Even bone-weary and emotionally drained, Taylor can't keep a small smile from creeping in as Winston greets him at the door.  He tosses the sprite a virtual treat and pats him on the head.  Knowing Victoria is off in the Resonance he doesn't bother looking for her.  He quickly tidies up the mess from the afternoon and heads up to his room.  He doesn't even finish undressing before falling face first onto his bed, letting sleep wash over him.

Don't give a frak about you, or who this is going to, but if you think I'm falling for that you must think me a very fresh fish indeed, mate. Essentially "F*ck you" but I like to be respectful.

Silas said as he continued running towards the church as fast as he could, gathering magical energy as he did so. He really should have summoned a spirit for this, didn't realize it would be this hard however. Had Callie set him up to fail? He focused on making everything metal in the area surronding him heat up, burn whatever it was touching, or at least give the sensation of it. He realeased the energy, and thankfully this time he didn't leech anymore energy from himself with the magic, something that was very relieving as he continued running for his life.

"Seems like a simple enough job, drive up there, do some aerial mapping, check out an old base.  I hope to get up there and take a couple of flights then be back down in a bit.  I figure it's probably best not to take my nicer car up there though, think I can leave her with you?  I hope to not actually be out and about camping much just passing through and then back to the south I go."

@profgast_____
Yeah not a problem at all, stick it on the drive and I'll make sure it doesn't come to any harm.
So, hows the old smoke been treating you? glad to be back up north eh?

He winked and took another swig of the fire-water, offering you a top up on yours

@Saithor____
All hell was breaking loose around you, the gangers starting to realise the phantasm was just that suddenly dropping their bats and knives as the spell kicked in, screaming about burns to their hands.
The watcher kept up, its shimmering astral form relaying more of it's creator's reply.
Now now, you're clearly not a business person are you? Don't put the offer on ice before it's even been properly proposed....
The ground in front of you snap froze, aided by the slush and snow from earlier in the day, becoming lethally treacherous underfoot, keeping your balance at full sprint was nigh on impossible...
Slip test as per "ICE SHEET" spell please

@Zwei______
The sun shone brightly as you played on the swings, leaning back and pulling forward as hard as you could on the chains to lift yourself into the air, ever closer to the clouds.
A piercingly blue sky stretched out for eternity above you at your favourite park, the one just down from your primary school on the way home.
The ice cream truck's tune resonated sharply, a piercing howl that seemed right for your environment but something deep within you said didn't quite fit.
Spinning your head to face it, you could see it pull to a halt beside the dark green painted fence that formed the boundary of the park, the other kids running towards it excitedly at full tilt, parents in tow.
That wave of excitement washed over you as well, the thought of a '99 ice cream with a chocolate flake and sprinkles lighting up a beaming smile on your face.
perception test please, just attrib + skill

@Lumen______
you @ 19
Grunt 1 6+2d6=15 15
Grunt 26+2d6=10 10
Grunt 3 6+2d6=11 11

The foot traffic ahead of you was dense, a large crowd stopping at the foot of the steps whilst they figured out which line they needed to board, typical fucking tourists and typical fucking timing!
You're on first pass, pushing through the crowd is a complex action and will move you at 1/2 walking rate. more creative solutions might mean you make better progress through them :-)
you've got about 50m of relatively dense foot traffic to clear before hitting the pay-barriers at the top of the escalators down to the platforms

*Fuckin' tourist wankers!  If I don't think of something quick those blokes will be on me and then I'll have to make a scene.  Guess I don't have much of a choice...*

Knives wades into the crowd, shouldering his way past the loitering masses towards the pay-barrier.  In his many years on the streets Knives had pretty much mastered weaving in and out of crowds but with all these slack jawed bumblers around that was not an option.  After a few meters of progress he tucks his head into his jacket and yells, "OH MY GOD!  That bloke's got a gun.  Run!"  He keeps his head down and continues to try to push his way towards the tube station.

-10 Ini
Complex Action: Move through the crowd.  At half walk speed Knives makes it 7 meters into the crowd.
Free Action: Speak.  I'll try a Con test to make it convincing, and pushing the limit.
Con 2 + Charisma 2 + Edge 3 = 7d6.  7d6.hitsopen(5,6)=2  Not great...
Current Edge 1/3.

Ice puns? Really? Well you can go to hell Arnie, because I don't betray my employers. Unlike you apparently, my loyalty's worth more than a little bit of nyuen. Silas thought as he tried to keep his footing on the suddenly slippery ground he was on.

"Life in the Smoke's been ok so far.  Biggest downside is the cost compared to up here and I have to sometimes do a little extra labour to make ends meet.  But there's also a lot of opportunity so it's worth it.  At least right now."

Ena swirls the liquor in her cup a bit before downing the rest of her drink.

"Anyhow Evan, thanks for the drink and for the advice.  I'll drop by again after this job's done but I should probably not dawdle too much."

She grins

"And make sure you take care of yourself you old pirate.

@Saithor_____
Ice sheet F4: 10d6.hits(5)=3, three hits
You barely manage to remain stood up, ankles kicking out sideways as you desperately bid for traction on the icy surface.
Very well. You leave me no choice.
A shimmering dome erupts out of the ground around you, hemming you in on the ice. It felt solid to the touch and would take plentiful force to penetrate it, punching it only hurt your hand
Feel free to roll for initiative here if you don't want to piss about any more and return fire, otherwise i guess destroy the barrier or counterspell it as you see fit

@Profgast______
Shit, that was short and sweet.{finishes glass and goes to hug you} Come 'ere!
He beams a big smile at you and nudges your shoulder.
Its good to see you again kiddo, stay a night or two when you're done alright?
Feel free to IC the drive up north/motel on the m6/whatever you want. don,t go further than the turn off for the A66 though

@Lumen_______
The crowd nearest you screamed and ran in all directions, though mainly back towards the steps to street level. Panic set in as the people out of earshot of your shouts clocked the state of alarm of their co-shoppers and headed for the exit. For you heading the other way, it was like swimming into a tsunami wave, it was all you could do to just hold onto the tiled wall and maintain your position, but at least you knew it would be the same for your pursuers.
As the majority of the crowd dispersed up the exits you got straight back on it, shoving and pushing your way to the barriers.
the three maxwell thugs advance up to the emerging crowd at the top of the stairs with sprint actions, you're up again.

@Zwei_______
You looked around for mum in the park, desperately scouring the usual benches and pathways she often talked to other parents by, but alas, you couldn't see her. A wave of panic overcame you and you desperately tried to slow the swing down, trying to scuff your feet across the ground to get a bite of friction but the ground stubbornly refused any purchase, shifting away from your feet as you stretched.
The icecream truck's tune became more and more dischordant, sinister even and the line of over happy kids stretched off into the middle distance, the park stretched out of all physical boundaries to accommodate it's size.
With no other option to get of the swing left, you hurled yourself off at the apex of the parabola and braced yourself for the sickening impact.
The ground raced towards your face and the feeling of deceleration jolted you awake miliseconds before you smashed face first into the hard floor.
Sweating profusely you come to, disoriented and pale in your bed.
The home node chimed happily as it announced an incoming call from  a restricted number

Taylor jolts at the sound of the comm ringing, and sits bolt upright.  Cold sweat drenching his t-shirt and the sheets.

Silas shot off more curses as he focused on tearing apart the construction of mana that had formed in front of him. He poured his own magic into it as he willed the invisible barrier to cease it's existence.

Knives braces himself against the forces of the panic he just created.  Clinging tightly to the tile he waded through the initial rush then continues his efforts to make it to the pay barrier.

Ena gave Evan a quick embarassed hug as a farewell before ducking back into the bar proper, and then outside.   As she made her way to the rendezvous to her GMC, she made a mental note for the drone-brain of her Shin-Hyung to move to Evans' before buckling in for the drive north.  While pulling out of the Merseysprawl she took the time to double-check the status of her scouting drones before she ran out of Grid-Guide and had to take over manually.

Well everything looks good, just a couple hour drive now out now to what the map calls "Penrith" and then onto the real work.

@Zwei____
The calm voice of the ward sister replied;
No, Its not your mum, but i am calling you about her condition. She stabilised overnight and is responding well to the treatment so far. The doctors are going to attempt to lift the sedation later this afternoon all being well. She'll want to see a friendly face if she wakes up. I'm finishing my shift shortly but Annette will be running the day shift. I hope all goes well.

@Saithor_____
The barrier flickered and faded under your counterspell and finally relented, fading back into the mana it was woven from.
Picking yourself up as best you could on the slippery surface, you carried on heading towards the church but your stomach sank as a heavy SUV with tinted windows screeched around the corner.
Its doors opened with a mechanically assisted grace and a booming voice shouted out of it:
You messenger yes? Get in.

Silas didn't have much choice. Worse came to worse, if the guys inside the SUV weren't the receives, he would just rip them a new one and borrow the SUV. He clambered inside and said "Better get driving, this idiot has a bunch of guns and a good amount of magic."

"Oh, thank you Sister.  I'll be there as soon as I can."

Taylor quickly gets showered and goes about trying to clean up the place.  Still mentally exhausted between the run on the Lord, crashing the blockade and his sainted mum having a stroke, it's amazing he can function at all.  Thinking back to the run he remembers he still has the data, Bex never got back to him.  That worries him somewhat, but his priority is his mother right now.  He sends her another coded message letting her know that he's busy, but still has her data when she wants it.  He hopes he'll still get paid even if she doesn't need the data anymore, but this wouldn't be the first time a runner got stiffed on a job, even by "friends."

Work's been steady, but he's still a little short for rent due at the end of the month.  Yet another thing to worry about.

Pushing that out of his mind for now, he finishes his breakfast and heads to the hospital knowing his mum won't be coming around until the afternoon, but he wants to be there just in case something happens.
