Aaron stirred at the smell of food. His typical face-down, eyes-half-open method of surveying the situation was no longer sufficient as he suddenly realized how hungry he was. He pushes his way to his feet, surprisingly gracefully for a man of such bulk and so little sleep, and made his way over to whatever smelled like it wanted to be eaten. He tried not to wake others with this heavy footfall, but it was difficult to focus on anything that wasn't calories.
"I never thought I'd be so happy to see soy." he says as he rubs his neck with one thick hand and uses the other to clear the sleep from his eyes. "What do we got? I could eat Al's dog right now."

To ISaint "I wish I knew how to give people feet fetishes... would have made my love life a lot easier" He laugh. Then he say half to himself half to ISaint because from his experiences most people couldn't care less about magic. "Actually... the more I understand how magic works the more minimalist my ceremony is. I do not move a single muscle to cast a spell... the entire fuss about my ritual magic is because for some odd reason I tried to block my access to these capabilities.  The stress of this run must have somehow opened some associative memories that bypass my mental block. These are completely unrelated  to the task. Somewhere within all these dancing there is powerful ritual magic, but I do not know exactly what is dancing and singing and what is actual magic. "

To Vicki he say: "These are really good news." Solo say and nod his head.  "You did good Vick...   You are young and powerful and the world is your playing ground... but can this power let you grow old? how likely are you to reach twenty? how about forty?  Things look different with different perspectives. My 16 years old self would not take my advice at 60. Tha 16 years old self would think that I am a stupid adult that understands nothing.
You said that you can feel tastes right? do you have a sense of smell?"

Shortly after Solo leaves for his bike. He takes from the trunk a bottle of wine and a couple of sandwiches, and few armored crystal glasses. These seems as thin and delicate as crystal glasses but are actually almost impossible to brake. "My girlfriend made these for me, I felt it was rude to be the only one that eats around here but I am starving. Guys, feel free to share my wine... it is a famous Italian brand from Tuscany, 20 years old." He starts pouring the wine to glasses.  When he reach Vick he offer her some and ask.. "Try, If you can still enjoy it..."
After a toss he say. "We will be leaving soon, but we better eat and take meds and anything that Vick suggest before that,." To Vick "I'd be happier to continue with your sister. She cannot afford to go AWOL in the middle of a run... we won't say anything but fixers know a lot more than they are willing to admit. Call it perspective, but I think that we should continue to our next destination with Goodnight."

Al sighed with inward exasperation when he saw the new round of weapons distribution to the clueless family members. But he held his tongue. There'd been way too many arguments tearing this group apart already, and with a few things he absolutely wanted to keep some control of, he'd have to pick his battles.

He distracted himself by looking at the vampire girl's legs.

Yeah, he was a baaaaaad grandpa.

Isaint shrugged at Solo's words: "Bah, we live and learn. Give it time and it will probably come back."

Isaint did not miss Al's disapproving looks. He walked over, sat down beside him and offered him some of the Greek food. In a low voice he said: "Don't worry. The girl got the models with safe aiming. As long as you keep the RFID chip I'll give you they can't hurt anyone of us."

Al managed to eat the food Isaint offered without removing the cigarette from his mouth, and he managed to somehow answer the ork with his mouth full. "Well, that's some comfort, an' a good precaution ta be sure." He pocketed the chip. "Crazy time comes, though, you'll excuse ol' Al if he puts his trust in good sense an' the voodoo gods rather'n some high-tech bells an' whistles."

He shrugged. "What's done is done, an' I do trust yer judgment, sir."

Then he threw a smile over at Jackhammer. "That dog done got big as he is eatin' garbage, an' other critters what ate worse than garbage. Bitin' into him, purty much same as eatin' a damned devil rat."

Nitro gives a faint wry smile as he takes a seat, shaking his head. "Go' a few too ma'y dru's runnin aroun' me sys'em te be drin'in' righ' now. Than's fertha offe' 'ough." As he mentions the drugs a hand idly points up to the side of his head, although the cyberears are of a similar design to his old ones the higher quality is obvious to anyone who knows what to look for.

He frowns slightly, organizing his thoughts before he speaks again, his eyes looking over the disassembled pistol and sword before they finally look up at Goodnight again.

"Imma lay thin's ou', affer tha'... well ye do wa' ye go'a do. Tha nigh' inna el-cee-zee, was onna my firs' runs. Issalso jussabou' tha wors' run I e'er done. Ne'er 'are or since 'ave I los' so ma'y crew, as 'ell as failin' tha run isself. Ye sai' sommin' abou' a chip? Idunno an'in' abou' tha, all I kno' is summon hire' us te bring ye ou'a the el-cee-zee alive." he pauses, raking a hand through his hair, for once, it isn't lit up, the fiber optics dull and transparent. "I dunno who wanne' ye or why. Tru' is, I ain' ne'er as'ed, I ain' ne'er loo'ed. An' I ain' e'er loo'ed te se if ye survi'ed tha nigh' ei'er."

He leans back, about as relaxed as you've seen him. "Now, I ta'e one loo' a' ye an' I know ye're dan'erous, we bo' are. An' we bo' know tha e'erythin' hassa price... righ' now, Imma thin'in' tha' I owe a price wi' se'en years o' in'rest. The only ques'ion is, wassa paymen' gonna be?"

Goodnight's Doss

Goodnight leans back on the couch, examining the Spinrad augmentations Nitro is now sporting with the eye of a practiced professional. As a joygirl, she saw a lot of augs on the Vory shestrioka when they came through, and a lot more on other clients, and she knows enough to see that the new tech is a definite upgrade. As Nitro talks, Goodnight listens, and her face is impassive. She understands, she really does, and while she wants to hate him, that would be stupid and counterproductive. There's no point.

Goodnight gives him a moment when he winds down, her hands automatically putting the pistol back together without her even having to look at it. She loads it with ExEx and lays it aside, next to the thin cylinder of her monowhip and the long, sinister sheathed blade, and leans back once more. She folds her legs under herself and stares at Nitro, and after a few seconds says, "There's no price. Why would there be? You were hired to get the chip. I was just baggage, it was just biz." She shakes her head. "I won't lie. I wanted to kill you in the tunnels. If I'd gotten my hands on you, I probably would have, so thank Vicki when you see her next. But..." she shrugs her shoulders and gives a helpless little laugh. "Its not because you left me. Yes, I was a kid, but it was Lambeth. Worse happens all the time. No, it was because you made me remember being left. I was so scared..."

Goodnight sniffs and closes her eyes, fighting back tears. "If you really want to see what happened to me, I can show you the holo of the day I was brought out. But I won't press it on you." She says finally, her voice quavering. "I spent years getting over what happened to me. I know the team thinks I'm unstable, and they may be right, but that's because the alternative is turning back into Macha, the Laesa's tame killer. If I wear my heart on my sleeve, then I don't risk falling back into that...that coldness." She shudders delicately, then fixes Nitro with a Fuschia stare. "All I want from you is for you to trust that I'm not going to fly off the handle. If push comes to shove, I'll stay solid. I can't get Isaint or Al or the twit with MPD off my back, but you've seen me at home now, where I'm not a raging psychotic. Yes, I attacked you, and while it might have been justified I know it was also wrong. Yes, I hit Isaint, but I didn't hurt him and it ended the conversation, didn't it?" Her lips quirk in a smile. "Expediency wins sometimes. I'm not going to let The Doctor or his progeny come to any harm, Nitro."

Nacht

Vicki sees Al staring out of the corner of her eye, and there's the devastating dimpled smile again as she casually crosses one leg over the other, staring at Solo. In a pleasant tone, she explains, "Fee didn't go AWOL. She suffered a psychotic episode due to prior physical and mental trauma, stemming from events that Nitro was present for and in which he played a major part. She can hardly be blamed for her reaction." Her smile turns cold. "And if you think that you would have done better after being a joygirl slave to a bunch of mobsters for your teenage years, then I know a good shrink where you can get your head examined."

She declines the offered glass. "Without the alcohol it just tastes like sour juice to me. Yes, I can taste. I can probably smell better than you can." She glances over and adds, "I can probably actually smell better than the dog can." She shrugs. "My mutations are subtler than my sister's but no less present." Her eyes flick back to Solo. "I'm not sixteen either, so you can drop the talking-to-children bit and treat me like an adult, please. Just because I won't go apeshit like my sister doesn't mean I like being talked down to any more than she does." She stands. "I'm probably more likely live another twenty years than you are. Yes, I have dietary requirements and certain groups are opposed to my existence, but that could be said of any of you as well, and my condition comes with certain gifts."

Turning to Isaint and Al, Victoria says, "I know we're in a hurry, but at this point I'm not sure a few hours would make much difference. Long Haul can keep them awake, but they're emotionally frayed and mentally exhausted. Let them finish eating and get a little sleep. That will give time for Draco to get back to me and for Goodnight to finish making preparations. You need her back anyway if you plan on getting anywhere down here, and she's currently also got Nitro. Besides, if we wait I can make sure the family has at least basic armor to go with those tasers."

Nitro nods at the comment, even though his eyes watch the pistol reassembly without blinking. He frowns slightly "Ye kee' men'ionin' a chip.. I kinna 'osne'ly say I dunno an'yin' abou' tha... it seeme' li'e ye thay was affer, an they weren' from tha el-zee-cee..." He spends a short time looking Goodnight over, there's nothing lecherous about it, more analyzing. "Ye kno' a nor'al elf are ye? I 'unno, jus' they seame' aweful anxious te ge' ye ba' in one pie'e. Tha mea's onna two thin's... i' was sommone tha care' abou' ye... or sommone tha' wanne' te stu'y ye."

He shakes his head with a sigh "Bu' tha's se'en years o wa'er unner tha bri'ge... a 'rail lon', lon' col'. As fer now, I kinna 'lame ye, hi' me li'e a truc' a' mo'erway speeds a'well. I'e spen' a lon', lon' ti'e tryin' te forge' tha nigh'. Assfer wha' ye do'e inna pas' an who ye 'ere... well li'e I sai', ever'in' hassa price."

He sits thinking for a moment then leans forward, a hand extended. "Now 'en, howsabou we ma'e sure we donna win' up lea'in' summone else inna same boa' eh?"

"I wouldn't want them needlessly to take drugs - even relatively harmless ones like Longhaul. The children have been through enough - no need to settle them with an addiction after all that stress. And you are right: It's always better to have a second offer on hand in negotiations. A few more hours here probably won't hurt.
Good work."

Isaint walked over to the small table and began to methodically clean his weapons. First came the rifle, than the two re-obtained tasers. Lastly he disassembled his Savalette Guardian and made sure it was in top working condition.

Yes, I have dietary requirements and certain groups are opposed to my existence, but that could be said of any of you as well, and my condition comes with certain gifts."

"Well Vicki, you are old enough to know that this world is not just, nor is it fair. It is not that I am completely sane either. I do not blame her for jumping Nitro nor for the part with ISaint, you do not need to defend her not from me. I lived to do worse in my life, I've been in dark places and I am not in a position to judge anyone. When I tell you that certain behaviors find very harsh consequences in our shadowy world, I am speaking from my own experience.

My path was not exactly easy... when I was born I was not even considered metahuman. I had no legal status and could not get a SIN.  I was nothing more than a number, abused and experimented upon for the 'common good' and the 'security of the nation' "

You can feel the scorn in Solo's face when he say these words. He sighed.

"They were so secret about it It took me many years to even figure out who did these atrocities to me. The same people had 'rescued' me. Gained my trust and I was working for them for many years not knowing the truth.  Can you imagine the horror when I found out what really happened? "

Solo look distanced for a little while, he feels nothing about these events. So many killings later made him look at himself as the villain of his own story. Killing himself was probably the right choice when he found out. The pain and suffering he inflicted in his psychotic outrage cannot possibly be justified. "Maybe some time I will kill myself... and my soul can get some rest" He thinks.
After a short while, he continues, softly without any shred of anger or judgement in his voice. If any he speaks from pain, personal pain.
Certain behaviors have consequences - and our world is not tolerant or forgiving for them, especially in the shadows. You and your sisters may think you are powerful, but actually you just work for powerful people. I am no different - none of us is.

The first years are the most difficult...  Being seen as a Banshee , that as you well aware is not even considered human by law - by powerful cooperate suits is not exactly my choice of valor - but I will not stop you. You are old enough to make your own mistakes. It is also better for Fee not to drop mid run -even if you cover for her.  No matter how justifiable the reasons are, it *will* look as if she went awol... and it will hurt her employ-ability. "

He sigh, and his serious face are now decorated with a soft smile.
"But enough about that... I am not the person to give carrier advises or to tell other people what to do and what not to do. Lets just share a glass of wine... if your senses are really as developed as you claim, you will enjoy it more then me... " He smiles pours her a glass of wine.  "Cheers!" He say as he begins exploring his wine, smelling and then tasting it. Solo seems completely focused on every tiny bit of flavor and for a moment he forgets the awful surrounding and the violence of these recent days. He is in his peaceful place now.

Al sighed inwardly in relief as Isaint turned down the drugs on behalf of the family. What were some of these degenerates thinking, he wondered as he sucked on his cigarette.

He was less thrilled with the idea that waiting a few hours here was no big deal. People were greatly overestimating the momentary security they enjoyed simply by being here in Underdark Kingdom of Crazy.

But inertia was a bitch. The family, scarfing down food, were still groggy and would indeed probably crave sleep again once they'd chowed. The parents he might be able to keep moving, but the four of them as a group? And while a matrix meet with eTher might be something doable in fifteen minutes, they couldn't do jack without their psychotically combative and unpredictable guide to move them topside.

He sighed and resigned himself to their glacial pace and incessant diversions.

He tried congratulating himself about being so flexible, but had to admit it was more just a matter of being dead tired.

Tossing a few chunks of meat to Spike, he settled in and, with the patience of a hunter, waited for the vampire girl to shift her legs again.

As the group settle in to wait for the family to recover and Goodnight and Nitro to return Solo’s watcher from the lobby sends a silent message

~master/mistress, there is an astral projection here, he says he wishes to speak with you…~

Solo stands up, and say: "There is someone in the astral looking to visit me or maybe all of us... I am going to figure it out. Watch me with the drones and protect me if needed." Solo goes to the lobby still holding his glass of wine. "Here we are, who are we speaking to?".

Al stands up. He figures he ought to go for urgent but not alarmed with his voice, but alas he is really only capable of gravel on slate.

"Okey dokey, folks, jist in case this ain't as peaceful as it sounds, ever'one look alive." He knows his co-workers need no such injunction; it is the Pelletieres he is really speaking to. "Shoes on, grab whatever stuff ya got, be ready to move right now if need be."

He texts Nitro: <<Hopefully not code red, but we got some kinda unannounced visitor here. Will keep you posted. When you coming back?>>

Isaint grabbed his mask and said: "I'll accompany you." With a moment concentration Isaint activated his focus to perceive the Astral and went after Solo
