Mercedes hands the chip to B.B. "Get your techno-magic working on this, cherie. See if it can tell us anything."

"Well, I don't have a sim module, so slotting it is not in the cards.  I could just crack the chip, cut its timer protection to keep if from being erased when I dig into it.  But, like I said earlier, I've got no tools.  I really need to get to an electronics store."

[OOC: Regional Knowledge check to think of the closest electronics store. 5 Intuition + 1 Skill + 3 Limbic Nanites = 9d6.hits(5) → [5,4,3,4,4,3,4,4,1] = (1)  Meh.. I'll check my mapsoft..

[OOC: Kontact, why not do a Data Search? ;)]

"That sounds like a good idea, Cynthia. While we go look for a store for B.B., you can go ahead and get us the layout of the place."

I will head down the alley, and engage my chameleon suit. I'm going to look around the chalice outside.

"Uhhh... I usually go to De Gears down the 520 in Bellview, but the Redmond Center mall is right over there... I don't know what stores it has... I'll check the 'trix."

Daaaaaayuum.  Beefy roll. Enough to hit public info in one go.  Should be enough to find a business I'd guess.

Time: 8:53 PM
@B.B.:
The only close-by listed electronics store that's open at this hour is Degear's Electronics at 148th Ave. & 8th St. all the way back in Bellevue.  On an underground matrix database you do also find Hollywood Simsense Entertainment that's about 2 miles north near 168th Ave and 145th St. that should be open.

[OOC: your gang knowledge: Intuition 5 + Seattle Gangs 1 + Limbic Nanites 3=9 (2) 9d6.hits(5)=3.]

You're pretty sure that getting up to Hollywood will definitely cross some heavy gang territory, especially at this time of night, most likely Crimson Crush turf.  The Crush is an all ork gang which completely controls large swaths of the ork neighborhoods of Redmond.  They are virtually the only government that exists in most of these neighborhoods: they stock the food pantries, and provide the bread lines, toys and clothing for children, policing (3 laws: don't rob, don't rape, don't snitch), and have even been known to maintain the Wifi matrix coverage in deadzones.....and in return the local population turns a blind eye to all of their illicit business activities which are many and very diverse.  If they weren't only limited to neighborhoods of Redmond they would almost rival the Yakuza in organizational strength.

@Woofer:
[OOC: Your contact Abbey's of KE case files: datasearch 4 + browse 4 + Connection 3 + Obscure -2 = 9 (12, Complex action)
9d6.hits(5)=3
8d6.hits(5)=2 glitch...she'll use edge.
7d6.hits(5)=3
6d6.hits(5)=1
5d6.hits(5)=1
4d6.hits(5)=2...found something.]

The only contact which could help you at all is Abbey, your contact at KE forensics.  She agrees to do you this favor and she searches the KE databases where she finds '9 lives' associated with the disappearance of at least 8 young people dating all the way back 10 years or so.  The cases were never solved and were all closed, the significance of the game discounted as mere coincidence.  With respect to the symbol she doesn't find anything at all.

@Cynthia
The Chalice is not listed on Mercedes' mapsoft but B.B. finds it on an underground site to be only two blocks up Redmond Way in the opposite direction from Sonoma.  You take the back service alley which runs parallel to Redmond way, your ruthenium polymer occasionally catching some light off a street lamp and glistening like crystal clear jello covered in a fine, almost invisible hexagonal mesh.

The back of the building is littered with trash and smells like 2 week old banana-peel.  You hear the clattering of pans from inside the lit doorway which most likely goes into a kitchen as you stand crouched in the shadows.

I am going to check for security equipment, and try to figure out what ways there are into the club/bar.

Once I get done with a first look around I'm going to summon up a watcher.

Rolled on: 2010-10-14 16:30:26.703662
3d6 → [4,3,3] = (10)
BBCode
    3d6=10
I'll try again
Rolled on: 2010-10-14 16:31:42.613662
3d6 → [3,5,5] = (13)
BBCode
    3d6=13

Then make drain
Rolled on: 2010-10-14 16:32:39.483662
9d6 → [3,5,5,1,1,6,3,3,4] = (31)
BBCode
    9d6=31

No drain.

I'll tell him to astrally look around the building and tell me if it sees anyone or anything that is magically active

After a minute of pulling through data like a champ, B.B. had managed to get a line on a local electronics store.  Super store, it was not, but it wasn't back the way they came, which was something at least.  Also, it was probably open late, since it seemed like the kind of place that sold stolen goods out the back..

"Well, it's going to take me hours to crack this chip properly.  So there's no real rush.  I can't work on the gear and provide overwatch at the same time.  We might as well check the Chalice first.  If we don't pick up a trail there, we can gear up and I'll have some fresh data for you in the morning.  No use chasing down two leads at once, especially when we can't even act on anything I dig up for a couple of hours.."

I'll look around the outside again to get an idea of what type of security system they are using. If it looks easy I'll sneak on into the building

@Cynthia:
You look around and do notice a security camera perched over the back door, but it looks easy enough to get passed especially with your ruthenium polymer suit.  As you make your into kitchen and the pulsing beat of the music grows louder, in the back you see an Aztlaner looking dwarf on a soymilk-crate and a human both washing dishes and conversing in spanish.  One exit goes out to the source of the music, the other goes to a dark hallway.  The exit furthest from the aztlaners is the hallway.  Easily enough you slip around the gas burners and duck under the knee high space under some metalic flapping doors.  A short 4m long hall with the bathrooms on the left side hall also leads into the main room of the Chalice where the music is coming from.  When you peak around the corner, you see a rather small room with a bar and some booths.:
[OOC: The view from the middle of the room of one side looks like this:

The hallway Cynthia is in would come out behind the last booth.]

Most of the crowd who's wandered in look like they spent a little bit too much nuyen to look creepy.  Most of the black lipstick, blackened nails and eye-liner is probably nano-tattooed and the hair is fiber-optic so they can disengage it when they got to go to work in the morning.  Two elven males in their twenties at the bar are making out without much thought to their surroundings, but nobody seems to really care.

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to go out into the floor with a ruthenium polymer engaged.

@B.B.:
Jimmy Locke sends you a text message back:  "B.B., man something pretty big is stirring on The Courant, one of the VPN forums where I posted what you sent me just to see what people thought....Nexus is full, but once I log in I'll let you know if it has something to do with your little symbol."

@Everybody
[OOC: let me know if you guys want to check out the Chalice with Cynthia]

<<B.B.@Jimmy: Make sure to wear layers when you go out there.  If the police files I just got on this thing are legit, then this crazy shit has been going on since decker days.  If a dude has been keeping it QT since pre-crash, then he's probably silenced a few snoopers before.  I.. uh, didn't mean to bring you anything this heavy.  I appreciate the help, for sure, but don't go sticking your neck out too far on my account.  I don't need any more dead friends.>>

"So, what do you guys say?  You two chat up a few of the regulars to see if we can pull a lead out of the people, meanwhile I'll comb the club's digital space for signs of the code?  I promise not to fuck around this time.."
Pausing for a moment in though.. B.B. continued.  "By the way, remember that we're two whole weeks behind these kids.  The trail might be pretty cold.. Cold like a Dracula..."

"Guys I am in a hallway off the backroom. It is dark and moody. I'm thinking I want to go invisible and continue on in unless someone has a better idea. The room is just off the kitchen from the back so if you stand by near the backdoor and things start to go bad it shouldn't take long to reach me so I don't think I'll be in much danger, but like I said I'm open to ideas. I'm not looking to go mono e mono with a troll again today. Once a day is enough for me."  ;D

"Well, we're not really dressed for the club, but I don't know if I own enough kohl and black corsets to ever fit in anyway. I vote for going in the front and making new friends. I may even have an idea to get the to feel more willing to talk to us. What do you say, Marcus?"
