A question occurred to me, that isn't really important enough go go through every line referencing CFD analysis and attempts at treatment, but perhaps someone has enough of it in their head space to know, without slogging through several books in that fashion.

Did anyone attempt to document the progress of CFD with a simrig? If so, were other CFD subjects given that beetle?
Was anyone not suffering from CFD dumb enough to chip it, or ruthless enough to make someone else do it? (The latter part of that, I'm certain is 'yes', but I don't know if it was admitted to, much less attempted).

CFD isn't a BTL.  It is a poorly researched boogeyman plot device being used as a framework for Lockdown and Shadowrun Chronicles.

Unless the actual rig/ BTL chip was infected with the CFD nanites, you wouldn't be at risk.

If the rig/chip was infected with the nanites, then there is a risk of course but the same could be said of having a chiphead dripping blood on someone.

Though as a portable vector that people would willingly slot into themselves and thus avoiding holding them down and forcing them to take it goes, it is not bad concept.

Obviously.

However, the experience of having CFD could be recorded. And while it would not permanently overwrite the personality of anyone chipping it, it might (or might have been) instructive to see how (or if) the nano-infection would respond to those inputs. Odds are, the nanites don't care what's there, they just write what they know, even if another nanite has already written the same thing there... or even if a few thousand nanites have already stomped that part of the subject's brain.
