The intruder had no chance: While lying flat on his back, Torrent pounced like a cat and hit the essential nerve cluster just beside the neck. The man instantly froze, only his eyes kept moving and his breathing began to increase rapidly.

From one level up, muffled voices could be heard - it seemed that the intruders had started a methodical search for their attackers. It wouldn't be long before they came down...

"Excellent work. I guess I owe you that Fairlight after all." Schmitt had risen from his sitting position as far as his cuffs allowed. "But from the sound of it, there are some more of those mercenaries around. Be careful, some of them have taken two of our experimental HX-22s."

Slobbertooth went over to the paralyzed intruder, kicked off the poor soul's helmet, and sent a bullet into the intruder's skull. Slobbertooth looked back towards the doctor, the expression on his face revealing no sympathy for the guard and no revulsion at what he had done.

"I'm hoping those HX-22s are the laser weapons that the intruders have. We don't need enemies with more experimental weapons."

"Oh, and you wouldn't happen to have any experimental automatic weapons lying around the base? If you have any fit for trolls we would be extra appreciative."

Schmitt rolled his eyes but ignored the engineer:
"It's actually designed to be carried by drones, but your friend might be able to handle its weight."

During the breach, once he confirmed bnc was conscious and mostly alright, Krestov simply uttered a single word to the human as a command.

"Down."

Simple, easy to understand.  Once the fight was over, he picked the disoriented hacker up and carried her into the room, helping her to her feet before getting the hostages to theirs, starting with their client, Dr. Schmitt.  He listened intently to the banter, perking up at the mention of a weapon he could use.

"Ruhrmetall Heavy Machine Gun.  MET2000 invention, released to market after botch in South America.  You improved?  Where is, maybe worth a try."

A few moments later, the troll straightened up, reloading his Crusader with a fresh mag finally.  "Reminder of objective.  First is handle incoming threat.  Then find way to neutralize blood spirit.  Escape not likely before that"  "Aztech incursion is...unexpected.  Can shed light on reason, Dr?"

bnc grins widely. Check! It doesn't quite pay for the bloody blood spirit or the laser guns chasing after us, but you have to be happy for the little pieces of luck in life, don't ya?

"Krestov darling, would you mind undo Mr. Johnson while having a chat?"

bnc crouches down next to Torrent and examines the wound. Simple, clean bullet wound, but they scratched the vena saphena magna.

With tender fingers, she applies a blood platelet comediator to stop the bleeding more quickly. Then she fixes a self-stabilizing bandage to make it easier for Torrent's leg to support the man. While waiting for the bpc to work, bnc asks: "Do you need some drugs? There are painkillers in the box, and I have some pills in my, er, private storage, who might help to make up for the numbing effects of the pain killers..."

If I didn't miss something, Torrent should be down to 1P now.

Now that's done, she can focus on one idea. Dr. Schmitt said that these laser weapons were designed in the underground base. This might indicate that their wireless functions might never have been turned off. Especially for a weapon with limited charge, it might be crucial to share this and other informations with the crew. With luck...

bnc actively stretches out her feelers to look for the laser weapons, openly visible, hidden or disguised. If she can find their icons, she might be able to roast the weapons. Or do nicer things.

The pain retreats and the flow of blood stops along with the dizziness.
The elf crouches near the entrance and lets the walls support his weight  for a while.

"Is this just a tech theft?A hostile takeover?A violent extraction of assets?And more importantly, is Dr. Schmitt of any special importance to the intruders?I guess we can't take any risks."

Torrent begins to remove the armor and beneath the helmet, his face transforms again.

bnc smiles shily. This is one of the moments where you can tell that she is a teenage girl after all. But there's no time to be a teenager right now. bnc focussed on the two laser guns and any means to prevent them from being used against us.

Slobbertooth took the time to refill his Ruger with 3 rounds of APDS ammunition, holstered it, and raised the Colt TMP at the door.

Schmitt reacted remarkably quick: "No, no, no. Forget it, under no circumstances whatsoever!" He quickly strode over to Torrent and said to him in a whisper: "Stop, we might have a traitor here. Don't reveal your ace. If we do a switch, we'll do it in private."

Much louder he said: "I hope I made myself clear, I won't tolerate such behavior from my consultants."

He turned again to Krestov who looked a bit sad at the giant HMG.
"You don't seem happy with our selection. Well, you can always use that sentry-turret over their with the SF-21 and leave the aiming to your charming computer specialist."

He indicated towards a sturdy three legged contraption with small push wheels and an elaborate servo-mechanism.

"We have currently only flechette ammunition in the belts, to prevent accidental hull breaches..."

"Hey, what about us, could you please remove those cuffs? I think my arm is starting to go numb", the engineer called Donnie piped up.
"Would fit to your head" Schmitt muttered under his breath. Loud he said: "In due time. For the moment you all have to stay down and keep out of the way. These men are professionals, and there will be a lot of lead in the air in a few moments."

He moved again towards the team an muttered: "This is a hostile takeover attempt. Cray-Ken Industries, a subsidiary of Aztec. They want to prevent us from destroying research and prototypes. Someone within the facility has betrayed us and opened the locks before sabotaging the hosts. Trust no-one of the other civilians."

Krestov gave an affirmed nod to the suggestion, checking over the ammunition count on the belts for the big gun before assisting in mounting it on the mobile sentry turret.  Already, he was preparing his stance and approach to make it mobile with him if they needed to be on the go.  Calmly and quietly, the troll spoke to Dr. Schmitt.

"Not first time with Aztech.  Recommend you stay down for next few moments.  Can use weapon?"  He gestures towards the SMG on his back, seeming like a child's toy in the troll's hands.  His eyes scanned through the room, looking for ways to establish cover before they arrived.  [color]"I will take point, fan out behind me.  bnc, gun will be at my side, open fire when able.  Find someplace safe."[/color]

Schmitt nodded, checking the SMG expertly but still a bit reluctantly. "I'll take cover over there until the shooting stops."

bnc was still shaken and accompanied Schmitt into cover behind a stack of armor plates. The team could hear the boots of the remaining intruders coming down the steps to the first level.

Krestov had just enough time to bring the HMG into position before eight soldiers came into view. The fight was on.
