Keep a distance of ten steps.

Torrent bolted forward.

(At every intersection he will be using Motion Sense. If he perceives motion he will be using the periscope camera)

Torrent opened the door into the hallway. The first thing he saw, was a man in a white labcoat, lying unconscious on the floor. A line of stick'n shock tazer needles dotted his torso. The ork in a security overall beside him wasn't so lucky: Someone had shot him with flechette right in the unarmored face, transforming his flesh into ground beef. In his lifeless hands, he still clutched his smg, a Onotario Arms Sig-6.

The fire fight had destroyed several workstations across the lab they came from. There were still gunshots ringing out, but Torrent's motion sense told him, that at least in there immediate vicinity no-one was moving.

Moving south they came across more unconscious researcher. Most had been tazed, but a few had been shot with gel ammunition. All in all there where four unconscious people and one corpse.

Torrent moved from his cover until the shuttle dock came into view. There a single man in the same garb, that torrent now wore, guarded the door.

Torrent had noticed him well in advance, so that the guard hadn't spotted him. Still the shooting could be heard, but it had to have moved another floor upstairs, as far as the sound in here could be trusted.

(Guard failed it's perception check, you have a surprise round)

Torrent knows he can't give the guard any chance to react.
His disguise should buy him a split second of doubt.

It is all he needs.

Krestov gave a nod as the plan was established, acknowledging each of the positions.  "Agreed.  Slobbertooth, you better at range than I.  Take back and keep close.  bnc, stay behind me.  Consider me personal wall."  He tapped his microtransceiver active, establishing connection with the others before they moved out.  He kept pace with Torrent, remaining ten steps back at all times, his shield held at his side, ready to snap in front or behind as necessary.  When Torrent hit the junction, Krestov held up his free hand to call a halt, waiting for the infiltrator to act.  When he darted behind the corner, Krestov moved to join him, rounding the corner...and seeing the guard paralyzed on the floor.

Krestov shook his head, allowing a smirk on his jawline to appear as he stacked up, eyeing the unconscious and one dead bodies as they passed.  "We are not only guests party crashing.  This can get messy.  How close to objective?"

The paralyzed guard still had a surprised look on his face while his breathing had become short and panicky.

Torrent took point and moved past the elevator that had shutdown while the base operated on auxiliary power. Heavy steel doors had closed of the large area that their map had designated as the main testing area and weapons lab.
Another such door had closed off the access to the cellar stairs. A keycard reader flashed a red warning sign beside it: Emergency Lockdown.
The casing had been damaged by a stray Stick'n Shock bullet and lose cables were visible.

Suddenly the whole base became silent: The shooting on the higher levels had stopped...

Slobbertooth motioned over towards the Onotari Sig-6 for Krestov to pick it. "If we need it. It'll pack more of a punch than your Crusader II. I'll have K fence it later."

"Noted.  Will carry, but handle is too small for my hand.  Thank you"  Picking up the Onotari, he slipped the spare mags into his belt and checked the ammo counts briefly before confirming it loaded and ready, slinging it over his back before falling in behind Torrent.  He gave room for bnc to file in to help as needed.  During the wait, he remarked how well-rested he felt...no fatigue, no aches.  If anything, the conditions were perfect for a run, thanks to their month of hibernation...

As the noise died, Krestov's hairs stood on end as his muscles coiled, eyes instinctively scanning behind them for movement, proving to be an effective rear guard while they worked the door.

The skinny girl moved past the two adepts and inspected the maglock. She smiles as she realizes that it is directly available and prays to all gods she doesn't believe in that it is still slaved to the host. This would be the chance she was hoping for ever since she agreed to the run.

She pulls a thin cable from her datajack, frowning for a second (only an very, very, very, very rare occasions she uses hardware connections, and it always made her feel vulnerable despite she knew that this was crap). She plugs in the cable and swings her magic wand.

To her great disappointment  the lock was not connected to the Host at the moment. But at least this made it pretty trivial to open the door.
Now that bnc had had time to study the casing, she realized that the damage had not been an accident. Whoever shot at the lock wanted to prevent anyone from using their access keys.

Down the stairs an unmistakable smell reached their noses: Blood and lots of it.

Torrent in the lead again relied on his motion sense, but couldn't make out anything. The red emergency lighting gave the whole situation a menacing atmosphere.

At the base of the stairs they found the source of the smell: One of the base security lay on his back. His suit had been cut open and his disemboweled entrails formed a crude star. With his blood and guts someone had formed a rough circle around him and even scrawled some kind of script or hieroglyphs around the edges. Further ahead a trail of blood led to a room with a big sign on the doors: "Server room - NO unauthorized access beyond this point - Warning, automatic defense systems active - You will be shot and persecuted."

bnc follows her comrades and so far her nerves have proved stable. But at the sight of the disemboweled corpse it's too much. She turns white as chalk, turns to side and vomits heavily.
"These ... diese Schweine!! Who does a thing like that."

She is close to tears, but clenches her fist. "Let's ... let's move on." WIthout realizing, she grasped for Krestov's hand, shivering.

Slobbertooth maintains his composure, but internally grimaces at the girl's nausea. What's she going to do when we're the ones geeking people? Fear is one thing, but we''ll be hosed if we have to drag a dorpher decker through a firefight because she's immobilized by nausea. Slobbertooth audibly sighed, shook his head and then looked back at Torrent.

"It's still your show, chief. Lead on."

There were times when Torrent regretted the fact that he never committed himself to learning how to perceive the astral world. This was one of those times. He turns to bnc

Are these symbols arcane?

He draws his pistol ready to follow the trail but something holds him back.

You know what Slobber?I've been thinking...if those automated defenses are still operating maybe Krestov should take the lead
