I'm doing a campaign set in Nashville, CAS, and since there is nearly nothing written about it, I am building the city from ground up.

I'm looking for things that I may be missing:

Already Done
City Info:
Districts (basically main areas of the city and the surrounding suburbs, and including a "wilds" area that is lush forests with lots of awakened stuff)
Gangs (sizes, types, descriptions, turf, etc)
Security Companies (which security companies have jurisdiction over which districts, I have it split between Lone Star and KE)
Corp Presences

To do:
Mayor/Government players
Map (for team reference)
Clubs/Bars/Etc (giving the team flexibility on this to pretty much write in some of their own as well)

Is there anything obvious that I'm missing, or something that isn't major but may be fun to add?

In my experience the best thing is to have the districts sorted out so you can "Plug-in" other locations when needed and just write them down as you add them. Itīs a lot of work to try and create all from scratch but you can add things as they become relevant, just have an idea of where things might be.

Try and also map where the different kinds of lifestyles would be for runners residences or hideouts. (sidenote: it was quite funny when I told one of my players that he couldn't both have the low lifestyle and live at the cool side of town).

Locations that you should think of beforehand are also: street docs, talismonger, docwagon and any other facilities that runners are going to use constantly.

For fun stuff to add are historical sites or monuments, just go crazy and come up with whatever, it gives the place a lot of character

Really? There are C security zones in Bellevue at only a stone throw away from the AAA zones, whereas in Downtown they are as close as Ravenna and Columbia. Of course the Bellevue C zones are either the rougher southern part or the areas stuck against the Redmond wall, but still.

Anyway, mapwise this is Seattle's Security Zones: http://www.1w6.de/rpg/sr/map/ You may want to do something like that but rougher, basing it mostly on where the current downtown, luxury and business districts are. What Security ratings stand for is officially different in SR5, I kinda prefer the old ones since it separates business and pleasure. B = Low Business, C = Low Lifestyle, stuff like that.

Have you thought about organized crime by the way? Is there a single type, e.g. the Mafia, running the place? Or are there clashes between 2~4 of the types? For example, in Seattle the Mafia has been losing ground to the Yakuza for quite a while.
How am I not part of the forum?? O_O I am both active and angry!

Relations among families, gangs, politicians etc. Can definitely spice things up and add a lot of tension, and certainly many potential runs. Subcultures, depending on how profoundly you want to design it.

are you familiar with the Dresden Files RPG? It uses the fate system, but it has an excellent city building tool. You could use all of the concepts there to make sure your city is as much a character as the runners are!

I will have to check that out.

I'm also dying to try the Dresden Files game one day (I love the series)

alot of times, the broke side of town IS the cool side of town. over ten years, all the rich people move there and whitewash it, so its not the cool side anymore.

What do you want your city to be known for?
Is it bug infested ? secretly controlled by nosferatus?, some crazy mana background? gunslinging ghosts from the wild west? music enthusiastic shadow spirits?
Maybe find a Nashville real life myth and spice it up with the 6th world, nuyen, magic and cyber?

Someting thats makes people go "oohh Frag!/great That fancy/horrid place is known for "insert something unique, positive or negative"

I've begun working on it:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B84-_OXKmgadbU9ldU1KTllSMzA&usp=drive_web

Basically its going to be known as a smuggler's haven to get things across the CAS/UCAS border. I may throw in some music scene stuff too since that's what it is known for today.

I'm also throwing in a lot of paranormal stuff between the tunnels under Nashville (old siege tunnels dug during the civil war that are still around today) with HMHVV infected and then using an area just east as a paranormal wldland associated with the Cherokee Trail of Tears that runs through the area.

But right now I'm fleshing out the suburbs and stuff around the city and building off of that. But I'm definitely looking into other myths and stuff for the area to try to incorporate those. So far, this is a fun project.
