Ok to make sure I am casting right...say I cast improved reflexes at force 6. I get two hits. The drain code is force but that's the limit right? It's my hits according to the magic section on drain. So that would be 2. Am I doing this right?

THe force for drain acts as the amount of damage in Stun you are resisting. So in this case 6S

The Drain code os F for Force.  Not H for Hits.

So it equals Force  or Force-3 or whatever.

I got 7 but can only use 5.

How do mages not go unconscious from the drain? If your average mage has less than twelve in his pool to resist drain that is 3 or less on average which force three is pretty useless...I am amused I've been doing it wrong for a long time.

You generally are careful with what spells you cast is all. You'll not that directed spells have a harder difficulty for drain resistance this Undirected spells. This only makes sense since the target only get either body or willpower to resist the spell where as with undirected spells they still get a defense test and maybe armor to the soak roll.

And edging helps

Anyone who tries to move me will see that I am attached by a cord to the main-junction that runs from the workstations to the wall. i can't be moved (vary far) and still do my job.

I knew I should have tried harder to acquire explosives.

You could always empty out all your bullets and make that into a some kind of short lived explosive.
