...such as swords or batons. I think there was a rule for that in 4E, something about increased damage, but I can't seem to find it now. And since we are on the subject, is there such a rule in 5E?

To my knowledge, there is not such a rule.

I don't think so.....

At least its escaping me if there ever was. I know some other game systems have rules for this (DnD and pathfinder for sure). But i don't think SR ever did.
Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???

You are thinking of Optional Advanced Combat rules from Arsenal, specifically pg 161
Quote
Using One-Handed Melee Weapons
A character may choose to use a one-handed weapon (Reach 0
or 1) with both hands to swing with more strength and power. This
adds a +1 DV bonus to such attacks. Only weapons capable of being
grasped with two hands may be used in this manner; knives and
similar small weapons do not get any bonus when used in this way.

Same page also covers the opposite, just in case that was your next question:
Quote
Using Two-Handed Melee Weapons with one hand
A number of melee weapons are designed to be used with
two hands. These include most pole arms and most weapons with
a Reach of 2, plus any others the gamemaster designates as requiring
two hands. It is possible for a character to use a two-handed weapon
with only one hand, though doing so is difficult and the attack is
less powerful. Apply a –2 dice pool modifier to such attacks and
reduce the DV of the attack by –2.
Trolls can wield such two-handed weapons in a single hand
more easily, suffering only a –1 dice pool modifier and a –1 to DV.

To date, do not recall anything similar in 5th, but may have missed something in one of the extras.

Do you believe in a greater WIRELESS, an Invisible(WiFi) All Seeing(detecting those connected- at least if within 100'), All Knowing(all online data) Presence that we can draw upon for Wisdom(downloads & updates), Strength (wifi boni) and Comfort (porn) or do you turn your back on it  (Go Offline)?

Now if you want to know what the bonuses are if you slap a possession spirit into a vibro sword while turning it's wireless to ON so you can have the TM insert a sprite and then cast Anaylze device....

*trails off as Reaver hefts the 2x4 with a glint in his eye*

umm.. nevermind......

While using two hands rather than one might increase damage in some situations (like when you plunge a knife into a prone target - sacrifice style), most melee weapons designed to use with one hand are often harder / slower to control  if you wield them with two hands (just imagine a knife fight where one of the combatants swings his knife while holding it with two hands...)

I would give +1 recoil compensation if you hold a one handed firearm (like a pistol) with two hands rather than one (this would be a house rule).

Wow. Nice guy.

I just roll that into proper firing techniques for a pistol. (Covered by skill), and use the various modifiers as distraction/out of proper firing positioning of chaotic combat.

Ah, no wonder I couldn't find it - I was going with a fine-toothed comb throug the core rulebook!
To be honest I fell like a complete idiot right now, what with "Arsenal" being one of my favourite supplementals (what can Isay, I LOVE toys!). :-[

Hmm, that's true. Which leads us to a different topic...
