Yes ... join combat means materializing and doing the action. You might want the first action as materialize. (or include it as part of the astral travel) - both are fine. ;)

But yes, before all the spells and attacks a spirit definitely materialize.

Sorry, was just asking since materializing is a complex action.

gilga, Csjarret, would you be terribly offended if we ended your combat situation without rolls?  The guy is dazed and could be easily overtaken in a couple of combat rounds.

If you'd like the IC post, feel free to play it as you wish. Probably best with Flea, since she is physically on site.
Works for me!

Sure, no problem.
kind of a shame that we wasted posting cycles on this combat as we could have moved the plot forward, but I see your point. There is no point in wasting days doing a 'boring' combat, when the rest are waiting.

I do apologize for that.  I made the mistake of splitting up combat too much.  It leaves the others with too little to do when they finish, and as someone else mentioned, it drags what are seconds in games into days IRL.  I've got to watch that.  I'm still finding my pace, been awhile since I've run a game in any system.

In other news; IT can't really manifest from her astral form like you mention in the IC thread.  She'll just return to the trunk of the car.

If you mean that as more of a flavorful ghostly appearance that Flea can see and interact with in the physical world, I don't think its in the rules, but I like it.  Let's make that a thing mages can do if it isn't already.

@Siren

The pace may have been slow, but the multiple ambushes were good for setting up the mood. You'll find your pace don't worry.

@Siren - I think you may be confusing between manifest - letting a mundane person see you when on the astral - still being in the astral and cannot effect the regular world. (good for communication and stuff). I think that mages can talk to mundanes by manifesting when they project. This creates a ghost like semi transparent representation of the mage that people can see.

Yet, they cannot cast spells or do anything that effect the meat world.  I don't mind if you cannot do it- I mean there are many versions to this game. I just point that up because I think there was a confusion between the two.
Manifest I think that both mages and spirits can do.

The other power is materialize - that gives you an actual body in the meat world that only spirits can do.

About the specific - since there are so many versions of this game that I am okay either way...the talk to Flea could have also been done few seconds later with the matrix.

Since manifesting is really cool to do... I find it in the rule book:
core rules p 314:

Quote
Manifesting
A purely astral form such as a spirit or an astrally projecting
magician can interact with the physical plane
by manifesting. Manifesting is a psychic effect that lets
you make yourself visible and audible on the physical
plane through an act of will. Manifesting takes a Complex
Action to engage or disengage. You appear on the
physical plane as a ghostly, hazy image of your astral
form and may freely communicate with physical characters.
Unlike the Materialization power of spirits (p. 314),
manifesting doesn’t give you a physical form, so you
can’t interact with anything physically (or be harmed by
physical attacks). It’s a psychic connection, so you can’t
cast spells on targets on the physical plane while you’re
manifesting. For the same reason, technological devices
can’t detect or record you. You’re still on the astral plane,
so astral attacks can still target you. Manifesting is pretty
taxing, so you can only manifest for a total of your Magic
Rating x 5 minutes per astral projection session.

Haha - I think that we should use the bike. It has all the goodies already loaded.
If nobody mind, since I think IT's drones are awfully under gunned I may want either the bike or just the gun on (some other drone) in her PAN so she has something that shots hard- I sort of feels like bringing a teaser to an assault rifle game.

Ah, I stand corrected.  I did confuse the two.  Apologies.

A few hours in a workshop and you should be able to swap out the weapons on one of your Dobermans... Yako doesn't have the gunnery skill or initiative to take advantage of the extra toys on it.

IT can add Max Blank as a 2/1 contact.

Alright, combat is over.  A few of you already have or will soon be able to get vital info on your targets and objective.  After tonight, 1 night remains before the Tea Festival during which the mudang is vital.  Let the RP and planning commence.  Flea is at the Temple, and the others can get there quickly if they wish.  If some wish to travel to the Cathedral, it is about 3 hours away with some reckless driving.

lets challenge you a bit hacking the com-link james brought:
hack on the fly to get a mark look at messages
1. hack on the fly: 16d6t5 4

by the way - hacking the thing may require many rolls since the device is not protected and IT gets 16 dice for all the actions ( I kept her simple). Can we just take 4?  I think 4 hits are breaking into the commlink with high probability.
And depending on what we want to do with the commlink  we need between 1 to 3 marks, some roles for edit files and so on.

Sorry for the extremely brief IC, but I'm trying to get us all in the same room again as quickly as possible so we can move along.  Also, today is a little busy at the dayjob, so I might not be around as much as usual.

I need to carefully read the IC about the computer search (that seems so long ago) before I can do an IC.
