For me, one of the top pieces of gear in R&G is the ballistic mask. In combination with YNT Softweave it provides 12 slots for customiziation. That's so much room that I almost don't know what to do with it.

So I'm asking you: What gear do you have implemented into your mask?

I usually leave any visual devices alone, since I prefer to use glasses and contacts.
500 NY for Electrochromic modification are well spent for the many options a video screen instead of a face provides (basic camo being the least of it) (0 Capacity)
An internal air tank is useful against gas attacks, under water insertions or for the indescribable feeling of having +500 ltr. of air compressed right in front of your face... (1 Capacity)
A jammer in your mask will prevent all those nasty little wireless spying sensors to narc on you. It's also an excellent way to improve your PAN's defense against hacking attempts. (2 Capacity)
Autoinjector becomes an Autoinhaler (Change the appearance of your electrocromic face to red eyes when the kamikaze kicks in) (2 Capacity)
A Sensor Array and integrated Trodes give you the extra senses necessary to know it's gonna rain and that the cute little secretary is packing major cyberweapons (6 Capacity)

And still [3] more points of capacity to spend...

Internal air tanks in this case are additional air supply for gas masks, and cost 40¥ per hour. You don't get immunity to inhalation vectors for less than [2] Capacity. ;)

With that in mind, I'd stick a gas mask and a biomonitor in there. If you consider the default gas mask's air supply enough, I'd take  a cyberware scanner, too.

The cyberware scanner is of course in the Sensor Array.

Gas mask. Various vision upgrades. Voice mask. Microtransreciever could be an option. Some gecko tape to make sure no one rips the mask of off you.

Oh, that really sounds like fun if you plan to go into a melee. Only the restriction rating will probably take this quite fast out of range for the typical runner.

The problem with loading too much into these masks is that they are unavailable much of the time.

You simply can't walk down the street (unless you're in the Barrens) or go to any decent business while wearing one. That means most meets and legwork phases don't let you have access to whatever goodies are in the mask.

I usually put a gas mask in and, if I'm feeling rich and can get hold of some, RPC coating for it.

How is it possible to turn it into something like the Sleeping Tiger? According to the fluff it just makes the cloth invisible, not the body beneath.
Wouldn't that be a great Enhancement for masks and helmets?
If Tom Brady’s a Spike Baby, what does that make Brees and Rodgers?

By having it match the terrain behind you, which is how most active camouflage systems work. 
Would you want to go into a place where the resident had a drum-fed shotgun and can see in the dark?

Or, if you're clever, you have sensors on the inside of the mask, to image your face, so the mask itself is invisible.  And if you're really clever, it takes the facial cues from you, but projects a face that isn't yours ...

Possible, but unlikely given the description of the trid projector on page 439:
"The hologram can be quite realistic, but unless you’re really artistic about it, it’s pretty obvious that it’s just trid."

Well, that would finally make the artisan skill useful.

Have your artisan work on his holograms to create a threshold that an observer has to beat to recognize the hologram as fake.
