[5e] New Player - Criticism Welcomed

Hey everybody!

My tabletop group are starting a Shadowrun campaign. I have played other system just never SR.  Our GM is the only one that has played before.

There are going to be 5 players (Melee Troll, Face, Decker, Mage/Wizard/Magic Guy?) and none of us are interested in playing a rigger.

Since we are just getting started with the system we'll be using the just the Core book for now.

I built a character with the intention of using guns and augmentations. Kind of the suave/shooter type.

Haven't really fleshed out Knowledge/contacts/backstory yet. Just wanted to see if I got the basic system understood.

That .chum5 file is unreadable for a lot of people too, Crash (or at least, unreadable in a lot of places).

Chummer should have an option to export as plain text (which you can directly post here - should look a lot like Hobbes'). I know it can output a decent html and pdf version (which are more widely readable).

Yeah I'll second that actually putting the sheet in a text field in this forum will get more responses. I don't have a computer that runs chummer (it's literally 40 steps to install it on a Mac) and don't have interest in having to open new tabs to other sites just to view someone's sheet.

Looked ok. You are going to get suggestions to lower etiquette because for some reason (missions?) etiquette is not used as in the rules.
Most glaring miss I saw was you haven't used any of your 25 karma (only the karma you got from neg. qualities). Use the karma for some low-level skills and/or lower amount of negative qualities.
I would skip pilot (or buy 1 with karma) and put the points in Con instead. Also I would use karma to buy some locksmith and buy some B&E tools.
You also have a lot of redundancies and some strangeness in equipment.. Why have both Ares Alpha and AK97? both a bike and a car? 5 different armors? Explosives without skill?

As far as both guns it seemed better to have the choice between a Restricted and Forbidden rifle. Both vehicles for flavor really. Again freedom of choice for armor. Explosives I kind of threw in there. Wasn't sure if I wanted to take them or not.

I actually agree with the two guns; I do that all the time. Much for the same reason. The Ares is just better, but you don't always have the luxury of bringing your shiny Forbidden stuff. And they're relatively cheap (for most characters).

Mind you, if you need some cash, that's something to save on - you can always buy one again later.

"Hookers and blow" isn't really an addiction as far as the game is concerned. I'd just change it into Novacoke (i.e. the Blow part) and just add the hookers on the side if you want as a roleplaying thing (depending on the group, you may not want to emphasise that part).

Cyber/Bioware:
Your initiative is a bit on the low side. Granted, if you're all new players, it may work, but you're going to want to upgrade those synaptic boosters sooner rather then later - and chargen is a good time to do that. The R2 one is expensive though.
On Cybereyes, you might consider keeping your eyes and installing the mods on your retina. It saves 6k, although at the cost of some Essence (0.5 instead of 0.3 - you don't need to get Image Link, after all, since you have a datajack). For even more savings, consider getting some of those as contacts (or glasses/googles); that's cheaper in both essence and nuyen. Plus it saves you your eyes. (That's partially a style choice though).
I'd consider Bone Lacing before Orthoskin. Bone Lacing gives the same soak dice (although with 1 less armor - it gives effective Body instead) for a fair chunck of cash less. Granted, it's not thát much, but it's still better. (You can consider higher levels too). Bone Lacing stacks with Orthoskin, if you want to go tank, but I'd usually get the lacing first.

Etiquette seems a bit high. Not that a high etiquette is high, but a lone etiquette skill thát high without other socials to support it... Meh? Still, not sure how you could solve that.

I would suggest trading Attributes and Resources. LOG 3 really isn't doing anything that useful for you, where you could get a lot of mileage out of more ware. You can trade some of the cheap stuff up to Alpha, maybe get Used Muscle Toner for another rank, and fit in more stuff to add soak.

Etiquette 6 is crazy overkill.

I'd suggest taking a melee skill. Bone Aug/Lacing + Unarmed is a great pick.

I'd swap out Synaptic booster 1 for Wired 1 and Used Reaction Enhancers 3.  You've got essence to burn. 

Gymnastics is usually unopposed.  Think about moving the 2 group skill points into Athletics, and taking Sneaking.

I was aiming to max out Defense Tests and wound up in kind of  an odd place.  Spare Essence and it fixed the Str dump stat without karma.  The build is actually posed in All4bigguns Homebrew Archtypes post.  http://forums.shadowruntabletop.com/index.php?topic=12881.0 if you wish to comment.
