The term is "right of first refusal". I'll say that Ohanzee knows that due to his Negotiation skill.

[location] would be Ogallala Peak, if you wish to fill it in.

Everything else looks good.

Ogallala Peak is where we are putting the Quicksilver Photo?

Malevolence listed two [location]s. The first was where the obelisk was found. That's Oglalla Peak. The second is the dead drop site in the park. The second [location] will presumably be the Sand Creek park / greenbelt.

Mal, if you're ready, let's get Ohanzee's IC post up. If rednblack is gone and Poindexter is taking some personal time then I wouldn't mind taking the opportunity to have Ohanzee and Doc make some progress on the delivery, meet, and negotiations.

IC up. I don't think I need to make any rolls for Torchbearer's summoning as I only need one service and have plenty of time to rest off any stun damage. If you think it is needed, I can make the rolls.

Basically, Ohanzee will likely stick to the "ground" even if Torchbearer is in the air so that he can maintain some level of stealth. Again, let me know if you want a roll for that, but I figure this is mostly role playing and not roll playing for this part so it's mostly assumed that he makes it safely and without incident, or not, depending on the strength of our plan.

I'm assuming that once the photo is in place and the burner where we want it, Doc will send the message and work his magic to monitor for a reply. I basically made up a deadline so I might need to change it - I've lost track of the date, so I just wen't with "tomorrow", but it should probably have an actual date. This should give her two full days (as in "work days", not 48 hours) to reply.

For reference, TB is Force 6 with the Movement and Innate Spell: Fireball optional powers.

@Malevolence
Go ahead and roll so we can count services. Odds are good that Torchbearer will be compliant, but if he gets a strong resist then he might be more bull-headed about things. I also want to see if he gets a second service so that he can use Concealment. Technically the delivery is one task (a physical task) and Movement could be used to supplement that without another service, but Concealment wound require an additional service.

Katsina is intending to cast and quicken Combat Sense on Ohanzee, Chino, and Doc unless they have any objections.
Pros: Combat Sense!
Cons: The quickened spell will be obvious on the astral. This isn't much of a downside to Ohanzee, since he already has spells quickened, or Chino, since he has qi foci, but I wanted to give Doc the chance to refuse if he wanted to.

Per an earlier ruling, the quickened spells would need to buy hits. Poor Katsina can only scrape together 15 dice so the the spells would all take effect with 3 hits each. Oh, for a sixth point of alchemy.

Casting @ F3 equals 3 points of drain with the Contact trigger adding 1 point for a total of 4.

Soaking 4 drain three times: Willpower 6 + Intuition 6: 3#12d6t5 4 hits 1 hits 5 hits

Kat takes 3S off the second casting. Technically she would lose a die off the third casting but in this case that doesn't affect the end product.

Sam will also get a spell quickened on him if he behaves when he wakes up (and if he agrees to it).

Summon Torchbearer (F6, w/Centering) [Magic 6 + Summoning 6 + Focus 2]: 14d6t5 3
Summoning Resist [Force 6]: 6d6t5 2
Resist Drain [WIL 6 + CHA 6 + Centering 2]: 14d6t5 5

So one service, no drain taken. On paper, Ohanzee summoned a force 5 that showed up and resisted as a force 6. Instead of saying he anticipated the spirit boost and attempted to summon a force 5 in order to get a force 6, I'm going to say that because he summoned TB specifically, that is what he got. Which means next time he summons a random spirit, he'll be surprised to find it show up more powerful than he intended.

Doc might not actualy want that... But gimme a little bit to think about it.  (Would the nanites worry that would possibly expose them?)
I'll get an IC up this afternoon or evening covering working with Ohanzee on the message and getting ready to go to town.  Is anything else waiting on me?

The nanites, if they have sense of what magic is and/or is capable of, would be 1000% in support of anything that improves Doc's survivability, such as a spell that warns him of danger.

It looks like I managed to refer to Torchbearer as Torch Bearer and Torch Runner (and also Torchbearer) during Chapter III, sometimes in the same post. I'll try to be more consistent.

@Zweiblumen, go ahead and outline any security precautions Doc plans to take. He can still lobby for using a sim module if Doc wants to have the meet in the Matrix. Chino's commlink has one, which Ohanzee could presumably borrow.

Mysterious GM Rolling: 10#10d6t5 5 hits 2 hits 2 hits (almost a glitch) 6 hits 4 hits 6 hits 2 hits 0 hits 3 hits 6 hits

Torchbearer said "good luck and get well soon" in Sioux.

I'm back.  Things are looking good.

Was there some talk of sending Chino into town alone?  I thought I saw something like that when I was gone, but now I can't seem to find it.  A lack of coffee may be to blame.  If that's the case, Ace would strongly think that Chino should not travel to Rifle alone.  Too much opportunity for him to get into trouble without proper supervision.  Ace will gladly go either in addition to Chino or in his stead.

Looks like we need a shopping list.

@Rednblack, welcome back. There wasn't talk of sending Chino into town alone. I had mentioned the possibility of sending Chino into town without Ace (while you were out) but we didn't get that far.

Shopping list would be good. We can work on that in the OOC while things progress ICly. Current nuyen count is ¥3,865.

Ohanzee wakes up from his astral venture, nothing obvious having gone awry.

Katsina will stay behind and likely Sam too, as he is a flesh-eating monster now. Ohanzee and Doc are required members of the away team; Chino recommended (to stay away from Sam), and Ace optional (or he could stay behind with Katsina).

What we now need is an IC post initiating the trip into town. This could come from basically anyone.

Ohanzee can answer questions, etc, as he hops in and out of Astral Projection, but my vision was that the trip to town would occur concurrent with the spirit's journey to town, with it likely concluding at some point while the away team is in town.

redandblack should probably initiate the trip since he has to decide whether Ace and/or Chino will go.

I was under the impression that Ohanzee would be accompanying the away team so that he could be present for the DIMR response. Doc could use the satellite uplink so that Ohanzee could take the call from the campsite, but that introduces the possibility of being tracked back to your location before you are ready for visitors.

Ohanzee being present to take the call would require the away team to stay in town the whole day (or at least until the 1700 cut-off time, if Ohanzee switched the due date to today instead of tomorrow), but there's no specific problem in doing so. In fact, they might like being in a warm soykaf shop rather more than an icy campsite.

Mal, if you had a different idea for how the team would take the call and conduct negotiations, let us know.

Ohanzee is camped out in the van. Unless they are taking some other transportation to town, he will be going with them. He's just not going to be mentally present for the first part of the trip.

He will suggest that Doc tweak the time as Katsina recommends before transmission.
