Does anyone know if the Field Museum is inside the containment area?

It is.  The Field Museum actually shows up in one of season five's missions (Liberation, iirc).

Here's a link to the nice map of Chicago created by Opti, it should help :)

Thanks.

I'm doing a SR 5 demo in a few days for a group, some of whom have never played Shadowrun.  I'm thinking that hijacking a bunch of ancient Egyptian artifacts recently recovered from the Field Museum, possibly magically active and all fresh from the containment area, will be a nice in to to the game.

Mummies VS Bugs

I'd watch that.....
Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

Note that the Field Museum became the Sanctum, a major citadel of metahuman defense against the bugs even before the Cermak blast - almost immediately, in fact.  I don't remember the name of the shaman who set it up, but he apparently had some (presumably revealed / divined) information about the bad things coming.

The Field Museum/Sanctum as it appears in SRM 05-04: Liberation.  Art by Igor Florentini.

Jason Two-Spirits is the shaman who predicted bug city and locked down the field museum as "Sanctum". According to feral cities pg 19-20, he and a powerful free spirit named Seeks-the-Moon have kept it from amassing much of a background count, and have recently teamed up with the Astral Space Preservation Society

Nice to see Jason still around and kicking...
(He was the main character in Burning Bright, the novel that covered the lead up, and FURBAR that leads to the CZ. A good read if you can find it.)
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

Sorry to disappoint you but Kyle Teller was the main character in Burning Bright (along with his (former) ally spirit Seeks-the-Moon.
After Bug City no one knows what Teller has been up to. Seeks-The-Moon on the other hand has been busy, seemingly both inside and outside of Chicago. He worked for/with Anne Ravenheart at some point.

He shows up a bit.  Working with the military, IIRC?  (it's been a few years since I read it last)

There's another Free Spirit (Not quite as powerful as Seeks) hanging around teh Sanctum as well, helping to protect it.

Quote from: SRM 05-04: Liberation
Daytripper is a spacey, slightly confused looking Free Spirit wearing a powder blue leisure suit. His reasons for hanging out at the Sanctum and helping Dr. Kersh are unknown to all, including Kersh (and possibly Daytripper himself). He will occasionally “sit” on a couch that doesn’t exist and watch an unseen television, laughing at sitcoms only he can see and commenting on them occasionally (“’With god as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!’ Now that’s funny! They don’t write TV like this anymore!”)

And a pic from that adventure as well:

My old GM, Steven Tinner, wrote this adventure, and Daytripper was originally a Hearth Spirit conjured up by Johnny 99, Bull's old Coyote Shaman partner.  As he was the Hearth Spirit for our apartment, he started showing up unsummoned on a semi-regular basis.  He was based heavily on Don Knott's character from Three's Company, Mr. Furley.  He was an amusing running joke in our game, and eventually when Bug City went down, our apartment got destroyed, and in the process Daytripper was somehow freed.  He was fun.  And often really, really annoying.

I loved GM-ing as Daytripper when i ran that mission- he's a blast to play. Got some of the players reaaal weirded out. And a couple of others totally fascinated- one of them is a freelance gonzo journalist who keeps trying to find out about him. Glad to know the backstory!
