I posted a while back about how one of my players had a devout Catholic PC get infected and turn into a ghoul. Since then, we've developed a new, delightfully heretical belief system. We're calling it "True Communion", and the concept is that god has chosen HMHVV infection as the means of testing and separating sinners from saved. Basically, anyone who comes through the ghoul transformation sentient is amongst the saved, and the feral are the damned on Earth (and must be eliminated). The only True Communion is, of course, literal flesh. The character is slowly gaining covert support from some factions within the Ghoul Liberation League.

The Catholic church currently has a large bounty out on the character.

Anyway, feel free to use this if anyone wants to, it's been a lot of fun.

As a Catholic myself, I can decide if this is too heretical to not hate or too awesome to not use....

Just don't fiction for real life and you're fine.

Who really cares what happens in a fictional game, in a fictional world, to a fictional religion? It has no baring on the real world, or the religion.
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

As a former Catholic, I think this is incredibly fantastic, and I think the character should fund researchers of anthropological, Biblical, archaeological, and literary sorts who are out to prove that Jesus and the Apostles were, themselves, ghouls and/or Wendigos.  ;)

The GM should also provide visual props like artwork revolving around Catholic School Ghouls in torn uniforms. :P
Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

That adds more meaning to the words of Jesus saying "this is my flesh and this is my blood." Should this cult prove right then they literally ate him. Then of course he could have regeneration so it would grow back in the morning

Hahaha yes all good ideas. He's in a tight spot with the team being very suspicious of him currently. But if he survives their current series of runs in Chicago, I foresee great things!

He was excommunicated by the Catholic church this past week, after he started street preaching around Chicago, which of course got recorded by a popular blogger and picked up by news sites. The bounty on him was substantially increased for his apostasy. Some of the rest of the team are starting to consider cashing in...

Technically he would have excommunicated himself automatically by preaching heresy.

But excommunication is reversible, so the issuing of a bounty is unlikely.

Good to know! The bounty is actually Aztechnology/Aztlan posing as the Church, as the character was an anti-Azt merc before fleeing into the shadows after Bogota fell apart. But he doesn't know that...

The Ghoul Liberation League is also pretending to back him, but wouldn't mind a martyr, as a good beginning for a "new" faith. They intend to use it as a counter to Fear the Dark, to give infected radicals somewhere else to turn.

Good to know! The bounty is actually Aztechnology/Aztlan posing as the Church, as the character was an anti-Azt merc before fleeing into the shadows after Bogota fell apart. But he doesn't know that...
After ten minutes, though, he would.  Aztlan/Aztechnology is on the severe outs with the Holy Roman Catholic Church; the HRCC is banned from the nation and corporation, attending Catholic religious services are considered serious crimes (and conducting/defending them treason, I think, though it's been a while since I read that portion of the Aztlan Sourcebook), and basically you have a slug/salt mixture, there.

I can't see the Church letting the misinformation stand for longer than a day, myself - though they themselves might want to talk with the feller - especially if he's a charismatic preacher who can go into serious hotspots (like Asamondo) that they're not willing to send standard priests into.  If there are specific points of doctrine that simply need to be corrected ... this can be discussed.

I foresee a three-way firefight between the team, a very-PO'd fake-Catholic Aztlan snatch team, and a coolly-efficient mildly-annoyed actual-Catholic snatch team composed of Dominicans, Sylvestrines, and/or Jesuits.  (Please god don't go with the NJO, New Jesuit Order; it's a stumble on the part of the devs way back when, because the Jesuits don't call themselves that, they're the Society of Jesus, and the 'New Jesuits' wouldn't call themselves that, they'd be the 'New Society of Jesus', nsj, if anything - but why repeat your effort when you have a group of people who are already right there and entirely competent in what you want to do??)
