CF150 Double Elastin
SR459 Platelet Factories

Any time you would take 2 or more boxes of damage to your [Physical | Stun] Condition Monitor, reduce the damage by one box.

Double Elastin specifically calls out that it "does not apply to Drain, Fading, or Biofeedback damage".  Platelet Factories makes no such statement, therefore, is it safe to assume that Platelet Factories applies to drain damage that is Physical in nature?  Or is this noted in an errata or FAQ somewhere as not applying to drain damage?

I'm kicking around the idea of a Troll mage who aims to take physical damage from all his spells and use high BOD, bone density, and platelet factories to soak the drain to nothing.  Totally not optimal I'm sure, but it sounds like an amusing concept and puts the opposition in the Catch 22 of "Geek the Mage first!"  "But, it's a Troll /sadface".

Not sure on the Platelet Factories, though I'd tend toward "no" since Drain is supposed to be a special case when it comes to damage. However, high Bod doesn't help you any since you don't soak Drain with Body (unless you are soaking the drain from some of the Adept powers). Drain from spells is always soaked with Willpower and one other mental stat (Logic, Charisma, or Intuition).

RAW platelet factories work.

and it's easy to justify, for platelet factories damage is damage, no matter how you got it. However I could see it going the other way also, but currently I think you have to take it at face value that it works.

RAW it works, though I'd bet it's an interaction that wasn't intended. Wakka wakka 5e

I think, it's RAW since 3rd Edition, it is the same wording, maybe copy/paste  ;)

Kind regards Max

I don't think it was an oversight.  First off you have lost some magic somewhere to have it.  Second, you aren't recovering physical damage with an hour nap the way you do with stun.
Keeping in mind that platelet factory only helps for that 2nd level of damage, so if you rely on it you will be (creeping) up the damage track.
It works, but it doesn't strike me as game breaking.

Not necessarily if you splurge for Transhuman Prototype.

True.  The other part of my argument still holds.

I didn't say it didn't.  :P That's fair. You're right, it's not broken, and it's corner case utility to boot - most mages don't want to be risking physical Drain if they can avoid it.

Double Elastin is Geneware... Transhuman Prototype is Bioware. They aren't the same anymore... it might be an oversight that they forgot to copy & paste from 4th edition. They did change the entire process for how Geneware is preformed to remove nanites from the process, so it might be intentionall. Geneware also can't come in Grades either by RAW... I've asked but haven't been answered in the Errata thread about these issues.

I was referring to Platelet Factories as Double Elastin explicitly does not reduce Drain damage.

My bad... got the two confused somewhere.
