I am currently working on a troll street sam/hacker character, and as no one else in the group plans to buy a vehicle that can accommodate a troll, I need to get my own set of wheels. However, as I have my heart set on the Dodge Guardian for that badass armoured road hog style, and added practicality of being able to fit my assault cannon in its internal weapon mount for easy transport (as well as the ability to shoot the thing on the move), I have been told that I am committing a faux pas. Some of the other guys seems to think that Lone Star will be harassing anyone who owns LE and military style vehicles mercilessly, referring to the bit of fluff about them not liking people who privately owns Ruger Thunderbolts, so I need to know if there is any canon references to such harassment, or preferably the lack thereof?

Also, a related concern about the Guardian; Since the vehicle comes with an internal weapon mount as standard, will every Lone Star officer and his mother know to check it for mounted weapons at every opportunity?

Easiest way to determine is you ate asking for problems is to check the availibility of the item.

If there is just a number, you're golden.

If there is a number and an "R", that means the item can only be owned with the proper licenses and permits (so best by a GOOD fake SIN and a GOOD fake permit)

If the is a number and an 'F'...... yea, kiss your ass goodbye. The item is illegal for anyone to own except for governments and corps.

Now normally, Runners and forbidden items go together like Fat Kids and Smarties, using the motto: "If they don't see it until its too late, they're too dead to report it!" Motto....

But YOU are talking about a giant vehicle... your can't hide that under your long coat  ;)

Yeah, the concern is with the Availability rating.  If it is Restricted, just make sure you broadcast your licenses while driving and they have no reason to harass you, or avoid where they harass as a whole.

This isn't the 1960's where you have plaform shoes 6 feet tall and Bell Bottoms so wide, famlies of homeless people crowd around your ankles for shelter.

(And thank god for THAT! I blame the 70's for my PTSD)

For the lif eof me, I can't figure out where this vehicle's from. Huh.

Regardless, as others have noted, if it's R, you can get through with some checks, but if it's F, do NOT get caught with it. Of course, an Assault Cannon is, by definition, a Forbidden weapon, so, that's already a bad thing.

ALSO also, weapon mounts are obvious. Srap one on to yoru car and everybody can see it, and a Heavy mount, the kind for an AssCan, is Forbidden, so, more trouble.

Top it all off with the fact that you don't just plop your gun into the mount, then pick it up when you want it, like it was some kind of a holster, but that it's a complex mounting and removal that takes about an hour, maybe more, and you'll see that the whole plan is gonna fall apart.

(Oh, and as a Trog, you can be expected to be hassled by the police often, just for existing. "Walking while tusked" and "Breathing while horned" are things that every Ork or Goblin knows about and is raised with. Good thing you can already bend steel with your bare hands, eh? :)

Standard mounts are also forbidden if they're not already built into whatever you have. If you put an SMG on your Scorpion, that's just as forbidden as putting an HMG on it.

The Dodge Guardian is a standard police motorcycle from Arsenal 4e. I don'know about the other editions, but the rules for weapon mounts in the same book says that it takes just two minutes to mount or dismount a weapon from a weapon mount, which seems very manageable, and hiding ones illegal heavy weapon inside ones bike seems like the only way of transporting it to and from runs without a car.

Hmm.. I might want to go for a Scorpion then, and install my weapon in a concealed mount for less obvious transport, though I might run tight on mod slots. Choosing an LMG over the AssCan (I love that name!) might be a solution, but a boring one that is.

How often does a vehicles speed and acceleration come into play in your games?

Thank you for your replies, you have been mist helpful :-)

That would be an interesting feat....

Hiding a 10kg, 4foot long machine gun in a 5 foot long bike....

Or a 6foot long assault canon on a 5ft long bike....

Gattling gun 16feet long.
Plane 53 feet long.

I would be more... amused watching you strap a 53foot long gun to a 16 foot long plane..... in a hidden weapon mount!

Damn you Reaver, you beat me to it  >:( ;D

I'd also love to see you control the bike the first time you fired the hidden assault cannon whilst riding it.

If the bike is built to have a weapon integrated with it, why not?  You'd basically be straddling it AND the engine, but it's in the realm of possibility.  Also keep in mind that if it is integrated properly, it won't be four feet long.  As far as recoil goes, this bike better have some good tires to make sure it doesn't have problems.  Maybe throw in a Pilot Groundcraft check to make sure you don't lose control or something.  Not too hard, but with rolls, there's always that chance to glitch (or do so critically).

Honestly, its really between ikill and his GM.
If his GM is willing to let it, no amount of bitching by me (or us) matters.

And yes it would be mijrai, hes talking about being able to "hot swap" the weapon - take it out and use it normally, put it back in and use the mount. Which means the weapon can't be altered as it usually would for a mount. (Removing the stock and ammo chambering, losing the fore-grib and barrel protection, etc)

Where am I going? And why am I in a hand basket ???
