasn't been online for a couple days. How long would you like to wait for Ace?

If Tabula Rasa gets pushed to Page 2, I'll take his turn for him to keep things moving. I can generally guess what he was planning to do anyway. Simple Action to pick up the Hunting Rifle, and another Simple to Ready Weapon.

@GrimWulf:

Feel free to post in IC summoning your spirit, even if Ren hasn't posted yet. Neither of your actions will interfere with each other, so it doesn't really matter in what order you post them.

The Masked Woman will try out this Astral Combat thing herself. Can she tell if the opponent was trying to do Stun or Physical damage? If so, she'll respond in kind. If not, well, claymores are more stabby than stunny.

Willpower 6 + Astral Combat 3 + Weapon Focus 2 - 1 Stun = 10 dice = 3 hits, how average

Base damage is Charisma + 5 = 8 boxes

3 hits, tie goes to the defender, so you both take mental swings at eachother and both whiff.

So are you going to hang around, or are you going to use astral movement to get out of the helicopter? You don't have a second pass.

I've been debating that all day. I'm not sure how much good taking this guy out would actually do, although I suppose it would keep him from interfering with Ohanzee's spirit. Of course, Ohanzee's spirit is bigger than all of us and can probably take care of itself. I'm also not quite sure what she'd do if she returns to the van, other than maybe report on how many guys are inside the chopper, which doesn't seem hugely valuable.

She'll try to stick it out and dodge any attack in the next pass. I'll use my Free Action to declare Counterspelling. I'll post ICly shortly.
