Chino finds a video of Doc Hack murdering a bum in an alleyway that Doc Hack took and shared pre-transformation. Chino gives it the video a "OK!" symbol of approval and shares it with the team.

Years ago, Ibu Air opened the ASPS to funding outside the DIMR and Draco Foundation. The group traded the leash of one dead draconic master for a live one: Hestaby. However, about a month and a half ago (12/20/74), the Great Dragon Assembly moved that Hestaby be stripped of her hoard and lair and to be ostracized from their culture. She has since been driven underground and lost her lair and followers on Mt. Shasta. How the obelisk plays into this is a story for another day, but it seems that you have contributed a piece to the great Game of Dragons.

Wow, it took us 78 total dice to end up with 3 hits to find a relatively famous person.  Good thing we used up all those bad rolls after the big fight

@Poindexter:  Love the melancholy you're playing Sam with.  Can't wait to see the retrospective from his point of view

@All: as for what to do next, Doc is going to want to do research, and this group is a great data set for him.  Plus, he pretty much trusts everyone here, specifically Ace and Sam.  He's like to diagnose and try to help Chino get to a single personality.  So, he's more for sticking together then separating, but he won't push the agenda too far.  As long as he can keep in touch with one or two of the group he'd be happy.  He's leaning towards CFS or Seattle, but could be talked into other places.

Katsina still thinks that the groups should separate for the time being. She needs to spend some time with Sam to instruct him in Infected and Awakened life. She imagines that will take 4-6 months, unless Sam gets up and wanders off before then. Given Sam's appearance and appetite, staying rural is likely the safest play for the short term. She's willing to pass through Denver but only as a checkpoint. She thinks Ace/Katsina/Sam should go one direction while Chino/Doc/Ohanzee. There's nothing stopping the group from reuniting several months down the line, and staying in touch in the meantime, but for now she wants to split.

Another question I have is what happened to the free spirits of Ace, Kat, and APB? They didn't show up to reclaim their bodies. I can guess - each has their reasons for not wanting to come back. Ace likely wants out of Ares after falling in love with Kat, Kat was displeased with her vampire nature, and so would be loathe to return to that body, so they probably just wandered off together into the astral sea. Or found new bodies to inhabit and are living their lives out in some secluded, anonymous spot. APB, of course, has nothing left to return to.


But, more importantly, what is driving Kat's body at this point? She had no nanites, so her body should have remained brainless and drooling.

I had the same question, and what would have happened to Sam when the nanites were driven out of him.  I'm guessing that the infection has something to do with it.

For Sam I largely assumed that the personality created by the nanites is imprinted on the brain after a spell, so the nanites aren't required to maintain it. The warring factions of nanites constantly overwrite the brain with new personalities as the infection worsens, but that the nanites themselves act more as coders and write the "program" that defines the brain's personality but once "installed" it continues to operate autonomously. Hence Sam having the nanites when his memory was wiped/soul was yanked from his body allowed the new personality to form, but the subsequent destruction of the nanites when he became Infected later didn't destroy the new personality.


But I haven't read the fluff on headcases all that closely, so maybe Sam should have become a drooling sack of Fomóraig. Only Tec knows for sure...
