Looking at the security I decide there's no point in challenging it until I need to. I plan my course of attack if needed and then slide back into the real world. I snuggle up closer to Yelena as we wait.

     “Aright Tusk.  Finish that five.”
Tuskaloosa blinked at Chesh's command. “Uh, I'm good--”
“Your five got interrupted: plant that hoop.”
The troll winced.  Things had been tense enough earlier and the last thing she wanted was to cause more friction between high-ranking members of a gang, but she knew better than to ignore that tone in a mother's voice: no matter the metatype. “Yes Ma'am,” she muttered weakly.
Several of the gang spared her feelings by not snickering as she resumed her place.
She was just getting settled when a pair of smaller—younger?--gnomes carefully walked up bearing a litter with a mixing bowl on it.  She caught the aroma of soycaf and peered down into the bowl's murky contents as they stopped next to her.
“And that,” the boy/young man in front said smugly, “is how to make a delivery without spilling a drop.”
“Oh, seal it Fiddy-two,” the girl/ young woman snapped as the litter's legs touched the floor.  “We've still got the cups to bring out...cookies too.  A drone swarm would've finished the job by now and made it without a spill.”
Chesh frowned.  “What are you talking about San-san?  This should have been a single trip.  You two just needed to bring Kaf 'n cookies to Tuskaloosa here, an I know the cookies aren't that heavy...”
The two litter-bearers exchanged a quick look, then peered intently up at the troll's face.
“It's copacetic,” Tuskaloosa said quickly.  “I'm sure your crew wouldn't say 'no' to Kaf...you can bring the plate-”
“Then, you're not...I mean, you're....”  The girl—San...san?--glowed as she spun on her heel and tore back the way they had come.  “Haaaaaaaatter!”
“Sorry Chesh.”  Fiddy-two—Fifty-two Pick-up, the troll hazarded—was only a shade less red than his partner.  “We assumed you wanted it all for the crew, since Hatter... convinced Sangatsu that it—she,” he amended quickly, “...she was a MCT K-K, modded to look like a troll.”
“Sounds like San-san wasn't the only one who bought it,” a nearby ganger hooted.
Fifty-two's embarrassed heat rose with the crew's laughter.
“Actually,” another chimed in, “I can see that.  Kenchiku-Kikai's 're old school construction anthros, right?  Strong, slow, clumsy, a bit dim and need a babysitter.  A little hull modding to personalize...”  He threw out a thumbs up, “Sounds like something we could find under the Christmas tree this year!”
“Yeah, yeah,” Chesh hollered over the whistles and cheers.  “Back to it, ya grease stains.”  She waved a hand in the direction of the bowl, her fiber-optic tresses shifting and settling into a new pattern.  “Sorry, but the mug was the biggest we had.”
Tuskaloosa suddenly remembered the mug that she had been drinking from when the fireball went off.  It had become so many shards of broken pottery in the aftermath. “Null sheen.  It's actually not the first time,” she said as she picked up the bowl, briefly savoring the heat of its sides in her hands.  “Gives it kind of a tea ceremony feel, if that makes any sense.”
“Wit a mixin bowl?  You're next shiver'll be from some master reincarnatin', jus' so he can come back an slap you silly. Still...I do see what ya mean.  Kinda on the poser side for Kaf though.”
“I guess.  And if this was some gimmicky, sarariman-trap,” Tuskaloosa gestured to the garage's walls,  “I'd agree.  This is hospitality though, not ceremony...any drink is special that way.”  She lifted the bowl in salute and took a deep drink.
The Soykaf was a chaotic brew that tasted exactly like the multiple pots of last-in-the-dispenser doses that it was.  It was the emptying-the-pantry drink of late nights, by people who were so deep in work to even bother with a drone-drop delivery from the store.   The only thing that would have made it more nostalgic was if it had been ignored for half a day and re-heated.
“Thanks,” she said with heartfelt feeling to the delivery boy. “I haven't had something this home-y in a while.”

@ Marco  The surprise on the leaders face is evident and she looks at Marco carefully and then finally says, "Alright, we can talk. And your nova hot ass is buying fuh me an my crew. An whoevah's footin' yo bill can pay fuh summat nice." she stands back and watches you closely for signs of backing down or trying to wiggle out.

@ Yelena and Subaru  It takes half an hour, but finally Arc is led out into the lobby.

@ Tusks  Fiddy-Two beams widely and the crew relaxes around her when they hear her "Yes ma,am." to Chesh. The cookies come before she's done with the 'caf. Soon they're chattering with her as they work.

During the half hour, Arc was, as best as she could, resting up after her ordeal.  She was finally awoken to the banging of a nightstick against the jail bars.  "Summers."  Barked out the voice of the unamused duty officer as she opened her eyes, wordlessly pulling herself up to a standing position, keeping herself from wincing as she faced the source of the voice.  "Lucky break, I guess.  Your girlfriend's bleedin' heart won out and dropped.  I don't wanna hear about you in trouble again, or it's hi-sec, got it?"

Arc didn't have to answer; she knew he didn't want one.  Cracking her neck, she cast a quick glance to make eye contact with Belladonna, wordlessly voicing her thanks...to do otherwise would have been a loss of cred for both of them.  Keeping her hands at her side, she went to the door as the officer buzzed it open, staying close to her as she was escorted to the lobby.

There, she saw the forms of Yelena and Firefly, waiting for her at this hour, and her features softened.  Maybe it was for show, maybe it was how tired she was, but she let little tears form at the corners of her eyes as she darted forward upon her release, embracing the both of them tightly.  "...thank you...can we go home now?"  She uttered quietly, wanting nothing more than to get some sleep after all this night has done.

Then she remembered...no car...they likely all used bikes.  "Ah...maybe I'll get a cab?  Euh...that sounds weird coming from me..."

Yelena embraces Arc and does not really want to break it off.  "I was worried.  I overreacted.  I am so sorry.  We go home.  But Marlena take cab.  Firefly take home.  I there soon."

@Marco smiles "I'll be happy!  Dinner and drinks on me and we can schedule sometime for the coming days - I have some logistics in finding a place but I'll get back to you very soon. I will do my best to make the night memorable and I hope you will be satisfied. " Marco exchanges comlink information with the pink ladies and if they would share also their actual names or street handles, with a smile and heads on to his next meeting.

Before he is to meet Cain he enters a nearby suffer shack and enter the toilets to use his cosmetic kits - after all Cain expects him to look differently. Some cosmetics and a bit of muscle control and he looks like another keep. A new shirt, seals the deal - he now look like Sam Webster. Marco is still how far subtle face magic and mundane cosmetics can get him. He is a different man when he lives the toilet. He make some final touches in front of his mirror and then heads out to meet Cain for lunch.

Arc gave a pause, then slowly nodded.  "Ain't nothing being done now, but we work with it.  Let's get outta here"  slowly breaking away, the short human walked out of the precinct with the other two girls, departing into the night.  Once the elf had a cab, Arc hopped on the bike, wincing a little as Firefly held onto her for support.

"Ya did solid out there...and seriously, thanks for saving my life."  Arc would cut in as the pair rode through the streets to home, the autopilot doing most of the work.  "next time I try not to lead us into a drek pit of hell eh?  Eh...tomorrow is new, we rest up and figure this out..."  it was clear she had more words, but was either unsure how to express them...or smoky too fragging tired.

Once at the garage, the latter conclusion seemed likely as Arc made it as far as the living room coucj, be to remove her jacket before unceremoniously passing out draped across the cushions....

[Monday, Dec. 13th, 2075.  Morning, Arc's garage]

When Arc awoke, the pains of the previous night's events still held onto her...but at least she could move to a degree and think, which was a plus.  Groaning as some sunlight stirred the dust, the human pulled herself to a sitting position, brushing stray hair from her eyes.  She winced as she felt a few burnt hairs break off.  gotta fix that... she thought as she idly stood, pulling away her ruined shirt as she stretched her legs.  Finding a stray shirt that didn't look ruined, she decided to slip it on, adjusting the fit as she stepped outside.

huh...a most feels like spring...almost...  shivering a bit, she remained outside as her mind recalled the previous night, sorting them all out for another time of rememberjng, face serious as she took a few oaces...and nudged a small oarcel.  "what the..."  looking down she saw a small box no bigger than a common against her foot, with an AR note...

<<Hoi Cricket,
Here's what I couldn't get from your list.  Hope it keeps you outta trouble.  Stay safe.
~Uncle>>

Smiling softly the human flipped the box, knowing full well the contents: one multidimensional coprocessor, designed to fit a deck.  "well wiz"  package in hand, Arc returned inside, shutting the door as she sought out her friends and current saviors...making sure to place the box next to Firefly wherever she was.

"think I got some soymeal...and maybe a few cinnamon flavpacks...maybe that would do in a pinch, hmmm..."

Yelena makes it to garage shortly after the other two after having to walk the last few blocks that the cab would not go.  She enters the garage to find Arc laid out on the couch, sound asleep and no sign of Firefly.  She walks into the bedroom and finds the girl sitting on the bed and staring off into space.  Yelena removes her jacket and places it across a chair before sitting down and folding Firefly into a hug.  "Decker mage want talk?  Yelena listen anything.  Firefly just say what want.  Yelena answer if decker mage ask."

Jed wakes and stretches.  He and Snowden carry out their increasing normal morning routine.  He needs to find a way to get Snowden a new mentor, to fill the void.  As he doesn't have one of his own, he isn't quite sure how to start.  Although he is well versed in the theory, finding a mentor is very personal, and different for mages of various traditions.  I'll have to give that some thought.

As they arrived at the botanical garden for Snowden's daily "therapy", Jed takes the time to message Yelena, Arc, and Marco.  Been busy a couple of days, hope you guys are ok.  I have an interesting tidbit of info.  Since our drug is part chemical and part mana, I've come to the realization that the mana part of it can be neutralized by counter mana.  Do we have a sample I can test on?  My bodyguard job is going well, and I may have some times that I can slip away.  Not sure what you've all been up to the last several days.

Marco thinks "Jed - off course ! he is knowledgeable and has a magical creature as a friend. " He texts Back >>Jed it is good to hear from you. I am a bit embarrassed about conjuring, my spirits seem to behave in the most outrageous manner. Can you please talk to me, I am a bit lost and don't know what to do.  I think we had samples of the party pooper- but I am not sure if we still have them or if Blake has them. You'll have to ask Arc."

@ Gilga for Jed  Jed replies to Gilga's call. >>Spirits can be very tricky as there are so many things about a mages psyche that they respond to. It's why so few mages are really summoners. It's dangerous and you have to be either really emotionally stable, or really crazy. I'll be happy to talk about it and help you if I can.<<

@ Yelena for Subaru  Subaru tells Yelena everything. At first she was on the verge of tears. Her relief at finally being in a new home and having friends crashing down on her after all the events of the evening. But, just ordering and detailing the information was a huge help in calming and steadying herself. After-all, she didn't want to cry in front of Yelena-sensei, she'd be sure the she wasn't strong enough to avenge her parents.

@ Subaru  You get a call from Lexi, >>Rabbits run fast.<<

@Marco replies
>>Well I am a little of both I could intuitively summon from a very young age and I owe spirits the person that I grew up to be, but problems started when I recieved formal education about magic - the Catholic mysticism version that is. My spirits begun to appear more and more like these creatures from the old books, like Daemons.  At first it was just their external shape and I disregarded it as nothing of importance, prejudice and nothing more.  Recently, I grew to believe that their behavior is dramatically changing as well and is drifting toward dark and unpredictable. Oddly enough, It seem to get worse as I gain confidence in my abilities and Spirits now usually taunt and mock me when I summon them.

Let's meet the day after tomorrow if you are free, I plan to take a deep dive into conjuring and learn how to bind minor spirits for longer periods of time as it will allow me to examine my connection to them and evaluate how my emotional state and other factors affect it. Perhaps I can learn to manipulate this connection consciously after enough practice, I had great success in manipulating my own emotional state before. I also plan to reduce my dependence of spirits - by constructing watchers. I do not know if you are familiar with this technique.

I am now waiting for the meeting with Cain. (from the post before I texted back to Jed).

As she is deliberating the food options, Arc almost jumped when the message from Jed.  Seeing as she could not find the other two girls at the moment, she pulled the message up to read it, eyes widening at the info.  "Uh-huh..."  hopping up to sit on the counter, she started working on a reply.

<<@Jed: Arc here.  That is some pretty wiz infonthere, omae.  I'd get ya a sample, but I planted all that stuff to our contact as soon as I could.  Didn't wanna get pinned holding that drek, you feel me?  Sorry about that.  We alive, barely, but looking like we did just about enough to shut this drek down.  There is a drek ton to go over, and aside from an appt I have at 13:00 I'm free.  You good to meet up?>>

<<@Blake:  Checking in omae.  Not dead, and looks like the dogs are chasing tails at the moment.  Status good?>>

<<@Tuskaloosa: Hoi, Arc here.  Got that chip with the Jing you pulled last night.  Wanna come by to take a peek at it?>>

Sending that and the check in text with Blake, Arc hopped ff the counter to work on making some soy meal...ooh, brown sugar flavpacks, those would work well too...
