"Well if we can see them they can see us, Isaint speaks Latin, we have some spirits on our side and I can use a stunbolt even in the astral so i am not completely defenseless. Let's try to talk to them see who they are and what they want.
At the same time the rest can get as much distance from the family and them and if we need to run, my spirit can make Isaint and me faster and we can catch up. If Isaint does not want to talk then lets go to the catacomb - I am not sure it is easy to hide in the astral, and if they want to engage us i am sure we will be fighting alright.

To the frenchman - or we can go someplace more mundane - I totally miss my deck. "

"Good thinking Al and Frenchman. Movement now, puzzle solving later. Although I wouldn't be surprised if those ghosts are here to stay or at least in an infinite loop."
Solo, I'm sorry, but my Latin is definitely not good enough to talk our way out of a confrontation - and neither is my English it seems. I can learn almost any language in a few hours, but it's all very basic. Sorry to be a spoil sport, but this is to risky by far with the family in the middle of it.
Also, if we are getting the tour, we can at least take the whole thing."

Isaint waited for their guide to take them towards the catacombs, ready to follow.

"Some other time no worries" Said Solo and took some last curious look at the roman army approaching them. "Lets get going and see if they let us leave."

[Thursday June 18th, 2076, ~04:24, Widow’s Way, London Below, London]

It’s almost anti-climactic to be so singularly ignored…as the group scramble for the exit into the potentially deadlier Catacombs the first of the Roman soldiers pass… it seems they may well be in some sort of loop, for the finest fighting force for many centuries they would not allow a small group of potential foes to pass without a challenge…

The Frenchman ushered the Doc, not far from ISaint towards where Goodnight was pointing. One thing was sure he didn't want to stay in the Astral Shallow any longer than necessary. He wondered for a second if he should have just stayed out and confront the Suit guy. Well, he knew it wasn't a bright idea, but neither was visiting the Catacombs in London's early hours.
Solo, is that woman still in you, you surely speak as much as one now!
Well, not all of them. Mel, as elegant as she was still, had remained very quiet since yesterday.

He looked back to see the Legion pass by them. By the look of it they had no choice but to enter the Catacombs now.

Al shrugged. Legion of ghost monks. Catacombs filled with undead horrors. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

He kept the woman moving forward, Spike in front, himself behind.

Here at lest was a place where Nitro was outshone, all his technological extravagance now black and dead, this same black deadness shredding and dimming his aura. In here, it is easy for all to see the price Nitro has paid for his prowess, how much of his humanity has been stripped away and replaced with steel, circuits and wires. it is also clear that he is struggling to process what is going on, years spent processing digital vision and sound, be if from the sensors of vehicles and drones or his cybernetic eyes and ears overturned, his normal enhancements non-functional as he perceives in a completely alien way. His agitation and confusion clear to see for anyone who knows how to read an aura as what is left of his human aura spins and whirls chaotically.

Solo answers the Frenchman: "Nope... I miss her already, she returned to the metaplanes at sun dawn. "  It was indeed some field trip trip from hell, like that one history lesson where Solo fell a sleep in and had some terrible nightmares.

Isaint looked back at Nitro - seeing his mutilated aura with all the foreign augmentations explained a lot about his somewhat erratic behavior: "Don't worry Nitro, I'm positive that this shallow isn't that big. It's probably just a crossing of two ley lines or something."
The little excursion did have a positive aspect: Observing his teams aura's he was reassured that none of them were head cases. True, he had seen only one before with astral sight and it was somewhat hard to detect, but so far he hadn't seen anything like it.

As Goodnight begins to lead them down a small side passage, more a crack in the walls than a true egress, she comments, "Perhaps surprisingly, Isaint is more than likely exactly correct. London is a crossing for several great leys, the largest of which the lines starting at Giant's Causeway and the one crossing through Stonehenge, as well as a dozen smaller but still potent ones, veins to the great leys' arteries." Her voice is more level than the team has heard it so far, and if the hunch of her shoulders is tight and her movements overcontrolled, that could easily be put down to their circumstances rather than purely an emotional state.

However, with the astral shallow laying bare everyone's auras, she is surprisingly easy to read. Her deeper emotions are a mixture of fear, irritation, and sadness, with no one winning over the other two. Several things appear to be bothering her, but while her aura is a riotous chaotic mass of color, it is within sharply defined limits. Whatever she is feeling, she is controlling it, at least for the moment. Above those emotions lie her more temporal ones, concern directed at the girl beside her, apprehension at what lies ahead, and a bone deep longing for something beyond it.

Behind her emotions blazes her power, almost eyesearing in its intensity. No mere street mage is Goodnight. It is raw, inchoate, only barely defined, but it is intense, the sort of magic that takes a prodigious natural gift coupled with long or intensely brutal tutoring. The ring of light around her throat blazes with the broad power of a focus built to enhance everything, weapon, armor, and tools all at once rather than the sharply defined construct of a blade or a spell focus.

Finally, for the particularly observant, there are...patches, in her aura, wounds that have filled up and scarred over but nonetheless leave telltale marks for those that can read them. Some are nearly gone, older hurts long since healed while others are still vivid and raw.

Goodnight, of course, pays no attention to her own aura, nor does she look back to read the others'. She has a job to do, and if its the catacombs, then she needs to be chill. Null sheen, Radical Edward would say. She leads them down into the catacombs, and as she walks she consults what rumors, tales, and fragmented bits of map lore she can remember about the place, trying to assess the fastest way out that would dump them further into Widow's Way.

To those skilled in the art Solo's aura is bright orange.  Reds of passion constantly play with yellows of curiosity. Other emotions are there by they a lot less frequent. Despite what he say, his aura he clearly feels at home in the astral.  There is no question that he is awakened, as mana seems to ‘dance’ when it approaches his aura. The general shape of the aura is a bit odd for a meta human and resembles that of a spirit as pale lines of mana that seem to connect Solo’s aura to one of the meta planes. There are no active spells on his aura tough his power focus is clearly visible as a small kitten tattoo on his right butt cheek - Solo is clearly, not a man of traditions and does not take his magic too seriously.

[Thursday June 18th, 2076, ~04:26, Widow’s Way & the Catacombs, London Below, London]

As the group stumble out of the shallow the fog rises relentlessly around them, as if trying to bar their passage.  The mournful sound of the owl cry covers the scuff of their feet and the harshness of their breathing…

The transition out of the shallow is sudden as the group wend their way down through the fault in the basalt.  There is an almost imperceptible feeling of loss at leaving the glory of the astral behind, even for those accustomed to it and those who fear and loathe it…

And then a headcount reveals that two of your number appear to be missing, from out of the centre of the group, somehow Smiley and Hallucination haven’t followed you through although nobody recalls seeing them veer off the path or call out in any way.  Below has taken its first toll it would seem…

"Son of a damned bitch," Al swore.

He was delighted to have taken his KrazySpecs off, but deeply dismayed at the loss of two of their number

His eyes soaked up every ounce of light from hippy-witch's mod outfit, and a quick look around showed all four of their charges were still with them.

So leave your co-workers to do your duty? Or duty to your companions?

But the words of his mother's reading from the Good Book rang clear - you leave the ninety-nine and go after the one.

"Keep goin', y'all. Spike'll find 'em."

No Hallucination, and no Simile ?
Solo is looking around with disbelief. It was unfair... he wanted to spend some time studying roman legionaries, but they decided to go play with the infected instead.  "Have anyone seen Hallucination and Smile ? I think they were right next to William... William? William!" Solo cries hard and for a second he fear the worst, but the little boy is quickly found, right next to Frenchman and Rachel. "That's very odd indeed... let's go back and find them!"

"Al! wait we should all come back or at least send some spirits to find them."

The wisdom of Solo's idea was immediately apparent.

Al hated relying on those...things. But if anywhere was the place to do it, it was back in that shallow-whatever-it-was. That was their turf.

it would be the best thing for their companions and the best thing for the family.

"Like the way you think, amigo. Let's send a couple, then." He paused. He thought. "How do we do that?"
