"Tanja Vashnopoya is a former prostitute from St. Petersburg. She is loosley affiliated with the Vory but operates alone. Her specialty is safe places - not unlike Moma Chau's but for cargo. She has a carefully cultivated reputation for discretion and honesty. She never looks at the storage - or so she says.

I heard rumors that recently a customer of hers was robbed shortly after retrieving his stuff.
That's why I organized the Laes. After closing the deal I planed to give her the pill."

"You''s wanna tell me, you's dosed the only person who's coulda known where's our stuff? And then you's went ahead and took a pill yourself. Scary, you's got less sense then a concussed duckling. How are we's gonna ever find it now?"

"I'm not stupid. If I took the pill I'm sure I thought of a way to find it again. We just have to be careful."

"We's got to be fast, too. Who knows what you's blabbed while down in Feng's larder. We's still on the clock."

Slobbertooth palmed at his face, "Or you took the pill because you wanted to forget about the cargo. That's the fun part about taking Laes, you can't remember what you were trying to forget. "

Since thei arrival at the safe house , Torrent's mood had   worsened. After  Sunkid's story he spent some time wandering through the debris without purpose.

How many metahuman  kids  from the streets of Seattle died here?If not for Raven's guidance, I would have stayed a street brat myself.A victim.Damn this shithole.

He entered the tent just in time to hear Slobbertooth saying something about Laes.

Again, Krestov had remained silent during the transition and arrival at the safe point...though safe seemed hardly the appropriate term to use.  Busying himself, the troll distracted his mind by unloading their gear: all their guns, his shield, their other equipment, the team decker, etc.

Upon completion, Krestov listened with intent as the description of the contact they were meeting shortly was uttered, the big guy giving a nod.  "Unless appropriate and necessary, Krestov remain quiet during exchange.  In experience, Russian prefer speaking in mother tongue when can, which may distracting this conversation.  Will follow lead"   And with that he said no more, his eyes looking blankly ahead as he took inventory.

"unloading their gear"? Thanks, mate -.- :D

"So what do you guys suggest? Shall we meet her at all? I mean, Scary, you said, your plan would be to leave some trail behind. If you did and you did it to prevent the girl from finding your stuff, I assume you wouldn't have sown your breadcrumbs in her lap, would you?
So, where would you have put your trails no-one else should be able to pick up? My first assumption would be your 'link, but maybe that's just where I would but the damn thing. Do you have something like a favourite place? Somewhere where you go when everything else pisses you off? Or someone maybe? Anyone you trust? A host perhaps? I assume it wouldn't be something you carry with you. Otherwise we're complètement paumé anyway. Do you have a whazzitcalledinEnglish, body compartment thingy? Mierda, manchmoi kummt ma voi, i bin de anzige Erwochsene in dem Verein..."

"Well, the meet is scheduled. And there is the chance that I didn't go through with my plan. Quite a lot of variables. Not least the thing about her lap - she still is an attractive woman." He grinned.

"But yeah, good question. It's a bit like playing chess against yourself. If I did take the pill myself as you say I must have realized, that I had no weapons on me and that they would catch me. Hm, I wonder where my gun is now - Savalette Guardian with top of the line accessories.
Anyway, my favorite place in Seattle was Moma Chau's but as I understand you already searched there.
I have no smuggling compartment and it doesn't feel like I hid something up my arse.

What I usually do in dangerous situations is to pay a guy on the street to hold onto a key without him knowing what it's for or hide stuff on the toilet. That way if I'm searched I'm in the clear and collect whatever I need afterwards."

bnc makes a face at the remark about Tanja's various qualities. She was no, as you put it in Austria, child of sadness herself, and she learnt the vitals about why men and women interact at an age you should play games like TinkerbellTM or OtterlandTM, but she still feels like pretty much any teenage girls feels when it comes to statements like this.

"I know perfectly well what you're talking about. I do play chess against myself. It's a way to keep your mind busy during English lessons at B2 niveau. Do you have your commlink with you? If you have a mark at your gun, I might be able to find it."
She winks.
"So what you're telling us, is: There might be some random shaker on the streets holding a key which means nothing to him, waiting for you to return. Which you never will because you've completely forgotten who the drek he is. Da?
"Right. Let's talk to Tanja..."

"With that piece of crap I can't get even a pizza place. But feel free to trace the gun. I'm sending you a few MARKs."
He shook his head at the second part:
"Not anyone random. It would have to be someone who is regularly at the same place. Someone who people overlook and don't talk to much more than they have to. Those are usually very well disposed if you approach them with friendliness and compassion.

So, anyone else got some questions? Otherwise I'll take a nap. I still feel like hell."

Krestov sat near the back, towards the entrance to the tent, ever the alert sentry as he continued taking stock of their gear, listening lightly to the conversations.  As Spice drifted off, the big guy hmmed a little, a low rumble coming from his throat.

"Two possibilities from that description then.  Bum near that one shack, or the hot dog vendor...nuyen is going towards the former....good to know, but now waiting for Russian agent, da?"

"Right then. Scary sleep. We'll meet Tanja-with-the-beautiful-ass and then have a look around the Stuffer Shack again.
Let's do it, then."

Murphy's Laws of Combat: 119. Mine fields are not neutral.

Seattle, Tacoma, May 6th, early morning

Something felt wrong. It took Torrent a moment to realize what had awoken him. First he thought it was the breaking of a small burned bone somewhere up the ramps, but than he realized what it really was: His motion sense had triggered through the thin canvas of the tent. There were six, humanoid and they moved very slowly and carefully towards the tents entrance.

Perception check from everyone else.

Slobbertooth was busy sorting out his equipment and din't notice any approaching threats.

Perception [5]: 14d6t5 1

Alright, so how the hell does background count work. I know that it affects our magic in some way, but I can't sort it out for myself.

Edit: Now with a proper roll of the dice, and boy was it terrible

Krestov had slept little that night, taking the brunt of turns on watch while the others rested.  As he sat there, helmet on, Krestov spotted Torrent shifting...which is unexpected, because Torrent never shifts.  Something is up...  Keeping his movements subtle and patient, the troll's left hand gripped at the shield at his side, the other reaching for his Crusader as he shifted his gaze, around, his eyes picking up the subtle displacement of their environs.

bnc's sleep was unsteady and restless. She shifted from side to side. She shut her eyes more tightly, only to find herself even less sleepy. It seemed pointless.

Perception: 8d6t5 2
Eventually, sleep overcame her, though. In a bad moment...
