"Boys, she's immobilized. Still, don't go near under any circumstances. Don't even allow her to see you. Do we have anything to finish this?
"It seems we need heavy stuff for it. Or something hot - the armor is designed for cool environment.
"Finish her off, but don't give her a chance to cast a spell."

Don't mess it up, now. Goddamn, how  difficult can it be to kill an immobilized wounded mage?

bnc fights down the urge to vomit. The deepweed releases its effect more and more, and she can feel the polluted and corrupted energy around her. This is nothing like the experience she already had. This is her worst nightmare. Kill that monster, and do it quick, or I'll do it myself!

Slobbertooth exhaled and reset his aim. He briefly considered trying to walk up to execute the mage, but thought better of it. "And I really wanted that armor too."

He blinked to change his firing mode, and squeezed the trigger

Free Action (smartlink): Change Firing Mode Full Auto to Semi Auto
Simple Action: Aim (+1 Accuracy, +1 dice pool bonus)
Simple Action: Automatic Burst (No time to adjust the firing mode, mates)
Spend Edge: Push the Limit +3 to Dice pool, sixes explode, ignore limits.
Called Shot, Vitals: -4 to hit +2 Damage

Semi Automatic Attack + Edge Called Shot: 17d6h5 7
Base Damage 13+2p -3AP
Net Damage Code: 22p -3AP.

No Dodge.

10 automatic soak
12 P vs.20 Armor
Soak: 20d6t5 7
5P

Total 11P

Biomonitor tells you, she is unconscious

The Ork adept fired and again his concentrated shots proved effective: Immobilized as she was, all bullets fell within the same small circle, penetrated the armor and at least one explosive round managed to explode within its confines.

bnc could see it on the woman's bio-monitor: Her blood pressure fell rapidly and her consciousness fled.

Immediately, the disgusting fluid on the armor vaporized and left the metal once again clean and shiny - if you didn't count the scourge marks left by the teams attack.

For a moment it was completely silent. Then Hank could be heard over the intercom:
"Whatever you did, it was effective. That squid thingy just dissolved. Get to the hangar, I'll have the boat ready."

bnc drops offline instantly, sighing with relief. Only the autosystems prevent the drone from crashing on the floor.
"She is dead.", she announces needlessly.
She turns towards her friends and smiles. "And we're not." bnc gets up a bit awkwardly, stretching and enjoying the vivid spectrum of colours indicating that the astral space in this place reclaims its healthy nature. Her smile may look a little bit stupid, but genuine.

Slobbertooth unholstered his Ruger and walked over the mage. "Dead or just unconcious?" His intended action was clear if it turned out to be the latter.

"Think any of this busted armor can be sold to the highest bidder or repurposed for bnc, Krestov?"

"Dead as a bone, Slob. She ain't gonna deader than dat."

Now that the tension falls off her, her self-defense begins to collapse. She goes limp once more, but this time, she doesn't go VR. With shaking fingers, she opens the plastic bag with her Whoom. It may not be wise but it's fucking necessary.
Ignoring the fact that her system is already poisened with Deepweed and Golden Mirror, she adds two chunks of Whoom.

"Did we just kill a fucking blood mage? And a terror squad of itsy-bitsy Mexicans?", she asks, totally forgetting about our VR channel. You're not sure whether she is fully aware of what's going on. She's definitely not giving any sensible answers to Slob's other question.

"Do it." Schmitt indicated towards Slobbertooths gun.
"The last we need is her having some spirit pact that would bring her back from the brink of death.
Afterwards, I suggest, we make haste to get away from here. Their reinforcements will come and I need to warn my superiors. One of the researchers will have to act as interim security decker.
Could I ask one of you to cut lose one of the hostages, so that they can free themselves. I've got my backups - please don't take anything with you that couldn't have been arguably destroyed completely."

He smirked.
"The Fairlight is of course yours, as per our little side contract."

Slobbertooth tilted his head at Schmitt's insistence. "Aren't you the one who wanted this job to be nonlethal?"

Slowly, Krestov straightened up as the mage fell limp and presumably dying, lowering his firearm and slinging his shield over his back.  Listening to the others question and plan, the troll glanced over and saw bnc self-administering more drugs before going limp as well.  "drek...". Leaning over, the troll picked her up like some duffel bag and sling her over his shoulder, carrying her to Schmitt.

"Slob, armor is prototype and need fixing, but may work.  Bnc probably needing eat like you for weeks to fit.  If think you can recover it in time, do it.  Take Alphas and laser guns too.  Torrent, my hands tied, you handle hostages?"

"There are certain exceptions to that rule. Blood, Toxic and Insect Mages/Shamans should be shot on sight. And Aztech mercenaries don't get puppy protection either."
Schmitt reloaded his rifle and removed his helmet. "Well gentleman, our ride waits."
And with those words he moved towards the hangar.

Slobbertooth simply nodded, removed the helmet, loaded a standard pistol round into his Magnum and finished the job. "I don't think we have time for me to figure out how to get a geeked mage out of this."

"Krestov, if you wouldn't mind givin me a hand in carrying this trophy, this tusker would be real thankful."

On his way to the hostage room Torrent suprisingly caught himself sharing bnc's enthusiasm.
He had faith in his team but going up against an azzie blood mage?
That was something.

Krestov paused, the listless decker over his shoulder as he turned to Slobbertooth, giving a little nod and a smirk.  "What is one trophy between trogs, no?  Here.."  Stowing away the Alpha, he stooped down with the ork on the opposite side of the armored corpse, reaching down and scooping under one arm, picking it up to carry it out with the ork, heading towards the hangar bay.

His voice rumbling low, he turned his visored gaze to the decker.  Experience with the troll could denote his elation at their success, but it was well-restrained...they weren't done yet.  "Yes, malyutka.  We won.  Let us go home."

Slobbertooth trundled along with Krestov, loaded down in spoils of victory. "Don't go dorpher on us yet, bnc. We have a body to dump to probably have some security tags to wipe before we take our toys home. I doubt these suits are going to take care of that for us, even Mr. Johnson."

Slobbertooth looked over the doctor. "Just keep your promises on the payday, and we'll be square, doc."

Torrent had no problem to cut open the cheap plastic restraints. The freed researcher wasted no time and began to do likewise with his colleagues. Most of them were quiet and subdued - having a blood mage among you that threatens to disembowl everyone if they make any noise had that effect.

Only the engineer, Schmitt had talked to earlier, was brave or foolishly enough to ask a question: "What will happen now?"

---

Schmitt had reached the hangar, followed by his hired shadow runners. For the first time the team actually saw the submarine that had brought them together with the valkyrie pods into this facility. It looked a bit like a giant killer whale - except that whales usually don't have an open loading dock in their side. Hank was busy moving stuff from Schmitt's personal storage into the ship - most of it by remote.

Schmitt wasted no time and moved to the cockpit-like structure and sat on the co-pilot seat, busying himself with the controls.

The ork glanced at the armor and the heaps of other material the team carried: "Got yourself some souvenirs, ehh? Time to leave this sardine can in a slightly smaller one. Shame about the rest of the lot, but this ride will be cramped enough as it is. Unless of course you want to leave some of this stuff here."
