I'm not sure I followed Zweiblumen's equations very well, but it sounds like he's happy so I'll leave it there.

Katsina doesn't have the karma budgeted to quicken Increase Reflexes on Doc, so that will fall to Ohanzee (unless someone declines the Combat Sense quickening).

I got Katsina's drain wrong: since Increase Reflexes is a Health spell, it requires the Command trigger. Drain is +2 instead of +1, so she's at 6S instead of 5S.

Increase reflexes for Doc. Ohanzee has 13 dice for casting (6 Magic + 5 Spellcasting + 2 Power Focus) for +3 and +1d6 from buying hits. My previous estimate was based on rolling, but I forgot we were buying hits for quickening. It's up to Doc whether he casts it at Force 6 (better resistance to being dispelled) or Force 3 (less bright on the astral).


Resist Drain [WIL 6 + CHA 6 + Centering 2]: 14d6t5 6 [5, 3, 1, 2, 6, 4, 3, 5, 2, 5, 4, 4, 5, 5]
Should cover the drain regardless.

Sam has been quiet and full of study. I've been at a loss as to what to post for him. I'm really sorry, but I've just been drawing a blank with what to do with him right now.
I've been trying to break down what his motivations as a character are exactly, and I've only been able to come up with a few.

1- Get ahold a some sentient food. (Aside from attacking or abandoning the group, there's nothing he can do about this at the moment.)
2- Learn who he was. (No matter what he does at this point, he doesn't feel like any actions he takes will shed any more light on the subject. Between the nanites and the obelisk and the infection, he fears he may never know)
3- Get rid of the obelisk in a responsible manner. (He's not even concerned with money at his point. If the rest of the group agreed to just avalanche it and leave it here in the mountains, he'd go along with it.)
4- Start a new life. (He's not even going to be able to start doing that, or even learn exactly what he's become until he can get rid of this damn obelisk.)

I can't come up with any other objectives for him and I can't think of any actions he could take that would advance any of the ones listed above. I really hate the idea of slowing the group down, or even contributing to a loss of momentum, so I guess I'm asking if anyone has any advice.

I just hit Zweiblumen with a wall of text regarding Cannon. He can either copy-and-paste it or reshape it and make it his own.

@Poindexter, we need a Body x 2 test (20 dice) to see how much of Sam's Physical damage is healed. He is currently at 6P from his attempt to dispell Katsina's Mana Bind.

Poindexter, I think the motivations you've outlined for Sam are great and very realistic given the circumstances. To me they seem to be plenty of fodder for RP. For example, Sam could speak up and indicate his preference for safety and a new beginning rather than the maximum possible payout for the obelisk. He could vote to accept a lower bid, especially if it gets rid of the obelisk in a responsible manner (#3) and the transaction can be completed quickly, allowing him to get a start on his new life (#4).

#1 needs to be addressed ICly but is very valid.

As for #2, I've been sprinkling some hints throughout. There's a hint in the first IC post of Chapter IV that could be investigated. But, on that note, one of the core questions of Tabula Rasa is does knowing who you were before change who you are now, or who you want to be? Do we want to know who we were simply out of curiosity (which is reasonable) or is that understanding an intrinsic component of our identity, without which it is difficult to function? That seems like another good source of RP there, even if (or especially if) Sam can't figure out the answer.

That's right, one year ago today Ryo posted the intiial proposal. It took less than half a day to find seven participants, so the OOC thread launched later in the day. IC posts started the day after.

I suppose the anniversary is really for me and Poindexter - Zweiblumen, rednblack, and Malevolence will have their anniversaries in October - but let's not get technical.

But what's an anniversary/birthday without gifts? So, without further ado: everyone gets +1 to a skill group of their choice. Get better at your specialty or round yourself out; the choice is up to you. Just let me know so I can record it in my files; please also update your sheet on the first page of the OOC thread. Katsina will be taking +1 to Enchanting.

January 19: The UCAS House of Representatives declares the UCAS Presidential Election of 2056 invalid, cancelling the inauguration of incumbent President Thomas Steele on the next day.
March 15: Dunkelzahn announces his intention to run for President on a historic broadcast of "Wyrm Talk!"
April 20: A decker calling himself Leonardo shuts down major servers run by the Big Eight and issues ransom demands. This leads to a purge of many IT departments (including Cannon at CATCo).

We have seven (7) IC posts over the last nine (9) days. We need to do better than one post per player per week. Doc just shared a lot of research. We need reactions to his findings, observations, suggestions, thoughts about next steps.
