Hello,

Can the team Technomancer let the Rigger jump into an enemy drone by having 3 marks on it?

Thanks!

No sharing of marks as far as I'm aware. I believe this has been noted by a developer here on the forums.

I would however, if GM, allow the following options :
Decker marks Persona owning Drone, uses Spoof Command to make drone send Invite Mark to the Rigger.
Technomancer using Puppeteer to make the Drone send Invite Mark to the Rigger.

I'm pretty sure that riggers can't jump into a drone that they do not own regardless of the marks.  I'm thinking that there was a thread on that a while back.  Remote control with marks yes, jump in, no.

JUMP INTO RIGGED DEVICE
(COMPLEX ACTION)
Marks Required: 3
Test: Electronic Warfare + Logic [Data Processing] v.
Willpower + Firewall
You jump into a device that has a rigger adaptation,
usually a vehicle or a drone. There’s a list of things you
need to have in order to jump into a device: you have
to have three marks on the device you want to jump
into, you have to be in VR, the device you want to jump
into has to have a rigger adaptation, and you have to
have a control rig. If you are the device’s owner, or the
device’s owner has given you permission to jump into
the device, you don’t need to make a test. In the Matrix,
the icon of the device you jumped into becomes
part of your persona.
If someone else is already jumped into the device,
you cannot attempt this action until he or she vacates.

There's no way I'd allow Spoof command (1 mark) to be used as a shortcut to matrix actions with higher mark requirements, like the Owner only "Invite Mark" matrix action.  Spoof Command is for simple direction like when directing an autopilot, drone or agent to do some task.

Besides, drones can't invite marks on themselves.  Drones aren't owners.  Inviting Mark is something an owner does FOR his devices.  And since you can't command a persona to do something (without puppeteer), there's the mechanical way Spoof doesn't work.

If I were a Rigger wanting to jump into enemy drones I'd mod my RCC with a Sleaze attribute of 1 and then mod it +1 more point. Then run Stealth and Exploit for a total Sleaze rating of 5 for only about $3500.  That should be enough to put marks on stuff.

You could get to the same place with a commlink modded for Exploit and a Rating 3 Sleaze dongle, but that would cost you at least $27k.

No, but with with a Man-Machine Resonance Interface Echo the Technomancer can jump into an enemy drone by having 3 marks on it....

Sure they can.

It is resolved with an opposed Electronic Warfare + Logic [Data Processing] v. Willpower + Firewall test.

Getting the three marks, however, is not something riggers normally can do (they would need to base their persona on a device that grant them an attack or sleaze rating and invest into either cybercombat or hacking).

Either that or that the legit matrix owner invite them to take 3 marks on the drone (in that case they don't need to take a test).

If I were a Rigger wanting to jump into enemy drones ...
If i were to build a character that plan on hacking and jumping into hostile drones (and other vehicles) for a living then I would probably make her a Technomancer with a MMRI Echo and knowledge of the Puppeteer Complex Form.

That way I could mark the drone. Puppeteer the owner to jack out of the matrix. Jump in myself. Effectively locking the rigger out of his own drone (jumped in is the highest on the control order so he can't override me and he probably don't have an attack or sleaze rating to force me out of his own drone either....)

So if someone jump into my drone, I can't do anything? The reboot action then, can only be used BEFORE the guy jumps in?

No, you'd have to find out whose drone it is (maybe via social engineering), find them online, mark their persona, then whilst persona is online and not in the drone, use spoof command against the drone (not the persona) to make the drone think it has received a mark, and then jump in before the persona notices.

I said as a GM I'd allow it, not that I'd make it easy! Technomancer has it much easier, as they can just use puppeteer to get the device to invite mark.

Edit - Actually, urgh, Invite Mark is horribly written. Apparently it is done by the owner, not the Persona or the Device, but the owner, yet is still somehow a Matrix action.

You just puppeteer the owner to let you place your marks on his drone.

Technically it is the owner's matrix persona that is the legit matrix owner of the drone. You use puppeteer on the owner's on-line matrix persona to take the Invite Mark Matrix Action to offer you to place three marks with a lifetime duration on the drone that his matrix persona is the legit matrix owner of.

The meat world real person behind the matrix persona will of course know it was forced to invite you to take the mark, just like when you use control action on someone.... so not very subtle.... But once the mark has been accepted not even the owner can't revoke it (other than by calling in a decker to erase the mark...)

So if someone jump into my drone, I can't do anything? The reboot action then...
Yeah, reboot probably works to get rid of temporary illegally obtained marks....
(and dump the TM from hot-sim)

Probably more safe to just brick the rigger's persona icon (ie his RCC) and then jump in ;)

Hmm.  Reboot.  That's a good defense against stolen drones.  Personally I would prefer to let the thieving rigger make the defense test for Reboot, but it says right there that owners never have to make a test, they always succeed.

The trick then is to simply link-lock the drone first, so it can't reboot or go offline!!  ;D  To be fair, it's unclear whether link-locking will work against a non-persona forming devices, but it's suggested by the uses of the phrase "or other device"  and the effect of not being able to leave the matrix certainly applies.

Interesting concept. Had to look it up! :)
Turns out that the cyberprogram Lockdown (or Resonance Program Lockdown) can only be used on a persona... so it can't really be used stop the owner from rebooting the device.

Fair enough.  The wording of the program is clear enough to preclude link-locking on non-persona forming devices.

I was thinking the general description of Link-locking might have still allowed for devices to be link-locked even though most of the discussion is in the context of a deck getting link-locked.  However, without a way to do it (the Lockdown program), it's a moot point.

Well that kinda sucks.  If a jumped in rigger can't defend against a reboot attempt by the owner and can't link-lock a device, it makes the otherwise cool action of Jumping into enemy drones a dumpshock-trap.

You can always GI/GO the Reboot action. For example it could be changed to Send message: "Piss off or be geeked."

EDIT: When you are jumped in, the device icon and your persona icon are merged. That means that the device will become a persona and that means you cannot use matrix action Reboot Device on it (unless it is your persona).
That also means you can link-lock owner when he is jumped in.

Now the question is: If you have multiple devices and RCC, will you be able to jump between the devices or will you be locked in one?
