Wednesday 24, December 2075, 15:30 .
Tonight was a quiet night in Seattle, the knight errant got their budget increase and announced the formation of a new autonomous unit called shadow squad to combat the new menace. “In 30 days for now, we will double our power, and make Seattle a city of law and order and security.” was the quote in the paper. There is also much buzz about what mega’s are going to equip this new shadow force.

Also in the news is that the Salish-Shidhe Council is closing it borders with Seattle. Traffic will now go through extensive medical tests and the number of border passage permits was cut in half. This started a mass of border riots that were very brutally suppressed by the UCAS army.

In the shadow, but not in any formal news a massive gang war initiated showing unprecedented degrees of violence in the south of the Barrens near Renton as a new gang war sprung between the Rusted Stilettos and The spiders. Two gangs that share the same space and were former allies. The number of wounded and casualties is catastrophic and shadow clinics all over are overflowed with patients and struggling for supplies.

@Maxwell your fixer contacts you - “There is some rogue mage to the north of the barrens, I am sending you yo Gerald the leader of the red hot nukes. Should be the high risk high reward kind.”

@Serge,Crossbow- Your clinic like most other shadow clinic is overflowing with wounded gangers, money is flowing in and business were never better but you need some medical supplies and these are difficult to come by with hospitals playing bunker due to the humanitarian crisis in the border. Hospitals themselves are overwhelmed with legit citizens and cannot spare anything. You need medical supplies and you need them NOW, if you are to stay in business.  The black market seems like the only option for that, but do you know anyone that can import this kind of goods?.

Maxwell was enjoying a nice cup of cheap soykaff when he got the call.  Feeling the dark black liquid pour into him into as he guzzles it down.  Enjoying the rush of caffeine as it surges into his body and mind.  A sly grin darts across Maxwell's face as he now has something to do with his new energy.  Grandiose thoughts of destruction and mayhem brew within Maxwell's brain as he imagines what fighting another mage would be like.  Images of hellfire raining down from the sky and the earth cracking open is what Maxwell hopes will happen.  After a few minutes Maxwell snaps out of his daydream and responds back.

@Prop Joe - <<Alright i'll check it out.>>

He dons his lucky black leather jacket and makes sure he has his essentials and what not.  He heads over to his bathroom mirror and makes sure everything is in its place.  Once he was finished, Maxwell walks out the door and takes a deep breath of the foul outside air.  "Smells like a fine day to fuck some shit up."  Maxwell lets out a wracking cough and makes his way north to meet the leader of the Red Hot Nukes.

@Maxwell as you arrive to the location indicated what greets you is a hastily built  2 meter wall, built out of rusted old cars, construction waste and plastics. It is basically made of reused Barrens polluted junk. The wall is filled of firing positions and sand begs and you can spot a guard every several meters. Inside the wall there is an 8 story building that also seems fully fortified and you can spot hunting guns pointing out from some of the windows and camouflage cloths that make it difficult to spot if these guns are manned or not.  Before the wall there is barb wire, and only a narrow spiral path leads to the entrance after going back and forth 3 times across the barb wires.

As you approach an AR dwarf is projected from the floor to 'greet' you. "We are armed and dangerous, Go find less organized neighborhoods to prey on!"

Maxwell bellows out a few coughs as he surveys the place.  Taking note of potential sharpshooters that could gun him down.  A frown appears on Maxwell's lips at the sight of the projection.  "What a nice warm welcome."  Maxwell slowly throws up his hands to show he's not holding any weapons.  And just as slowly he lowers them and grabs the sides of his jacket to lift them up.  Revealing that he has no concealed weapons either, aside from his knife he keeps just in case he needs a can opener.  Maxwell lets his jacket sides fall back in place and speaks in a serious tone: "I've no interest in robbing you.  I just have some business to discuss with Gerald."

Trying to stifle a laugh from being called a "mojoman", Maxwell walks past the barricade and traps and proceeds into the towering building.

@Maxwell as you enter the building you meet more heavily armed dwarf, one of them, that is older and unarmed presents himself "Hello Sovereign, I am called Gerald, I brought you here to have a look on one of the Zombies that roam the city. We think that they may be some evil spirits like Shedim or some other magical trick. I can pay you 1k  just to have a look and tell me what you think."

For Devon Harris, Wednesday was a regular day, when the third banger appeared at the door before the sun started trying to burn through the perpetual haze, it was clear that something big was going down.  He called in the full staff by 0800 and around noon he was finishing his second surgery, removing 2 bullets from the leg of a kid half his age that had cussed him worse than he had ever heard.

Doctor Harris, Devon’s dad, stopped him on the way back into pre-op, “I got the next one, Devon, take a break and ‘Ring the Bell’, see if we can get some help for the overnight.  Also, check the inventories, we are already drawing on the secondary sources (“The shadow clinic” Devon thought), we are going to run of gauze and antibiotics by morning, and I don’t even want to think about what we are already out of.”

Ringing the Bell involved contacting the dozen or so medically trained personnel that his father would trust to change an IV in his clinic and a few street docs that ran their own shops in the Barrens.  The reputable folks, Harris didn’t do business with organleggers.  After a half an hour of making calls, it was clear they were in a real crisis.  He had taken on three new patients and had gotten no assistance what-so-ever lined up, everyone was swamped and running on empty.  Devon couldn’t imagine what these people (He refused to call them colleagues, even though they thought of him that way.  It wasn’t something he had earned yet) were going through, he knew the Harris Clinic was better supported than most.

He realized he was going to have to get dirty, he contacted TwoToes and put the word out.  His dad was paying top dollar and he himself was ready to go ‘find’ the stuff they needed.

@Flatline - "Looking for some medical supplies, this is especially hard to find with both legitimate and shadow clinics struggling and trade is sluggish. I have a source but it may be a long shot, I can try to take you across the Salish border with the Yakuza,  got word that they are raiding some facility and are in need of medics.

Perhaps you can raid the clinic of that facility while they are doing their own *thing* and treat them if they are hurt. Would you like me to broker such deal? I would not send you to the Yaks but they are the only ones that can cross the border and there is no shortage across the border. "

"I'm down, when's the meet?  You think they want to double up?" Flatline replied, thinking about Serge, a runner he knew that ran a little clinic just outside the Oasis.  Devon knew that, like him, Serge's medical supplies were running short.

@Crossbow TwoToes  answers "If there is one thing I am certain is that the Yaks are so aggressive that they can never have enough medics. Especially in recent years as they somehow managed to build some serious private army. I am forwarding you a comcode - Deep Blue she is an independent fixer. "

A look of bewilderment and excitement was on Maxwell's face.  Here he was asking around and searching nonstop for one of these monsters.  He would never have expected to be called to see one.  The joy doesn't last long as the skepticism starts to set in.  "I've been looking forever for one of these revenants to fight and now i'm being asked to examine one.  It's probably nothing anyway, maybe some voodoo or a clever animate spell.  Also what the hell is a Shedim?"  A new question burns within Maxwell's mind and believes the aged dwarf will have some answers.

@Gerald - "Well for starters, it's nice you know my name already.  I myself am curious to know what kind of undead these creatures are, but I got to be honest with you.  I've no clue as to what a "Shedim" is.  Is that a dwarven word?  Also another question would be.  Why call me to do this?  I'm pretty sure their are other more scholarly magical types who might be better at this.  I'm in the business of burning stuff and combat and being an arcane bodyguard.

@Serge "Hello sir, this is Devon Harris, Dr. Maxwell Harris' son.  I know with every going down in the Barrens, if you are like us you are knee deep in blood and running low on bandages.  I can't help with the former, but I have a line on the latter and could use somebody to watch my back.  You interested?"

On his secondary comm he contacts the fixer

@Deep Blue "Name's Flatline, heard you might be looking to hire some medical professionals, I might know one or two.  Any chance i can get an interview?"

Finally getting a chance to sit down after a long day in the clinic, Serge sets the apartment's server drones to take care of suitable tasks downstairs as he pours a quick synth-ale. Noting the message on the comm-unit, he sends back, <<It is difficult getting supplies, but I do need to ask exactly what's involved before I commit to anything.>>

@Maxwell - Gerald tells you "In that case I will not pay you, but you can have a look anyhow if you came all this way, thanks for being honest with me." He brings you to a room with one of this zombies, clearly dead and decaying and smelly too.

@Flatline - Deep Blue texts >> I needed you to contact me like yesterday or the week before.  Can you meet me like in 20 minutes? Let me know where you are and I'll be there.
